BtToS was a hugely influential album for me and my friends growing up, it literally was like a soundtrack to our adventures and it made us want to get lost and go further. The three of us once took a cheesy photo during a long aimless hike, we were in a field with a sunset behind us, and I remember my buddy named the jpeg ‘Three Neuron Kings’. Funny how in the final clean vocal moments and lyrics I feel an allusion to that moment! I haven’t been in touch with those friends for a while, I think it’s time! Thank you Disillusion, for completing the cycle.

I am so happy to hear the kind of craziness/rage style of BTTOS like at 6:18. If think that made a good part of why this album is so highly regarded today, as this raging style at the time was so pure and not a musical formula because the singer is so into his emotions. But there lie the paradox for me : here it's like recreating what made BTTOS great, and it becomes a formula. I still really really like this song. I wish there's still place in the album for experimentations (Am I the only one to praise Gloria?)
@UrZNL5 жыл бұрын
LBSira there is.. I hear some of the industrial and weirder sounds in ALEA and The Great Unknown. This song also has some very abrupt changes. To me it’s like they taken both styles and added some new stuff to it too. It’s beautifully rich with its flavors

For a band as diverse as Disillusion to expand so quaquaversally in all the ways that are most important... Bigger arrangements and production... heavier riffs... more emotive harmonies... more complex progressions... addictive rhythms!!! More challenging in general. FRAIL DECEIT DEFEAT - This is going to be up there with the best albums Prophecy have ever put out. I wonder if some of the more feral vocal moments are inspired in part by label mates A Forest of Stars perhaps!?

"I am an echo A lightless beacon in a cutting storm An empty shell within a maze straying back and forth A thought that never vanished A wound that would never heal I have been northbound Months and years in Hiemal Winds that cut like spells - briskly they enfold The leafless tree This will be the end of all Endless nights, a barren heart In dreadful morrow - defoliation And here I am in my wintertide of faith What have I become? I'm a shadow! A relentless mirage Dire circles of reminiscence So distant now what once did lie so clear at hands A rout I can't atone A wound that would never heal Counting hours - years in desolate Who chose failure - now will have to live with it Dreams ignite! And die - by the fireside And in night-time longing and wintertide reveries In a slumber, in a dream, in the glistening white I see In night-time longing and wintertide reveries In the welkin, in a breeze, in crystalline euphony Believe! But tonight only clamour and dismay are echoing Over firn and ice and back they bring All them voices muttering of chagrin and defeat I was in reach of orb and crown. Could be king to the fire I could have ruled in purple gown Now all that's left is ire Believe! A dismal truth In nards that no sun has ever seen No further tales will ever sever The hour's growing late for the weak and faint-at-heart A comfort never earned, deserved Coward! Frail. Deceit. Defeat. This is the end of all In my woe. A world aglow. Let go of me Dreams ignite. And then they die Let go of me. Forever and a day Right here, this will be the end of you A feather to the four winds A sparrow to the sun In my woe. A world aglow. Let go of me. Let go of me Dreams ignite. And then they die. Let go of me In night-time longing and wintertide reveries In a slumber, in a dream, in the glistening white I see In night-time longing and wintertide reveries In the welkin, in a breeze, in crystalline euphony Whenever I close my eyes And stare into the sun Whenever in memories Through golden fields we run In every waking sleep In every time of need Whenever the soul will weep Carry on! Here in my wintertide of faith"

I don't know what this album is yet, but one thing's certain... it is NOT a worthy successor to back to times of splendor, as that masterpiece was DENSE as fuck with not one boring moment to be found. liberation is at least 50 % comprised of stuff that isn't even technically METAL! one can also call it FILLER. too many notes. maybe I can still accept this, but as I said, it's certainly not what they advertised it as. not that I expected them to achieve something close to one of my top 10 albums of all time, but fuck, they didn't even TRY TO. I feel cheated and I bet so do many of the morons that donated money on patronize. also, I didn't study the lyrics closely yet, but the album certainly doesn't seem to follow the concept of BTTOS, which is intensely disappointing as it's very dear to my heart (it's not a top 10 just for the music alone).PS: good parts on it sound like a copy of BTTOS obv, making me wonder just what they wanted to accomplish here.
