It seems odd that having adopted only one twin, that they would be surprised that the other twin might turn up one day.

It hit with me also. I was a foster kid who accidently discovered I had a brother when I was 15 years old. We've kept in touch. I'm now close to 80.

I had twins at 19, back in 74, they didn't have ultrasound. I was really surprised. Happily 😊. My sister tried to get me to give one up for adoption. I'm like hell NO, I mean how do you even think about it. Which one would you give up. I'm almost 70, glad I have them and another daughter. My twin mono mono are so close. It's uncanny. Those people should've taken both girls. I'm so sorry you lost your sister. My deepest condolences. ❤

As I understand from the beginning, they are not their biological parents. The two girls are abandoned twins and were separated because only one was adopted while the other grew in a foster home. So why would they ask for forgiveness from Kate for?
@natwil7353 ай бұрын
No forgiveness needed really. They feel bad that their daughter's identical twin sister had a crappy life when she did not need to because the wealthy parents lost their own biological child and passed off Emily as their OWN deceased child, most likely a daughter for keeping up appearances probably with their affluent friends who knew of the pregnancy with only one child, not twins. Thus, if indeed this is what occurred, they are feeling guilty over SEPARATING twins and leaving one to be in foster home or raised by someone else... while depriving their adopted daughter of a sister they could have financially afford to adopt. The guilt is even worse that Kate never got adopted and her life in comparison to her twin is deplorable. In reality, Kate's life as a new 18 years old isn't deplorable. She has a tiny apartment and got a job in a very nice restaurant while saving to start college. It sounds like she also volunteer at a hospital and there is a doctor on staff who she and the doctor might hit it off later. Thus the guilt of not adopting Kate is just people feeling guilty for no true valid reasons.

I know how Kate feels. something missing, wanting to go home but not knowing where 'home' is. Suppose to have a sister somewhere in this world. I still (sorta) keep waiting for a phone call that will answer the questions i have. Just don't know. I guess that is why I liked to travel so much for work. Also looking for answers. I go out for weeks long ride on my motorcycle and then i decide it's time to go home, it never fails that i ask myself 'where is home'. I have no answer.

Okay, sweet story. But there are some real problems with it, First of all, a cute blond-haired blue-eyed girl who was stuck in the foster care system until she reached 18? This NEVER happens, at least in the US. Cute White kids get adopted as infants. Next, if for some reason she never gets adopted, she would be booted out at 18 with nowhere to go and no money. How is it she has an apartment? These aged-out kids end up in homeless shelters until they have a job and can afford a room somewhere. This is why a lot of them wind up as sex workers or some older guy's mistress if they are cute. Next, Emily's parents are not her parents. Why would they feel guilt? I can see them taking Kate in as Emily's twin sister, even sending her to college with Emily. But Kate never applied to that college. Maybe when she does apply, her grades and test scores don't get her in. Emily probably went to an exclusive private school with a lot of college-bound classes and tutoring if she needed it. Kate had a very different public school experience. Getting accepted by a college does not get your relatives in, unless daddy paid for a building. Finally, living in foster homes is way different from having real parents. Adoptive parents pay for the kid. Foster parents get paid by the government per kid.

Did I miss something? I thought the guy who saved Kate from falling would turn out to be Emily's boyfriend. That would have put a twist in the story.
