Hi James, Thank you so much! Lee and I will be using your contribution towards buying a new wireless microphone set for our future videos. When you see it on camera, then you will know that you helped to make that happen. In this video, we were filming and hit with a small wind storm that distorted our audio a few times during the episode. High Fives and Huge Appreciation! Pam & Lee

When it's buggy outside, there's no avoiding some of them getting inside. at night, I remove the filter from the range hood, turn the hood light on, turn any other lights off, turn the hood fan on then watch the bugs get sucked out of the trailer. After about 10 minutes they're all gone.

Great video! How about the "talking neighbor" Just when you start setting up, someone wants to spend 30 minutes in a conversation. Usually, you just want to get set up, and start cooking and walk the dog. Thats when the talking neighbor shows up. lol

Trash is my pet peeve! We are currently in a campground that actually has descent trash receptacles (with lids) spotted so there are about 4 campers to a can. Except where we are parked, there are none! Me and my neighbors have to walk about half a block to get rid of our trash, not a big deal. But, when we drive in and out of the campground we see all of the other campers with trash cans. I'll admit it, I'm jealous.

Another funny and very truthful top 10 video. One year ago on our very first RV trip we were talking to our neighbors who asked us how long we’ve been RVing. I told them this was our maiden voyage and they said we watched you from inside our camper and looked like you’ve been doing it for years the way I backed the camper up into lot. I told them thanks but didn’t tell them that I’ve had my CDL licenses since the mid 80s. Thanks for what you do guys!

Yeah, no. That will never happen from this camper... Any and all campers should pass by any campground asking for it. Take a look at your Social Security Card and take particular note of its stated purpose. The allowed misuse is unreal. More to the point, in my experience, it's challenge enough for campground personnel to use a computer, so I have ZERO trust whatsoever they could keep any of my personal information secure! I will be sure to camp elsewhere!

We handled biting flies by using a pool noodle and poking incense sticks into it. Place pool noodle on the ground, under awning behind your cooking station. The lightly, smoky fragrance keeps bugs away. We have also clipped them onto the awnings’ edge. Be mindful of falling ash

What a fun video! We laughed with you all the way-this list is so true! Add tarantulas to the list of bugs. We were at a park in NM where you had no idea during the day that tarantulas came out at night. 😱 My very wise husband didn’t tell me about them until we were on our way to our next stop. Thanks for being so real and fun to watch. It’s so evident that you enjoy life together. Y’all truly make lemons into lemonade, and that attitude is refreshing. We can all relate to the problems that occur while RVing, but it’s how you handle it that helps you get through it. Keep the videos coming; we so enjoy them! Our best to you.

Y'all are right on the money with these 10 things. The dishes are one we can definitely relate to. We carried Corelle dishes in our trailer while full timing for 5 years. When we settled down again, we moved them into our new house! 21 years later, they are still like new and we still use them. We have a new trailer now but Dottie fell in love with some plates made of some synthetic material, while pretty, you cannot microwave it or get it too hot or it will melt. It goes away and we'll use Corelle again. We've NEVER heard of places requiring a background check to stay a few nights. That's insane! They can copy my LTC (NICS Permit) or my Security Officer's License (also NICS), but they are NOT getting my SS number. We'll sleep in a Walmart parking lot before that happens.

Toll by plate: We use an EZPass and for the most part and it works well. But whenever we go over New Jersey bridges near Philadelphia, it charges us the wrong toll amount. Instead of $8 it charges our EZpass account $21. The human toll taker charges the correct amount, so we pay cash on these bridges. Screws:The first six months of owning our new trailer, I kept finding random screws around that I don’t know where they go! We don’t walk in our bare feet in fear of stepping on a rogue screw. The screws in the stove kept falling out. I finally added some glue to keep them in. Watching us: It seems like when I back into a site, all the neighbors come out. I do it too. It’s part of the fun of RVing. Good video, Thanks.

Lol so true, Hubs & I were in a Cape Breton Island campground struggling with our brand new “instant pop up” screen tent…a couple came over & thought they’d help us before we divorced 😂. Turns out the screen tent was broken! We returned it in Sydney the next day. The bugs were awful! But being Canadian we just used a lot more of our favourite summertime perfume-“Deep Woods”. The new one wasn’t instant so it goes up just fine. Loved NS & look forward to returning next year or the year after.

On our 1st big trip, we encountered stink bugs. Well you know what that means. I found one guy on youtube who has put a screen under his stairs were the return vent is for the furnace. The thought is any time the pass through is opened the bugs come in and enter the living area under the stair. I'm going to try a screen in mine I hope it works. Thanks.

We had all correll dishes in our fifth wheel until one travel day somehow a cupboard door opened and dumped them out onto the floor. They not only break but they shattered into very dangerous splinters. We replaced the broken dishes with stainless steel. All the correll dishes which remain are now kept in a very deep drawer low to the ground. The only problem with stainless steel is they get very hot. So, now we are looking into bamboo. I enjoyed this recommend video and decided to sub. ☺️

Fun Video and so true!! You asked for BUG TRICKS: I keep a disposable little glass of water with dish soap water to get the stink bugs. I put the glass over them and slowly move it on the ceiling or under them to kill them without the smell in the camper. NEVER VACUUM!! The smell will not go away. When the glass is full-ish I put it outside as a warning to other stink bugs! LOL. I also use a tin foil pan on a tray (in case of leaks) with an inch or so of water and dish soap on the counter at night with a desk light shining on the water. Usually have a few in the morning. I also put some cotton balls with peppermint oil into the vents where possible. For other bugs, I set up a dymo but my best defense is TWO electric tennis rackets ($4 each at harbor freight). I swing them around when they are driving me crazy. I also use them for the bugs on the screen walls. Work great!! My top FAVORITE RV helper - wished I knew about it years ago - is a small 'counter top' dishwasher. We installed ours below our sink but would have pulled it out to attached to the faucet if needed. LOVE IT! I just put those pesky dishes in there to keep them out of the sink until full. I usually run it every other day for two of us. It uses LESS WATER than hand washing so saves some room in the gray tank as well. Our's cost $280 two years ago. Keep them coming!!

