This might be irrelevant, but please let me rant: I think there's a way to prevent the intruder from crossing the mirror for a while. In the 3rd case, the first thing Toast need to do was to figure out the exact date and time of the murder using the Thanatos thingy. From my understanding, the way that the wheel work is completely normal, no spiritual connection is needed because Toast is basically trying to understand the meaning between the victim's name, zodiac, and numbers with the wheel. Unlike the dowsing rod, which needs the ritual candle to be lit so the rod can show us who is where and at what time. So far, every time the mirror is 'opened', it happened when the ritual candle is still lit. That means the mirror probably acts as some sort of portal between the real world and the spirit realm, and if the candle is not lit, the mirror can't be opened, therefore no intruder can go across.

But he can’t investigate at all of the candle isn’t lit because the rod wouldn’t work

@@_Snix That's why I said he didn't need to light the candle until he needs to use the rod... the Thanatos wheel can work just fine without the candle being lit, and that's what he needed to do before he use the rod
