In german "quer" is another word for diagonal. In a sense "not straight". So it meaning "weird" makes sense in a way.

@@rgonzalo511 I mean, it wasn't part of people's regular speech by then ofc, but nobody was ignorant of the meaning of the word. If you heard something being referred to as queer it was pretty likely to mean odd. "Odd" is still the first definition in most dictionaries, unlike a term like gay who's first meaning has been replaced by it's sexual orientation definition. Hell, the Q was only "officially" recognized as part of the acronym LGBT in freaking 2016

@@OmegaFalcon idk know about that. Dude who's watching the video grew up in the 2000s and he never heard the word being used like that. I also grew up in the 00s and I never heard it being used like that either. Maybe you mean the old ppl back then. Causs the youth back then only used it in one way. And that was as an insutlt towards gays.