It has happened to us twice and it's the most fear-inducing blood-curdling sound ever. It also splinters into the smallest pieces. The first time my toddler pulled a bowl off the counter and bam! Number 10 really hit home with me. We pulled into a campground and had a blindside, uphill, back-in site. We got in the site after trying 10 times and having the camp host cut off 3 posts so we could get the 5th wheel centered. By the time we got done, it was after 9pm and we were mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted. I'm sure most people had a good laugh, but it wasn't funny to us. What a day!

That is absolutely the best (and unfortunately the worst) story of the day. Thank you for sharing that. Yes, they were watching. I’m sure the office staff works hard to fit the right rig in the best spot, but sometimes it doesn’t work out. We tell people all the time that every now and then things don’t go as planned and you will arrive at night. So make sure to get really BRIGHT lights and light up your area. Unfamiliar RV Park, blind spots and hidden posts is a recipe for disaster. Sounds like you guys are professionals now. 😀 Way to go! Best, Pam & Lee

How awesome. Welcome! We love that area. In fact, our whole 4th Season on the channel is dedicated to getting to Ishpeming, Michigan for RV Repairs. We stayed in the Marquette area for a few months with a bent axle.

I agree that laundry is bad. Like you said, bring the wipes. I also purchased some sponge type things that have paws on them that keep the dog and cat hair off your laundry.

My wife and I are retiring into an RV in a few years. Our plans are not to criss-cross the Unites States, but to travel between our children, located in New Mexico, Colorado, and Montana. One of our kids is building a homestead on 20 acres and there are plans to include a level RV site for old Mom & Dad to park on for a couple of months at a time. We will be full time RVers, but not nomads. That said, we can relate to just about everything said in this video. Here's my take on your talking points: Bugs: Currently, we live on a horse ranch. Our house is less than 50 yards from the barn. The horses have 5 acres on which to roam. They can go in and out of the barn as they please. So where do they choose to do the majority of their pooping? At night, in the barn. So we spend a lot of time shoveling it up and putting it into a pile that we have to pay a guy to pick up once a month. The flies LOVE our property, and we get a lot of them in the house. When we transition to an RV, I don't see the situation getting any better. Hopefully, it won't get any worse, either. Tolls By Plate: Toll roads are usually marked on maps. Google Maps has an option to avoid toll roads. There aren't very many in the states where we plan to spend the majority of our time. I don't anticipate spending any time in the places where toll roads are a major concern. By that I mean the East. Toll roads are the bane of the Eastern United States. My travel plans specifically avoid everything east of I-75. My mother lives in Michigan and we plan to visit her now and then, but other than that, we will spend most of our time in the Western United States where free roads are commonplace. Dishes: I haven't had a dishwasher for quite a few years. When we moved into our house, it had a dishwasher, but I never liked it. I preferred how clean I got the dishes when I washed everything by hand. Eventually the dishwasher broke down and ceased working altogether, so I ripped it out and put a couple of shelves in its place. It's just my wife and I, so the dishes are easy to handle. I inherited a very nice set of antique china when my grandparents passed. We are planning to move all of it into our RV. For travel purposes, I have decided to put a sheet of padding in between each plate and bowl. Sounds like a pain, right? It is, but we only plan to pick up and move a few times a year, so it will be worth the effort to protect my heirlooms. I tried passing the china on to my daughters, but they weren't interested. I can't get rid of them; they're too precious to me. So in the rig they go! You were right. I haven't seen a lot of RV KZbin videos covering these topics. Your insights will be very helpful to my wife and I. Thank you!

The biggest bug problem we have is ants. They crawl up your power cable or water line. If you have a pet they absolutely love their food dish. Another thing I have noticed is if you can drive your car somewhere and it takes 4 hours it is going to take 8 in the motorhome. I wear a Garmin fitness tracker. I have noticed on travel days, even though my steps plummet, my burned calories increase by 900. Even though I sit in a comfy captains chair and feel relaxed my burned calories go way up. I have never had anyone ask for a social security number for a background check. How many times have you had this happen and in what states? I am a first time watcher and I just subscribed.

Welcome to the channel and Thank you. Ants are absolutely an issue. Background checks weren’t something we even thought of when we started. However, after our 5th park that asked we decided to mention it. Virginia and Florida are the top 2 so far. One was an older park and the other was a brand new park that just opened.

@@discoveryboundrv Wow! We are originally from Virginia and now call Florida home. Fortunately we haven't run into that yet. I definitely would find another park.

I find screws all the time too. I am going to have to crawl around to find where they came from one day. And SSN? I will have to know how they handle those before i give mine out. I worked in IT where we took payments and you can't just store those without a good bit of security. I suppose I could see the need to check for predators since there are a lot of kids in campgrounds but still leary of giving it out. BTW, we started Hangin' with the Harrises a few months ago and just came across your channel. Loved this one.

Honestly. Try Irish Spring bar soap. I have a 23 year diesel pusher and I don’t have bugs because of bars of soap. This can’t least help inside.

People never talk about how solar panels quit working when the weather isn't nice . They also never talk about how there going to charge there huge battery bank when it's drained. I just went to a rest area last night thinking that I was going to lay down and rest and do some deep thinking but right when I layed down a bunch of diesel semi trucks were idling and I had to end up leaving.
