I don't even own dishonored 2 or death of the outsider yet, but i feel kind of neutral about it tbh. Like they kind of had to make an indirect sequel to dishonored other wise the story and lore of the first game would have felt pointless, but I feel they could have mad something even greater if they made a whole new story in a whole new area, and having characters like corvo and daud referenced by the outsider every now and then.
@johnathangrishaw30967 жыл бұрын
Frazzle Dazzle it makes sense if you think about it. Daud became an assassin because the Outsider gave him his power, and he knew nothing else. The Outsider knew it was a very high possibility that would happen and let hundreds die because he was bored. Daud looks at some one who uses powers very much like his own for good and is inspired, but realizes if Corvo hadnt done that he'd have destroyed half Dunwall. Daud realizes the Outsider will continue giving his mark out and lead to thousands and thousands of deaths just for his amuesment. He also never refers to the outsider as human, so in his mind killing the Outsider is like destroying a meteor to save the earth from destruction.
@GZilla3115 жыл бұрын
The book makes sense of it. Basically, he believes everything he did is the Outsider's fault. He refuses to accept responsibility for what he's done. It's why he's still a villain while Billie can be better because she admits it's just PEOPLE not some god TELLING them to do it.

@Sanguiluna7 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's that he doesn't see Low Chaos Corvo as a threat, it's all a matter of honor, which is one of the predominant themes in the game (hence the title): Low Chaos Corvo is a warrior who despite the efforts of so many to strip him of his honor, still fought and carried himself with honor; Daud recognizes this, so he fights him honorably, likely because he sees in Corvo the man HE used to be before he let his power corrupt him. But High Chaos Corvo is a cold remorseless killer who has freely cast aside honor in favor of revenge and bloodlust (much like Daud's path), so likewise Daud proceeds to fight using his normal honorless means.

Low Chaos is especially heart-wrenching because he realized, he could always follow the path Corvo did. But Daud was too weak and cowardly to do so. I thought that death of the outsider was dumb as well considering the outsider does nothing life doesn't already do by giving people power whether or not they deserve it (aka social status, wealth, inherited business while people like Corvo exist making something out of himself with his own skills and hard work and you choose if even humans like him can be corrupted). Hes a completely neutral power I don't think he deserves to be killed or lose his powers but the death of the outsider makes it so the context changes and hes no longer a human turned demigod hes somehow suffering (he looks fine to me, I dont want a new asshole to show up and be worse than him either way) which I dont see why it happened other than to have a narrative where you need to strip him of his powers. It does ignore the point of the games in that you dont need to use it to kill people, and Daud never had to do what he did living as the leader of a super-powered gang of assasins I would have hired those dudes to work under the crown, need a new spy master anyways and having eyes and ears an elite squad working directly under the royal protector who knew he needed someone to protect from the shadows while he watches Emily from the light. Literally would have stopped Dishonored 2 and the Duke of Serkonos, would have stopped all the gangs in the city, would have gotten rid of the corruption in the city guard and overseers. Hell it might even get rid of the need for overseers if they tracked witches. That would have stopped the kidnapping of children they do ... Have them all die at the beginning of 2 or have them hidden throughout the city as operatives hiding as civilians to help Corvo or Emily somehow. Isn't this all better than them roaming wild? They were all loyal to the point one captured by overseers killed himself with a hidden needle of lethal poison. Anyways Daud goes back on what he learned when he says "I've had enough killing" and realizing that the outsider isn't to blame for giving him power? You wanted power and got it you are the sole person to blame. The void will always exist and it will in the lore just find a new outsider and maybe this one will think twice about helping humans or being neutral to them ...
@MrJefferson073 жыл бұрын
I agree with most of what you say but there is nothing to blame in killing, because killing humans is an obligation for Justice.

