This is a new connect I finished up the other day. I go over the process on how to build the satellite, mount the Dish, how to run wire, what receivers I'm installing and so much more. I have a day in the life video on my channel so check that one out too!

I have an eastern arc HD pro dish I use camping on an anchored tripod. I'm using a 3 head LNB with a Walley just fine. Here's my issue: The biggest issue I have with my Dish reflector is, when setting the angle, there isn't a specific indicator for the angle. What do you go by? The center of the tightening bolt in the angle scale or ? The skew has a tiny little pointer to indicate what number it's pointing at. The dish angle adjustment doesn't seem to have a mark. What do you use?

I used to work for DISH. You seem to know what your doing but I noticed something with your receiver process. A way to save time is when you get the dish up and hook up to the node or hubby, find the hopper line first. Hook it up, start downloading the hopper then come back to toning the rest of the lines, hook them up, then start unpacking all of the them. By the time your ready for Joeys, the hopper is done

That's good advise man. I used to do this but now we have these USB sticks with the software already on them so I just plug it in the hopper to power, then it starts downloading software from the USB, no coax needed. They save a ton of time.
@CptArnie
@CptArnie 2 жыл бұрын
I used to be a tech and before I left we also used the USB to download the hopper. It saves a lot of time when it works. For some reason the hopper duo didn't like to take the software all the time and would have to do a satellite download.

@@dishtech4533 Hopper 1s need to be retired. The technology on them is highly outdated, and they operate poorly. I love Hopper Duos; despite the download issues, they have a short time installing. I have been having an issue where my lower channels, under 62 will go out, but higher channels work fine. Would this be a dish alignment issue or an LNB problem? This is with a Hopper 3 with sling. Dual LNB at the dish and 1 joey. Looks like it uses satellites 61.5 and 72.

I used to work for Dish back in 2008, it was the most frustrating career choice i had ever taken on. At that time the HD orbital was just being rolled out and the orbital kept on falling out of alignment, we had tons of call backs for no HD. That sat buddy had a lousy battery life and would die after 20 minutes, the receivers took forever to update before the customer training could take place. Along with that, hours were spent setting up wild blue just so the customer could open there yahoo emails. That install looks like pie, no trees and plenty of old install points to update.
@dishtech4533
@dishtech4533 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah there's a lot of frustration with the Hoppers now a days. The software is the main one. Going from Dish Pro Plus to Dish Pro Hybrid makes it a cake walk. You only need 1 line from dish, and they replaced solo nodes with hybrid solo hubs, which act as a splitter for the hopper and Joey's. The only thing is the Hoppers are very sensitive to cable. The cable has to be 3ghz cable and all barrels have to be blue barrels for the system to be stable. That in itself requires the entire system to be looked over at every single job.

Great video! Hoping you can help as I take down my Dish and install an OAT antenna. My Dish Satellite has two coax cables that connect to a dual connector that’s attached to the house wall. How do I determine which connection to attach the single coax cable that runs from the OAT antenna? Or do I need to rip out the existing dual connector and replace with a single one? Appreciate your advice.
@Kiesterish
@Kiesterish Жыл бұрын
Dish receivers only need 1 cable from a dish. The dual is usually for backup in case the main cable goes bad or to power a second receiver with tuners. Just pick a cable to use, either one will do the trick for an OTA Antenna.
@HumbleMunster
@HumbleMunster 5 ай бұрын
Depends. If there’s two wires connected and you have vip you probably need them. If hopper system unscrew it with a 7/16 wrench and if you cable goes out you need that one. Then install you ota antenna facing. Tower and viola.!

Very interesting videos! I hope you keep making them! I just got dish in Houston and my second day I had to call a tech already because I got the infamous error code 535. Never picked up the signal. @dishtech4533
@dishtech4533 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Your 129 signal is very low. That would fail a test. The fact you have strong signal on 119, then drops on 110, and really drops on 129 would probably indicate that either the mast the Dish sits on is not level, or the skew on the Dish is messed up. When signal is strong on 1 sat and low on the other, it means something is crooked. Signal should be as follows: 74 - 119 72- 110 54 - 129

Is it possible w/ Dish to have a 4 room setup but in one room (basement) NOT see the recordings for the other 3 boxes? For example right now we have mediacom & we have 2 dvrs (1 downstairs w/ no minis) & upstairs the other dvr shares its recordings w/ the other 2 minis up there. Again I DO NOT want to see the recordings for the 3 other rooms, I only want to see the recordings on my dvr. The 3 rooms upstairs can share recordings. Directv would NOT let me speak with a technician & can't give me a straight answer! I don't think its possible with their new genie 2 since it's one 2tb dvr that runs all the clients wirelessly (I've heard the Genie 2 sucks & freezes constantly). Wireless is not reliable that's why I run ethernet to my mediacom dvrs. Still not sure if directtv will lease me 2 Genie 1 dvrs (HR54's) or if 1 Genie would allow me to have my own recordings seperate.

The best way I’ve found to be successful in sales is to make professional recommendations for certain products that could benefit them throughout your walkthrough at the start of the job. But, from what I can tell, even if you were to sell an average of 1 surge a day your metrics should be good enough to at least keep your job. It depends what you sell. If you sell a full surround sound system you can go like a week or 2 without selling anything to keep your job. It's not that bad or hard.
