Make the main part of Dinoland a modern Dinosaur Zoo (that doesn’t go wrong), have a boat ride with life-sized animatronics that has a living with the land vibe where you learn about the various dinosaurs and other creatures from the past. this is what i always thought was missing from dinoland; a good zoo attraction that focuses on the animals theselves. like maybe an additional wing of the institute, with "enclosures" for different dinosaurs and other creatures. a boat ride maybe, but it's already so similar to JP river adventure and the jungle cruise, so maybe a walking trail with research theming similar to the one in the africa section. it could be pens in the "modern day" with captured dinosaurs like the iguanodon from the ride, or even another time-travel thing where it's a field station somewhere in the mesozoic

I like the ride concept and keeping Dinoland. I'm fascinated to know what has happened with Disney upper brass? Is it Bob Iger? Is it Josh D'Amaro? Is it the fight with DeSantis? That was the worst D23 I've ever seen and it seems like many of the "announcements" weren't even blue sky but hints of blue sky. They never actually said Indian Jones the band just played the theme song as a goof? Last year was bad, they had a full year to come out and say something has been green lit. Considering it takes Disney 5-6 years to get any construction project finished, its likely going to be at least a decade before anything exciting happens at WDW. It's depressing.

This is an awesome idea, it feels very Eisner era with the story of dinoland. The only issue I have is that having 2 rides in the same land where you go back in time might be a bit redundant. I would instead have the coaster's story focus on accidently bringing a dinosaur to the present and having it wreak havoc in the digsite. I also think it would be interesting to theme the facade to Badlands National Park in South Dakota. It looks different enough from Monument Valley and Everest to still be unique, and it ties in with the digsite theme, as the Badlands are a famous digsite in the real world.

