Are people completely missing the point that this is a giant art installation? Do they not know who Banksy is? I'm extremely jealous I'm not in the UK and able to go because this is important for art, and I'm sure one day it'll be in art history textbooks.

I love the meaning behind each piece how it portrays the crap that is happening in our world, countries, society's now. The art captivates that. And I love how they use Disneyland "the happiest place in the world" to show what is really happening. Wish I could go.

+gp5 I think it is a reflection of the western world in general. I lived in shit up places in the UK ex mining towns and old docks and some of the art reflects that. Other bits of the show seem to reflect the more self absorbed wanna middle class mortgaged up to their eye balls but believing they are better than the man down the street. I would say this is the way it is across Europe anyway having lived in a few European nations. I have seen this attitude far and wide. We live in a broken social structure which is now being torn part and sold. Everyone is greedy and doesn't really know what the goal or the race is but will fuck anyone else over to get there. Yeah things are bad but Banksy at least made me smile while I watched this new economic train wreck happen.

Precisely. Plus, as Spoken said, it's just parody. If people were sued just for parody, then pretty much every company in the world would be dishing out lawsuits like party invitations, and Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer would be considered enemies of the state. (Which they should be, anyway.)

+DruMeister No duh life is unfair. I don't need some artist to tell me that. But why can't people enjoy life while they are here? People are being killed every day. People are dying of cancer. Just yesterday a guy hung himself from one of those tall power poles and killed himself. Another died because he was too impatient to wait for a big rig. Life is too fucking short to be fucking miserable and dwell on boo hooness and to go - look at this sadness here and look at this sadness there. We should aim to fix the sadness and also aim to be happy at the same time. Let the kids, be kids. Let the stupid soccer moms be soccer moms, they could be dead as soon as they walk out the door anyways.

The evening began with being corralled and penned into a maze of fencing where we waited until everyone was thoroughly soaked by a sudden torrential rain and windstorm which arrived just after we were supposed to be allowed in. As soon as that was completed we were allowed in. Inside we encountered a service level of indifference and rudeness which could only rarely be found outside the 1970’s. The long queues to every installation added to the atmosphere. We thoroughly endured our evening and can recommend it to anyone who is tired of evenings full of the same old smiling and laughter. We shall return in a few weeks, next time I shall take the children to build up their endurance.
@markhorton8578

+Mark Horton We returned for our second trip. The weather was much better and it was far less crowded, which made it all less dismal, however the staff made a determined effort to stop people smiling. I had a couple of spare tickets because two of our group couldn't make it. I offered it to the front of the queue for buying at the gate. (There were no tickets being sold, they had all sold out.) The first dozen or so turned them down for £5 each, obviously in the Dismal groove. Eventually a very nice bright guy bought them, and some drinks when we got in. Thanks :-) It was good we managed to see many things we knew we had missed, the first time around.

So many unanswered questions about the reasons behind the making of this place, certain art pieces within it, (I find the lady on the bench engulfed by birds fascinating, but I don’t fully understand the meaning of it.) and how dismaland was perceived the first time it came out. If there’s anyone who can explain I would love to hear your input.

Dismal-land restates the Negativeness of the Universe. The hideous lonely emptiness of Existence, The Nothingness. The predicament of mankind to live in a barren, eternity like a tiny flame flickering in an immense void with nothing but waste , horror and degradation, forming a useless exit line through the gift shop

Hollow*Victory Is this the world my grandfather gave his life to create. Is this the world my father left his family to make. Is this the world my brother hoped for me to create. Is this the world my sisters babies were sacrificed to make. Is this the world our loved ones died to create. Is this the world that honors all the victims of violence and hate. Is this the world we the living desire to create. Is this the world responsible for the hollow victories, if we do not rise above the cycles of fear they make. Is this the world we leave the children, filled with weapons, policies, morals and profits of conflict, destruction and waste. Is this the world in which the lack of peace cuts my heart like a wooden stake. Is this the world in which the love of peace can open each and every gate. Is this the world where all our dreams are fulfilled once we wake. Is this the world where we finally learn from the mistakes. Is this the world our mothers prayed to create. Is this the world, if so i*hope its not to late, to admit we were wrong to hate. Time4Change... Watch4The*Sign... C.H.A.O.S.
