Wow. What an achievement. When you own virtually everything on tv and at the theaters it's hard to believe that it's even possible. Congratulations to Iger, Kennedy, Headland, etc. for all their hard work and sacrifice. Dreams really can come true.

It was such an unfortunate coincidence that the pandemic and writers strike happened in the same decade, with how damaging they were to the movie industry those were events that should’ve happened like 10 years apart, and so the mere fact that they happened in the same pocket of time was catastrophic

So if they made 5 billion, how did they spend this year?
@tomas.lambert19 күн бұрын
It’s not really a relevant question honestly. Disney makes over 90 billion in revenues so those 5 billions don’t mean much to them (especially since they don’t take 100% of those 5 billion). And they also have expenses of about 85 billion so they clearly know where to spend their money.
@WhoFramedGod19 күн бұрын
@tomas.lambert Maybe I should clarify my question. The topic was about the movie studio part. Not on Disney as a corporation with all of their other properties. The question then is if they made 5 billion (I assumed that's movie studio money), how did they spend on the movie studio budget? Why I'm asking is that, I hear a lot of numbers get thrown around on how much a movie cost, marketing, actors salary, etc on various movies throughout this year. I wonder if they spend like 10 billion on cost but overall made 15 billion in total. So the profit is 5 billion. That's just a made up example to use.
@tomas.lambert19 күн бұрын
@@WhoFramedGod It’s hard to say as Disney includes expenses within operating income/losses. But even if they explicitly broke down each cost (which they probably do somewhere, I just haven’t found it), those would be linked mainly to future projects. But basically in the last 12 months they made about 8 billions from content sale/licensing (which is mostly money from movie theatres).

Even with their reputation for quality circling the drain, Disney owns so much property it can produce enough content that all it takes is a couple hits to compensate their for astonishing mediocrity. Not hating on them, I love movies and want their to do well but sheesh Disney put your back into it.
