@vinemon actually she has every right to be in the video. She wasnt happy being a mermaid as much as some people aren't happy with their gender, so they change it. Being "born this way" doesn't always constitute as your physical appearance, but what's inside, and how you think. Ariel was just desperate, and like any typical 16 year old, she made a mistake trusting the wrong person. She was only truly happy when her father gave her legs at the end, because he wanted her to be happy no matter what

To live among the humans and see their world" Which she sang before ever seeing him. Sure Eric was a big part of her decision, but he wasn't the only one. He was just a huge perk really. What about transgendered people? Is it wrong that they get surgery to become the sex they associate with? You could really say it's the same for Ariel, she doesn't feel right in the body she was born in. It's not that she doesn't feel beautiful, which is the case for people who get most plastic surgeries, but she isn't happy as a mermaid. Which means it's less like somebody getting a boob job and somebody transgendered becoming the sex they identify with.

To state first, I have nothing against transgender people, they are awesooome. And Its not the same, she sold her voice just to get with a guy, she may have been curious of the human world but she doesnt have any interest of becoming a human. I may be curious of how a womans body works, but that doesnt mean i want to be a woman. And its not because she believed she was a human, or shoulve been born a human, its because of a guy. reason was that. It was always that, but then more reasons came along, and she went for it when somebody offered her all she had been dreaming for. I could see it like her going to a back alley doctor for a gender reassignment surgery because her father won't pay for it. (He could turn her into a human all along, he did it at the end.) It was dangerous, and maybe a little stupid.. But her situation is not like plastic surgery, unless you think of it like gender reassignment surgery. Which I do.