First let me start off by saying, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! It's very reassuring that I'm not the only one who believes that Disney doesn't need to consider replacing Dinoland USA with South America in order to "improve" Disney's Animal Kingdom. There's even a free area of land located in between Asia & Rafiki's Planet Watch that would be a more suitable area for construction a section of the park based on Central/South America?!?! I really enjoyed your video! I agree with you that the aesthetics of the Dino-Rama subsection of Dinoland USA don't really fit with the aesthetics of the other parts of the land & can be remedied with a new attraction(s). Your idea of resurrecting the scrapped "Excavator" Roller Coaster concept was interesting. I'd like to share with you a few of ideas of mine on how I'd possibly improve Dinoland USA: 1) Replacing the Dino-Rama Area with an Attraction(s) based on the Ice Age Franchise - I understand that this is going into IP territory. The Mesozoic Era/Age of Reptiles was only one part of Earth's Ancient Past & with the Paleozoic Era not having much notoriety, why not also focus of the Cenozoic Era/Age of Mammals. This can be achieved through Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Blue Sky Studios & the Ice Age Franchise. It even fits with DAK's theme of conservation; many of the creatures of the cenozoic became extinct due to climate change, habitat loss, human interaction, etc. (factors that are even affecting animals in the present). As for the attraction itself; I was thinking of a Water/Log Flume (think Splash Mountain) Ride based primarily on the first three films (maybe with some references to the last three?) & it would feature audio animatronics of the characters/creatures that were also featured in the film (ranging from Ice Age Creatures to Dinosaurs). Given that Disney's Animal Kingdom is also located in Orlando, Florida (which is extremely hot & humid during the summers); the park could really benefit from another water-based attraction (the only other one I could think of is Kali River Rapids in Asia). I was also thinking about re-theming the "Triceratops Spin" to the Ice Age Franchise as well. It would still be a Dumbo-esque type of ride but instead of just Triceratops Carts (which would be redesigned to resemble the ones in Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs); the ride would also feature Carts based on other creatures (i.e. Moeritherium, Doedicurus, etc.). Or maybe the attraction could be replaced with a Double-Decker (Prehistoric/Extinct-Themed) Carousel with "Horses" that are Prehistoric/Extinct Animals? If neither of these attractions are ideal, then that just leaves more construction space for the Water/Log-Flume Ride. 2) Interactive Dinosaur Encounters - Dinoland USA could really benefit if guests had an up-close/interactive experience with dinosaurs. One of Disney's earlier attempts was with Lucky the Dinosaur; a Segnosaurus that would walk around Dinoland & interact with guess. I'd like to bring back Lucky, maybe with an more up-to-date appearance with feathers, to interact with guest. However, Lucky wouldn't be the only dinosaur that guests would get to interact with. For Larger Dinosaurs, I looked at Walking with Dinosaurs: The Live Experience/Arena Spectacular & the Jurassic World: Live Tour. Both shows utilize a vehicle system to bring their larger creatures to life. I'd like to utilize the same system to make Aladar the Iguanodon (from Dinosaur) an interactive character. I also had the idea for a remote controlled, life-size Pterosaur Ornithopter (Pteranodon? Quetzalcoatlus?) based on the one made by Paul MacCready in the 1980's. The pterosaur would fly over Dinoland for guests to see. So far, these are the only creatures I had in mind for guest interactions but other creatures (from Fantasia, Dinosaur, Ice Age, The Good Dinosaur, etc.) might also be considered? 3) New Shows for the Theater in the Wild - While I do like "Finding Nemo: The Musical", the show doesn't really fit the with Prehistoric/Extinct-aesthetics of Dinoland USA. A few new shows/musicals (obviously in rotation) that I had in mind are based on the following films: -The Rite of Spring from Disney's Fantasia -Disney's Dinosaur -Ice Age -The Good Dinosaur Much like "Finding Nemo: The Musical," the dinosaurs & other extinct creatures would be brought to life through puppets/actors in costume (some would actually feature human actors). A Rite of Spring show could be executed just through the acting of the puppets & the orchestral music (much like the original segment). These shows/musical might also include material that got cut from the original films (i.e. The Ice Age segment from The Rite of Spring). Of these options, I feel like a Good Dinosaur Musical would be best options. This newer/musical version of The Good Dinosaur would obviously feature songs & possibly creatures that got cut from the film (i.e. Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Dimetrodon, Archaeopteryx, Brachiosaurus, Deinosuchus, etc.). Side Note: Since the Theater in the Wild is located near the Dinoland entrance to Asia, if they went with The Good Dinosaur Musical, Expedition Everest (at least from Dinoland's perspective) could be seen as Clawtooth Mountain? 4) Changing the Cretaceous Trail - Currently, the Cretaceous Trail is an area of land located between Dino-Rama & Dinosaur. It features various plant life from the mesozoic (cycads, ferns, etc.) & dinosaur sculptures (Ornithomimus, Corythosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Dromaeosaurus & Albertosaurus). My idea is to turn the area into a series of enclosures that feature animals that are considered "living fossils." Dinoland already has a few enclosures that feature the American Crocodile, Abdim's Stork & Asian Brown Tortoise. However, this new Cretaceous Trail would feature even more animals (depending on their availability) such as: -Invertabrates (Horseshoe Crab, Chambered Nautilus, South American Giant Cockroach, Millipedes, Giant Centipedes, etc.) -Fish (Lungfish, Gar, Sturgeon, Paddlefish, Hagfish, Lamprey, etc.) -Amphibians (Siren, Amphiuma, Caecilian, Axolotl, Mudpuppy, Hellbender, Giant Salamander, etc.) -Reptiles (Tuatara, Monitor Lizards, Turtles, Tortoises, Legless Lizards, Snakes, Tomistomas, Gharials, Alligators, Caiman, etc.) -Birds (Magpie Goose, Screamer, Tinamou, Seriema, Rhea, Emu, Cassowary etc.) -Mammals (Tree Shrew, Elephant Shrew, Oppossum, Lemur, etc.) This new Cretaceous Trail would still include the Mesozoic plant life & the Dinosaur sculptures (I'd love to bring back/relocate the original Styracosaurus statue that was located outside of Dinosaur to this new Cretaceous Trail)

The theme of the park is ANIMAL Kingdom, so why not lean into that even if it's animals that are supposed to be extinct? Do a whole What If thing where the dinosaurs never went extinct. @paleozoey
@paleozoey Жыл бұрын
instead of a carnotaurus i'd use something else like an allosaurus; it's native to the american west (which the area is themed on; carnotaurus is argentinian), and is still recognizeable animal while also being distinct in both appearance and time period. other animals in the jungle section could be well-known and obscure jurassic dinosaurs: stegosaurus, brontosaurus, brachiosaurus, and maybe some smaller ankylosaurs and ornithopods from that time and place. personally i always wanted a slow ride or walking trail where one could encounter dinosaurs and other animals. maybe a "cretaceous field station" as part of the dino institute. orlando is already in the perfect hardiness spot for having the right mix of plants- too far north and there's no tropical palms and cycads, too far south and its too hot for the sycamores and magnolias that dominated the swamps of those times. using a good mix of prehistoric plants and low rock-work, plus some field equipment and notes and stuff like on the african trails, mixed with the established theming, could prove to be a really good immersive and educational exhibit- and allow for more interactivity and thrills that you can't get with real animals. animal kingdom's advantage over universal is that its dinosaurs aren't strictly tied to any one IP and location holding them back. to stand out, they could emphasize that their dinosaurs are "real" and accurate, as opposed to the "theme park monsters" stuck in the 1990s with jurassic park. but that'd be too good of an idea.

