Comedy Central did, in fact, censor this episode to not allow Mohammed to be viewed. Trey Parker and Matt Stone wrote the South Park episode called "201" (Season 14, episode 6) to address this problem. You should definitely watch that episode soon since it fits in so well with this theme.

Seth McFarlin, when asked about the feud with South Park, said that he knows that's a battle he can't win, so he's avoiding it... something along those lines. And... I heard that this episode was a response to Family guy getting an award over south park.

Yea that part when they censored Muhammad was legit. I believe that the creators of South park knew he would be censored but they still wanted to make these 2 episodes to prove a point to all TV channels as well as comedy central who employs South park. I also believe they were clearly trying to prove a point to all of us as well. Facts. Feel free to prove me wrong guys. Love all your reactions bro! This episode is also a meta commentary on how the show is actually produced. They do everything in under 6 days, start to finish, and near the end they're always fighting with Standards and Practices over what they can and cant get away with, and generally only have a final copy until just hours before airing

As a diehard fan of both family guy and south park, this was interesting to say the least. It's kinda funny, Matt and Trey have made it no mystery that they hate FG for its over-reliance on random gags. However, I have to give them credit for at least acknowledging the show's popularity and trying to understand why it's as popular as it is. Compare this to every single time FG has referenced Bob's Burgers just to take potshots at it for being more popular than it while denying that it's actually had plenty of good jokes in the past, it's just less edgy and more subtle than most adult cartoons.

To explain The "Muhammed" thing, the Islamic religion is heavily Iconoclastic, meaning they do not allow depictions of their prophets, which includes all Abrahamic prophets; with Muhammed being the most Haram of them all to depict. Depicting Muhammed is considered punishable by Death, or usually has a Fatwa called against you. And Matt and Trey back in 2001 depicted Muhammed in the episode "Super Best Friends." Not negatively, mind you, he was actually pretty helpful in defeating David Blaine; no, the problem begins and ends with "They made Muhammed." This got death threats sent to Comedy Central HQ, so they decided to try censoring any and all (5) depictions of Muhammed; hence why he's depicted with a big black censor bar. That didn't work, so they pulled all 5 episodes from ever available legal source where he's front and center. Those being "Super Best Friends" "Cartoon Wars 1 & 2" And "200 and 201" They're pulled from syndication, streaming, DVD releases; everything. And all because they drew Muhammed.
