since the protons have finite momentum in the case of hydrogen and even other atoms , then why did the experiment of paddle eheel failed? why were not the protons attracted towards the negative plate when electric field was supplied? why didn't they show deflection when horse shoe magnet was placed there?

if the ionised atoms of gas( positively charged) are constantly hitting glass surface, then why didn't those positive charges show any deviation with electric/magnetic field at the back of cathode?????
@VishalYadav-xj9cq7 жыл бұрын
sir if anode ray haven't form any shadow and not able to move the paddle then how this was proven that anode rays travel in straight line and they consist of material particle.
@rajputgaurav12145 жыл бұрын
I think sir has done mistake
@gulelaskar49785 жыл бұрын
Yes bro, anode ray must move the paddle because proton has mass also. Even it is heavier than electrons... I am confused also

sir am facing a doubt regarding a concept u told in video that all experiments goldstein conducted on cathode ray tube to understand its properties failed...but sir if anode rays constitute +ve ions having finite momentum than they must rotate paddle wheel....according to me it might be because of lesser no of +ve ions passed through perforated cathode and irregular paatern in which they collided with paddle wheel ...sir please clarify am i right or not ...
@mlearningindia10 жыл бұрын
How do we define "RAY". It a straight line fixed at one end and extended upto infinite at another. Particles moving in irregular pattern could not be called even ray.
@Jugaliitb1239 жыл бұрын
there is no anode rays as goldstein said himself .Because we can't emitte proton from atom.glowing is beacuse of positively charged atom (not anode rays) and positive charge is because of ionisation due to high energy and velocity electron.
@Jugaliitb1239 жыл бұрын
and since they are small in number so no effect on all other experiment
@saumyavani15206 жыл бұрын
@@Jugaliitb123 But since it became charged so it should deflect toward the negative plate of the electric field. Please correct me if I'm wrong

Sir,my question is that in 2nd phase of Goldstein's experement it was showed that electrons are knocked out when cathode rays pass through leading atom be positively charged and here I want to tell you that you don't showed any glowness of tube as shown by JJ Thomson
