+gp5 I think it is a reflection of the western world in general. I lived in shit up places in the UK ex mining towns and old docks and some of the art reflects that. Other bits of the show seem to reflect the more self absorbed wanna middle class mortgaged up to their eye balls but believing they are better than the man down the street. I would say this is the way it is across Europe anyway having lived in a few European nations. I have seen this attitude far and wide. We live in a broken social structure which is now being torn part and sold. Everyone is greedy and doesn't really know what the goal or the race is but will fuck anyone else over to get there. Yeah things are bad but Banksy at least made me smile while I watched this new economic train wreck happen.

Just yesterday a guy hung himself from one of those tall power poles and killed himself. Another died because he was too impatient to wait for a big rig. Life is too fucking short to be fucking miserable and dwell on boo hooness and to go - look at this sadness here and look at this sadness there. We should aim to fix the sadness and also aim to be happy at the same time. Let the kids, be kids. Let the stupid soccer moms be soccer moms, they could be dead as soon as they walk out the door anyways.

@markhorton85789 жыл бұрын
The evening began with being corralled and penned into a maze of fencing where we waited until everyone was thoroughly soaked by a sudden torrential rain and windstorm which arrived just after we were supposed to be allowed in. As soon as that was completed we were allowed in. Inside we encountered a service level of indifference and rudeness which could only rarely be found outside the 1970’s. The long queues to every installation added to the atmosphere. We thoroughly endured our evening and can recommend it to anyone who is tired of evenings full of the same old smiling and laughter. We shall return in a few weeks, next time I shall take the children to build up their endurance.
@markhorton85789 жыл бұрын
+Mark Horton We returned for our second trip. The weather was much better and it was far less crowded, which made it all less dismal, however the staff made a determined effort to stop people smiling. I had a couple of spare tickets because two of our group couldn't make it. I offered it to the front of the queue for buying at the gate. (There were no tickets being sold, they had all sold out.) The first dozen or so turned them down for £5 each, obviously in the Dismal groove. Eventually a very nice bright guy bought them, and some drinks when we got in. Thanks :-) It was good we managed to see many things we knew we had missed, the first time around.

Ugh! I sooo want to go to this but you make it so hard, Banksy! Not enough time. 1 month? I am in LA and can't get out there anytime soon. My loss!

Is this what's getting Banksy all this hate lately? I just don't see this as a reason to hate Banksy.

***** Right... tickets cost £3... I'm pretty sure the money they make from this is to cover the cost of running the place. Doesn't compromise the anticapitalist statement in the slightest for me...

gosh people still think Banksy is thought provoking, he's just a one trick pony. Such a shame, he clearly is talented but he has the art style of a 15 year old GCSE art student, very monotonous and pretentious.

+marleymation ltd There's something like 50 other artists exhibiting there. It was just Banksy's idea but loads of artists have contributed. I kinda see your point but I do recommend this if you can get there. It's actually pretty funny.
