Greenhorn’s Fatal Error Threaten Jake’s Chances To See Birth Of New Baby | Deadliest Catch

In an effort to make it back to see the birth of his new baby, Jake takes a risk by sending the Saga north in the hope that reports of crab will help him finish early. But his crew of greenhorn’s lack of experience and discipline cost him as they leave dead crab in the pots, keeping the live crab Jake needs to finish early away.

It's not so much of the crabs preference as it is the toxin will kill the other crab for coming anywhere near them. Crab are scavengers but if you notice, they never scavenge their own!
