The most important part of this discussion with Mr Soumyadeep Thakur was undoubtedly the general water change schedule according to the bio load of the tank which was not included in the discussion. This is a very important part that every discus keeping hobbyist wants to know and based on that if it's possible for any newcomers in the hobby to keep discus bcz the water change schedule in discus keeping is really a hectic matter and many hobbyist are unable to keep up in this routine. The bigger the tank the more chaos it generates. Manually it becomes impossible to keep up with the task. The more practical approach is a AUTOMATED water change system for the discus tank and ways to make this hobby more pleasant and enjoyable for beginners and newcomers.

I didnt get you as u said the most important part of dissussion in the vdo was the'water change schedule accordingly to bio load'and right after you mentioned we didnt discuss that. If you be precise i can understand better and reply you. It shouldnt be that it's upon understanding the water change part that a new hobbist should decide wether to keep discus or not. Yes its v important but as discus is not a beginner fish a hobbist after keeping other fishes for 3-4years should try discus and if a person new to rhe hobby starts keeping discus without any knowledge in dish keeping then it's dooms day for him. Yes w/c if properly.discussed is a vast subject to discuss &one of the most important point of keeping discus. Even a v experience hobbist can find it difficult to cope with regular w/c especially if fed heart mix. Bigger tank it difficult to maintain the day u are properly maintaining but contrarily it's easier to maintain if keeping lesser fishes.Yes a humongous tank with excessive height requires special care and maintainance. If you dont feed heart mix then w/c twice a week around 30-40% good enough.

@@anisaqua9817 Thank yoy Anirbanda, you have made your point very clear..as clear as water by ' then it's doomsday for him'. I have been keeping ornamental fishes since i was three years old when someone presented me with a small fish tank. I continued with the hobby till when i was in my late teens. After that due to work pressure..college, jobs i could not continue any more. Now in my late thirties i am nostalgic once more to the hobby 🙂. I kept all kind of ornamental fishes...specially different types of gold fishes but i never kept discus. The first time i saw discus in a LFS was in the nineties..at that time specialized technologies in fish keeping was not available in kolkata. I primarily used to buy all my ornamental fishes from a very reputable ( probably started in the 70's ) fish store in the CIT road. Yes i agree to your statement that discus is certainly not a beginners fish. I was going through this conversation between you and Mr Soumyadeep Thakur and i kind of felt that this water change schedule needs to be addressed bcz everybody in the discus keeping hobby react to this water change schedule with utmost priority. I am trying to get back in the hobby after a long period of time. Interested in discus but lack practical experience and knowledge. Maybe a small 60 P/H tank with tetras and Cory's or a 90P/H with Rainbow's to begin with.

As you have experience of discus keepinh you certainly can start. But would suggest to go for indian discus for atleast 9-10months, gather basic knowledge and practical experience which will boost your confidence and then if you feel jump to imported expensive ones.

Thank you so much for the feedback. Though it could be a tough one as the challenge could be the consent of the owner of Ro system. So will try to convince regarding that.Indeed it is a great learning topic.Thank you honestly for the idea as it didnt come to my mind. I will be the happiest person on earth if i can bring it out even if its for only one person i.e; you as there is no end to learning in our fish keeping hobby. It will help me enhance my knowledge as well. Thank you once again for the great idea.