You don't have to kill the Outsider, you know. I prefer not to.
@cameronroy21292 жыл бұрын
@@RipleySawzen a year later huh, well I think I noted that yeah you don't have to kill him but both options take a hardline stance on a neutral deity. I'm pretty sure my point here is that the motivation for Daud is downright character assasination (ironic assasination of an assasin) but this also goes for the outsider as well. The plot runs on retconning the outsider and the history of the games as well but also in how the outsider was just the incarnation of the void basically, the representation of it and for all that he wasn't really that bad. By making the changes to blame the outsider it ruins the complexity of the morality of the games in being controlled by power and violence and revenge. The Outsider was generous if anything or a representation of some people getting advantages others don't but cam use it do something good or bad they wouldnt normally be able to achieve (in a way it was hope) now you play as people with a mixed up moral compass blaming their choices on someone else instead of taking responsibility and not even the plot takes notice of that. It's like this The outsider hands someone a gun, they go on to shoot someone to save their daughter The outsider gives someone else a gun They shoot a person for money and say "why has the outsider done this" There is complexity to the void and the corruption it can cause but the Outsider has been a neutral force if anything, doesn't taking him out if thr void leave it open for a worse incarnation even if you didn't kill him? I compare it to something like Batman honestly, batman gets blamed because supervillains pop up to meet him, however its more complicated than "it's Batmans fault" But the choice of taking the outsider away from the position he's in is just as problematic as killing him and while it should have been saying no and coming to terms with the choices we make and sometimes have to make still being out own choices ... instead it feels as if the story still blames the outsider or wrote him to be a victim to take him out of the position. Either way both options feel like really serious options that both essentially accomplish the same thing which was only done because of the flawed purpose. Even if he isn't killed he's still essentially being blamed for it. The story writes to try to make everything chill but it makes it feel like any complexity has been thrown away and gives very limited choice for a complex issue. The other games were more understandable but now it's revenge for a flimsy reason and they've changed many of the character to make it happen. It's contemplating letting him live but it doesn't contemplate the flimsy root of the issue which is ... why? This doesn't solve anything or help anyone it arguably makes the world worse.
@BlossomPathOnStage152 жыл бұрын
This is why I love the first Dishonored Oustsider lore/origin before they retconning everything. Outsider is not a villain nor is he a hero. He just exist there giving people power whether they deserve it or not and if *you* kill people with that power that's on you not the guy that gave you that power. Because power never corrupts, it just reveal what's already there. Vera Moray was already a psychopath, Daud was always an assassin even before the mark but Corvo? He was no-named nobody growing up from nothing until he finally reaches the top with his own hardwork even after everything falling apart he still fight with honor and when he succeeded making Emily the Empress he was content with his life until he dies. Again the first Dishonored I mean.

Someone kills someone with a knife. someone else says: "This is the work of the outsider" This was the position of the outsider in the only dishonored I have played... the first one. @JabamiLain4 жыл бұрын
@Bruh Man I know. I wrote this when I was too consumed by my hate to understand why Daud insisted in fighting rather than helping Corvo. Because he didn't know if he had turned Corvo into a vengeful monster like everyone in Dunwall said when he killed Emily and he had to know that before either killing or freeing him out there. But now I freed myself and forgave him.

I doubt Corvo would take his word for it, after all he has no reason to trust anything he says and pretty much every reason to want him dead.

I loved my playthrough, but these videos do go to show that my style caused me to miss quite a bit as I played through the game trying to go completely undetected, simply blinked behind him and choked him out. That being said, I take satisfaction in just imagining the outcome. He'll know what happened when he wakes up, he never saw me, no one did. He'll know I left him alive, and he didn't even need to say his piece. That's gotta be confusing for him; will just be left wondering about my Corvo.

daud is just like that dragonborn become dark brotherhood member In Skyrim while trying to kill emperor titus mede II (2?) And Yes Those Whalers (Daud's Assassination organization I think) Are Just Dishonored's Dark Brotherhoods, Hired Assassins To Kill Those Requested Targets Even He Conformed Lord Regent's plan (Amaund Motierre is Skyrim's Lord Regent I think?)to kill Empress and of course He Kill Delilah for good Sake But Still.....

I want to fight Daud just enough to trigger the cut scene where he's beaten, but I don't want to kill him - however, he's really easy to kill during combat. Does anyone have any tips on how to beat him up without accidentally assassinating him??
@greysmith77632 жыл бұрын
Hope you don't mind playing game after 7 months. Don't use sword after parrying him, don't use sword while sneaking, you can still strike him when he is not in "unbalanced" stance. Range weapons also helps, even a barrage of bullets or bolts wont instantly kill him iirc.

"I've had enought killing", "I'd give back all the coin if I could." but bro, you were about to making bargains to double your money for giving corvo alive. also he knew corvo wouldn't kill him so he played a little drama show. I know most of you guys love him but he is a bit inconsistent. (i didn't kill him either, stole his wallet and disappeared like a og)
@virgiljianu71664 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. I think that Daud knew very well that his duel with Corvo was inevitable,but he thought that by handing him over he might be able to delay the inevitable since he was scared that he might very well not see the next day due to Corvo (for good reason). When he learns that he managed to escape,he accepts that he'll have to fight him and that he'll most likely be at the end of his blade in the end. He could have simply ran or tried to hide,but he doesn't since like I said,he most likely knew that it was going to happen regardless. This symbolises (at least to me) his regret for killing the Empress and his willingness to redeem himself, that's why he's willing to leave himself to Corvo's mercy in the end and accept any decision he'll take regarding him.

Daud is *almost* a better character than Corvo. His redemption arc is more compelling, and at the very end, he owes his very life to a man who is more powerful, who is faster, who is just *better*, and who has every reason to want him dead.
