Great tutorial! At 13:06 - 13:17 you're explaining about the mid and low, but where to connect the high frequency sounds? Does it stay like that or did I miss something?

now that you mention it... i don't think I used that in this one. But it works very well on harmonic gain imo. play around with it. :)

Super cool tutorial, wonder if its possible to track a threshold-ed video and have the previous places of motion be the disintegrated part. Imma play around with it, but any ideas off the bat?
@supermarketsallad
@supermarketsallad Жыл бұрын
Yeah, just multiply that threshold-ed video with the disintegration noise. Maybe add some blur and a feedback. If you multiply, all the values that are zero(black or transparent) will be masked. And all of the white areas will be affected.

Excited to do this tutorial but for some reason it's only offered in 360p so its super blurry, I'll have to plug in an old monitor with limited resolution to be able to clearly see everything.

Beautiful work! I haven’t quite wrapped my head around the possibilities and workflow yet, and I don’t even own the software, but I’m in the planning stages for visuals for my ambient drone project. I have two questions for you. What GPU are you using and how hard is it working when running this project while it’s reacting to audio? I’m trying to strike a good value here because GPUs are expensive. I looked at the audio documentation and I’m trying to wrap my head around the audio reactive possibilities within TD. Are there any ways to identify sonic timbre/texture using TD? I see that it has a compressor so I’m guessing there’s a way to identify and respond to transients? What I have in mind is a more of a somewhat original slow, evolving, visual display that reflects the qualities of the music I’m creating with little or no input from me during my performance. I have the projector, projection screen, and rigging figured out, but I’m having trouble finding a solution that does what I have in mind. Any help is appreciated. 💁

It’s a little bit to much to answer in a yt comment, but: I’m rocking a geoforce 4060ti. I’m oversimplifying here: but audio, and audio processing and analysis happens on the cpu. The gpu can help you increase the resolution and have more TOPs going. You don’t need to max out, but you need something decent. Look elekktronaut and acrylicode have some great tutorials on audio reactivity. I think your question about timbre to be really interesting. I don’t know is my answer. Play around with it. There’s an audio spectrum that technically analyses timbre. But I also think this is where a lot of your artistry comes in. I think it’s an interesting artistic area to explore and express timbral qualities as visual textures, so maybe don’t worry too much about automating that. It could be the fun/interesting part. But it’s also a great area to explore how to make timbre-reactive visuals. Another thought is that the visuals and sound don’t always have to match 1 to 1, a lot of beauty can emerge from the tension and difference between the sound and visuals. So yeah, I don’t know.. but it was a fun question.

@@supermarketsallad thank you for taking the time to respond! This gives me more to think about. I watched the almost 4 hour video on the Luminosity interface for TD and thought maybe that would help, but since I’m not currently planning to use video clips, it seems like something made from scratch might be a more direct solution to what I’m imagining. I’ll look into spectrum analyzer more in depth. I would absolutely watch a video about expressing timbre in TD if you decided to explore the topic. 🙊

@@supermarketsallad I found an audioAnalysis output parameter called Spectralcentroid that should go a long way towards texture visualization. I think this is going to be my first area of study in TD.

Just use an ”audio device in” chop instead of an “audio file in” and set it to your microphone :)

Really cool stuff, thanks. If you had time to answer an unrelated question that'd be sick. I'm trying to figure out how to recreate the 2001 Space Odyssey stargate slit camera scene. I would imagine it's a camera directed towards 2 intersecting planes with noise and stuff, but I'm still pretty new and don't understand the difference in the tabs(top, chop, etc) and I'm wondering how you'd do it. Can't find anything on youtube about it in TD. I think it'd be a cool video too if it interested you enough.

Sorry I responded to the wrong comment before. I haven’t really thought about it but here’s a tutorial that creates a similar movement using a lens distort in a feedback loop. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2aUYYt6pM2fl6csi=Z1YCGU9KPoNNw4P5 Here’s a way to understand the tabs. Chops are CHannel OPerators. They deal with numbers in channels and also things like audio. But they only represent things as a line. TOPs are Texture OPerators. they deal with pixels. So everything is represented as a 2d texture. And since they are calculated on the gpu, they are super fast. SOPs are surface operators. They deal with 3d shapes. DATs deal with data and I’m scarred of them but committed to learning them eventually. MATs are materials for 3d surfaces. They all interact in different ways. This is a bit simplified but something to get you started.
