95 years ago a great Danish success story began...On the 9th of October 1918, the two Danish engineers, Axel Petersen (1887-1971) and Arnold Poulsen (1889-1952) founded the Electrical Phono Film Company with a few capable and foresighted businessmen who would support the organization financially. Their aim was to explore the possibility of high-class recording and developing one of the first synchronized sound film systems in the world.
Today Ortofon is the world's leading cartridge manufacturer and one stop supplier of cartridges. Our company has always been working with sound reproduction. It was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1918 and initially made soundtracks for movies. In 1948 Ortofon developed its first moving coil cartridge, since then more than 300 different cartridges have been developed and manufactured.
We benefit from being established in Denmark, a country recognized for its strong tradition in acoustics and its wealth of other high-end manufacturers, who make hearing aids and acoustic measurement equipment, in addition to all aspects of high-end audio.

Audiophiles: You should NEVER EVER EVER let anything touch the stylus and cantilever because they're very delicate and the suspension can collapse! Actual Cartridge Builder: "pushes the cantilever moving it several mm"

I have the 2m red and I think it's fantastic I wish I could demo the blue so if ortofon would be so kind to let me that would be very nice and I would give my honest opinion if I could afford the blue as well I would have it !

Andrew I just got the red and was disappointed been using an old technics cartridge from a sl23 didn’t realise how good it was but anyway swapped to a blue it’s well worth the extra money and the stylus is interchangeable between blue and red all the best
