I really appreciate and respect how concerned you are for the animals’ well being. I can’t wait to get my nose on these future projects using this ethical civet!

I love the civet note and what it does in perfumery! I think the ethics around civet paste harvesting comes down to the person. Some people, of course, will always have a problem with it as long as it is not left behind by the animal without human intervention, however others might have different personal criteria as to what they consider harmful to the animal. I am sure there are a number of practices out there, however I think if the harvesters are truly confident that this process doesn’t hurt the animal they would be ok with posting a video of the process to let the viewer decide for themselves. I have yet to see this, which will always be suspect to me, but again it really comes down to your personal feelings of what constitutes as abuse of these animals. -Chris

Thank you but better only use synthetic civet imo. Its not necessary to have it from cats.

@areejledoreperfumes3 жыл бұрын
Civet Musk is very pungent and fecal with a honey type of sweetness wheres Deer Musk is a bit less pungent with a bloody, pissy and chocolaty sweet nuances.

@@areejledoreperfumes I understand that the Civet paste contains feces and urine which I assume would make it Najis ? Also the Civet is not a halal animal ? Is this type of Musk even halal ? It was my understanding only deer musk or synthesised is allowed ?
@areejledoreperfumes Жыл бұрын
@@amounifnd deer musk also may contain traces of urine. However, it is to do with the fact that the substance of civet is transformed. It is purified with a solvent. Then used in traces amounts in a perfume formula mixed with many other ingredients. So the principle comes that even if it's dirty it is no longer in its original state and it's mixed with other substances (highly diluted) which makes it pure/clean. Allah knows best.
