When my son was little every Sunday I used to take him shopping. I had a Suzuki Grand Vitara V6 for family stuff and when it was wet I used to give it some and drift it around the supermarket car park. Never a problem until one day I failed to notice a random abandoned shopping trolley and of course I whacked it. I hit it so hard it shot away and ricocheted into two parked cars. best not to ask who was the general manager of the supermarket…

Tornador sells a vacuum attachment. It basically combines the air compressor into a tool that you can attach to a wet-dry vacuum so that you can blow stubborn dirt out of the carpet and vacuum it up in a single motion, without having to get dirt everywhere and then vacuum it up. They sell it on the Tornador website, it's called the ZV-240 Velocity-Vac. I'd highly recommend you check it out if you use your tornador often. It'll save you a lot of time.

Great Job as always Gary, thanks for saying the dilution on the g101, many years ago a few of us were out and had a few to many sherberts and on the way home we threw one of the lads over a garden wall, we didn't see the police and they came running over, one of them leaned over the wall and was pulled over by my friend, cops came out of everywhere and eventually they saw the funny side of things 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mountain biking round a reservoir, saw hardly a soul for a couple of hours, came flying down a hill, big crowd, couldn’t stop in time, pedal caught a tree stump, I flew, landed, broke my wrist and had to ride 6 miles back to the car, so that I could go to A &E to be checked out. Btw, keep it going Gary, love the channel

Beginning the restoration of a '58 180D Merc, I was reminded the .3 hector lawn needed mowing. I started the small lawn tractor, reversing out of the garage, but it would not go forward. Thinking I'd set the parking brake, I dismounted the tractor, which leapt forward and plowed into the Merc wing just forward of the drivers door. I must have watched too many episodes of Lucy and Ethel. Narragansett Bay

Wow, lots of work went into this Toyota Proace :) In the 90's my parents built a house and we too had a 1980 Toyota Hiace 2,2 diesel to carry construction stuff, and it certainly got dirty as well :D Sadly it broke down before the house was finished and got sold as is to the next owner. The rest of the build we managed with 1988 Opel Kadett and a trailer :) Some non-original car parts can be indeed regrettable buys, but how could one tell beforehand, if it's good or bad. After all, those parts too are intended to be installed to the car, and not sold as a "to be thrown to the trashcan straight away" :D
@refa423 жыл бұрын
The only thing Toyota on Proace is the badge. It's either a Citroen or a Peugeot, and I'd rather take an old Hiace on our Finnish roads. Since they stopped giving us the HIace in 2012, I presume that's the latest one can get.

I didn’t total my car on a world famous track, but I did regret cheaping out on car parts! I couldn’t afford a whole timing belt kit for my Subaru, so I got just the belt, no water pump, tensioner, or pulleys. Big mistake! 6 months, the lower pulley bearing went bad and all the balls fell out, and the engine died half a mile from my house, had to push it home (uphill!). A few hours later I found out that somehow, by some miracle, the valves didn’t get bent! A new timing belt AND the rest of the kit got it running again.

Love these videos! Normal cars, that are genuinely dirty rather than a lot of other videos where it's all just a massive blag. My most recent "why did I do that" moment was buying a van to do up and sell on that my inner mechanic was screaming don't do it but I did, and 2 weeks later piston 4 decided it felt a bit too claustrophobic in the cylinder so made a break for freedom🤦♂️🤣 what can you do eh but move on to the next one

Mines not as an expensive mistake as yours but, what I did. I did to save money and it it was, one of my biggest regrets. And it was, I bought felt lined clothes hangers. They are a nightmare to hang clothes on. Bloody stick to anything and when you come to take a Tshirt off, its that much of a ball ache, there creased again when you eventually do get them free. Top vids mate 👌

Not really a "daft" thing but I remember my mom selling my SNES to a pawn shop type of place called Cash Converters here in Ontario, Canada for like $25. Now original retro consoles (not re-released ones) like that are going for sometimes hundreds on eBay because the demand for them has gone up since Sony decided to get censor happy with their new games, it's negatively affected the sales of the PS5 in their home country of Japan. Seems unimportant now but it's taught me to hang onto my vintage consoles and take good care of the original games for them as well.

Beautiful job!! I like this van, it has trays! To answer your question: I once made a really nice raspberry cobbler for a party. It had a bit of raspberry juice and the baking tray was deep. So I slapped on a layer of foil and got ready for the party. A friend said, “there’s a better Tupperware with a sealing lid, you should use it.” Said no thanks because it wasn’t going to be that bad. Placed the cobbler in the back seat and drove. No wild turns, I promise, but when I got there the juice was all over the seat. It looked like my period came and I didn’t think of packing emergent tampons! 🤦🏻♀️ I regret it. The clean up was easy, but still… completely avoidable.

I’ve been meaning to mention this for a while. When you use the pulse gun (what happened to the Tornador?) could you not, through the power of duct tape, attach the vacuum nozzle along side it so any blown debris, more gets sucked up as you go? And what steam cleaner do you use. I have a Karcher one, KC3 which is ok, but wish pressure could be a little higher, but the worst part, but same as most domestic cleaners, is you get about 15 seconds of pressure before you have to stop and let the water boil again and build up more pressure, so on that car, that would have taken ages! Anyway another fine job. What’s next?! 🤣

Nice job and nice vid Gary. G101 on headlining… I bought a Freelander 2 with a headlining similar to the one that you just did in this vid. Couldn’t find much except gloom and doom on KZbin about destroying headlining by getting it too wet and using too powerful products, and we all know the power of G101. But I decided to have a go anyway. With a ringpiece twitching like a rabbit’s nose thinking about how many kidneys I would have to sell to buy a new Landy headliner when I ruined it, I blindly decided to do what you did with a 1-10 dilution G101, a microfibre and a softish detailing brush to work out some of the oilier bits. I didn’t get it too wet and it came up as new with no sagging or other issues.

Great video, the end result was amazing, with regard to your Nurburgring incident, I always use genuine OE replacement parts and consumables, after hearing this I will definitely continue that trend, an embarrassing incident I had, (no where near as dramatic or costly as yours), involves detailing, when I was just starting to make it a hobby, I watched hours of tutorials on machine polishing, and thought I could do that, so I washed my newish car, broke out the cheap DA I bought on line, primed the pad and began, only to then go on and realise that the equally cheap pads I had fitted didn’t quite overlap the backing plate, so I managed to hold the machine at an angle and the backing plate gouged the paint down to the bare metal, I had to then have the bonnet resprayed at considerable expense, the only positive being that the very minor swirls had now gone lol 😂😂😂
