This is a fascinating viewpoint. His example of the two people watching television is particularly illustrative, and may sustain further metaphor, such as the idea that the program on the television being a single life, and when one program ends, another begins. Then there is the possibility of looking out of the window while the program is running, and seeing the 'real' world, to say nothing of, for example, getting up and fixing yourself a cup of tea. :)

That was the most amazing explanation of enlightenment ive ever heard, and ive heard it explained by just about every major enlightened being i could find on the internet and in books. Indeed, it seems to be enlightenment in a nutshell. You truly have a gift Mr. Spira.

You still talk of enlightenment as if it is some"thing" that can be classified objectively and put in a nutshell. It is simply the recognition of ones true nature. No experienced teacher claims to be enlightened, not even Rupert. The term is so misleading and misunderstood the best advice I might offer is to forget the word entirely.

How can one function being pure consciousness? To interact with the world of objects you must return to subject object relationships.

This takes time as one established themselves as awareness, by meditating, being Still, or being aware of being aware. As we come to know this more strongly, then we see that all creation and all beings arise within awareness, and then we see that they arise as awareness, as pure knowing- they are made up only of awareness. Ruperts Yoga mediation videos are wonderful for this. For anyone down this path, “whoever so knows themselves knows their lord” is a wonderful one. Just searching up “Rupert spira meditation pure knowing” will give many happy hours in coming to see the world as awareness alone. Happy being:)

Easy to explain this. Your awareness is your spirit being. You are a spirit being placed into a body both created by God. Your soul/spirit lives forever. The body does not. Easy peasy!

the most straightforward, understandable, and accurate description of the ineffable process of the spiritual journey through existence. Never before has anyone encapsulated the specifics of enlightenment so succinctly and without any added "stuff" to it, everything he puts out is so beautiful and consistently life changing. Thank you so much Rupert

No words I use can explain how valuable this teaching is for one to recognise the true nature of our being. After years of following the progressive path and pop culture spiritualism , I found myself repeating cycles of supposed healing and suffering within the ego personality. After following Rupert and reading all his books with emphasis on the The Direct path, True spiritualism, I have finally come back home. Absolute gratitude.

Rupert, I (?) love your videos, your explanations are clear, concise and very well paced. I have a question I would love to have answered by someone. If free will (from the body mind perspective) is an illusion, and our actions are driven by our true self. Why then did this true self not 'choose' to take the path that I am on now, much earlier in life, given that it is in its best interest? Thanks
@RogerDrayton
@RogerDrayton 8 жыл бұрын
+Peter Mcmullan Hi PETER...To answer your question briefly or using the 'readers digest version', somehow you're mixing the separate self with Awareness...Your question presumes that 'TIME" is real and that there is an individual 'you' with a 'personal consciousness' that didn't choose earlier. Eventually you'll realize that the deeper 'WHY' question is of the mind in this dimension, however, Awareness is non-dimentional. Furthermore, what can be done to an illusion other than recognizing it as such?....Stay with the I Am or as Rupert often says - ABIDE AS AWARENESS !!!
@remainertears
@remainertears 8 жыл бұрын
+Peter Mcmullan Awareness doesn't chose, it doesn't know "life" or "its best interests"" it only knows itself, nothing else is known.

@@RogerDrayton Okay, the part I'm hazy about is this: How (why?) does consciousness become a localized consciousness at birth, so that it is aware of only the experience of one body---one "separate self"?
@RogerDrayton
@RogerDrayton 5 жыл бұрын
@@wcotton Saying that Consciousness is localized is really a concession to the belief of being born and living in a body...It's all a modulation of consciousness being mixed with objects, and forgetting itself in the same way that we believe our dreams are real while we are dreaming...Stay with it Warren, eventually( sort of speaking) you'll understand more clearly that which is 'hazy' now...This hazyness is only from the perspective of mind and not from your TRUE SELF (Awareness)...Peace, I Am !!!
@wcotton
@wcotton 5 жыл бұрын
@@RogerDraytonThank you, Roger, but that doesn't answer my question. I'll try to be more clear: How or why does consciousness choose a particular child's body to identify with? Why that one and not some other?

In the book KUndalini Kriya Yoga by Satyananda Saraswati I was reading about same process just in yogic terminology - when Kundalini is rising this is freeing the ego from the body and mind identity, separating process Then when Shakti merge with consciousness at the top of the head it is Infinite Shiva Shakti. This is enlightenment. Then after some time of samadhi, it might take weeks, months or years - this same Shiva Shakti is descending again and when it return to first chakra this bring enlightenment into the world of duality - advaitam. It is the same process. When Shakti is still at Saharara this is probabyl the state of avadhoot and when it return into the objective world it is jivanmukta. The same process happened to all enlightened ones. Just in some cases like the Buddha it seemed to happened at once but I am not sure what was exactly his process. Maybe that is the difference between avatara and jivanmukta.

+ProVeg i think they have a non-conceptual sense of self, not the symbolic-ego that only a human being might get... and that only if he's part of a social group. a human being that doesn't have social contact, like feral children, doesn't have any ego-sense like we do. scientists flock whenever a feral child case appears in the world to study such aspects. if you ask anyone who he is... he undoubtably "knows"! he'll tell you his name, job, hobbies, personality traits, etc. but all that are just "labels" that he learned and appropriated by contact with other people. a feral individual doesn't even "know" if he's an angry individual, or lazy, or beautiful, depressed or any other ego self image, let alone names or social status. for us, in the western world especially, this means that when we identify with our ego's all we really are is copy/pasted externalities... without any genuine metaphysical core of existence. ego as metaphysical being it's an obvious illusion of culture, but illusions have a reality of their own... just not in animals

+Twit from Uranus I think he was bang on with the interpretation of the 'zen thingy' about rivers and mountains. When we move away from realism into idealism then rivers and mountains are no longer understood as physical rivers and mountains but rather as ideas (mental objects) appearing as-if independent of the mind while actually known by and existing in minds (mental subjects). This is a type monism (both are mental) but still has a subtle duality of subject-object relationship and a multiplicity of many individual minds - all be it encompassed by one World Mind. When finally when 'we reach' Non-duality we know that they were always rivers known by awareness but we now understand what 'a river known by awareness' means and how the known rivers and mountains have never actually been separate from the knowing awareness since there is, was and can be only; Unlimited Awareness.