Not a bad idea, but with Everest just steps away, this seems like a similar enough attraction that the experience is just a copy of what is, IMO, a stronger overall concept. I don't hate the idea of an indiana jones ride overlay replacing CTX but they could make it fit with a dinosaur theme and a time travel artifact in a south american temple, if that IS the direction they are heading with the area. As long as the area is kept region specific like the rest of the park, any IPs they use to tell more general stories I don't have a problem with. The theme of AK (animals of the past, present and imagined) is still hanging on while there's a lot of exotic and mysterious stories to tell in that region of the world. I still have hope that Australia comes through someday but I doubt it with current leadership, terrified of anything even remotely new or risky.

I don't agree at all. I don't think IP should ever have to be justified as fitting into an area, because if that's the case, then it never made sense to begin with. @@PoseidonEntertainment Pandora was "justified" by saying the values aligned with the park. Did it make sense? Not really, but it fit with conservation and imaginary animals. I'm sure that dinosaurs will stay in some form or another with an Indiana Jones reskin since they're just too profitable a concept and many archeological and fossil dig-sites are in that area of the world. Encanto could build a dark ride around Antonio showcasing and speaking to local animals, coco I guess could be a show based around mythical land of the dead animals. Disney is just unfortunately creatively bankrupt now and we can't change the new business model of the parks being IP showcases to sell merchandise and other services. If IP is what it takes to get Disney leadership to put a south/meso-america section into AK then I'm not going to complain too much.

I love this pitch and I think a classic family wooden/steel coaster would be a smash success in a Florida theme park. There are a few in Orlando at the Fun Spot centers, but none in any major parks. However, I do have to admit I was very excited about a potential new continent with animals from that region if Disney decides to go forward with Central/Tropical America, at least much more excited than a Moana & Zootopia mashed together quisi-lands. Disney's main problem right now is that they're pumping IP into everything, and with time IP becomes irrelevant and out-dated. Think about all of the classic attractions that are the most revered: Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, it's a small world, Thunder Mountain... none of these include any recognizable IP and those are the attractions that bring people into the parks. I've heard no one ever say that they were going to the Magic Kingdom to ride the Little Mermaid dark ride - of course they do it - but that's not why they went. Sorry for the rant!

I don't think an animatronic dinosaur zoo can really work as anything other than a ride. Conceptually, I think people like the idea of a walk-through, but if Island's Triceratops Encounter is any indication, it's not something that people really do more than once. I do think that reviving the river idea would work well though. I don't think that Universe of Energy was torn down because people lost interest, so much as Disney just never bothered to update it. I really feel your appreciation for Dinoland! I also think that Dinosaur can be an excellent ride if it is maintained well! Indiana Jones has an amazing queue, loading station, set design and final scene, but theres no great animatronics and at some point it seems like you're going through a parking garage. And Dinosaur has arguiably one of the most iconic pre-shows! I think the existing roadside-theme is excellent and a nice contrast to the tropical themes throughout the park. However, I did not like your proposed attraction. It seems to me as a mix of Everest and Dinosaur and not something that the park really needs. I like the idea of another rollercoaster tho, I just wish they would go for something entirely different. Disney has a long history of working with vekoma. And they have a really exiting new model that they opened at a themepark called Phantasialand in Germany. Their highly themed ride which consists of a small darkride section, seperate load and unload stations and a long ride with two launches would fit almost twice on the available land. Their ride has inversions, this one would'nt have to. It's a flying coaster with relatively mild launches (def less forceful than Rock n Rollercoaster) and could be a themed to a Pteranodon. I could see this as being relatively family friendly, but maybe a bit more thrilling as Everest because of the seating position. Vekoma's new loading mechanism for flying coasters is far superior of the one that is being used on Manta at Sea World, so the Capacity would match Disneys needs as well.

If this were to be a thing, I could see it actually being the replacement for Dinosaur. The ride you've pitched has too many similar elements to the story of Dinosaur, but I do like it. What you've pitched sounds like what could be Dinsey's answer to Universal's Revenge of the Mummy and Island of Adventure's Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. There's a story to it, some changes in track dynamics, there's stuff that happens in the dark, like, it would be Disney's version of both those rides. However, although Dinosaur is a fun ride, it's also been there for over 20 years, and with a bit too many overlapping similarities with the story, I can't see both rides existing at the same time. If you were to go back to back, even though the ride mechanics are different, it kind of feels redundant. Go back to get this thing in time all the while you're being chased by Carnotaurs. The theme of the area is dinosaurs, that kind of feels like the extent of where similarities should begin and end among the rides. Now perhaps you could have it be some sort of Journey to the Center of the Earth or Hollow Earth Theory type situation where part of the mineshaft collapses and you find yourself in an untamed world, maybe the scientists and interns don't believe what you've seen despite having time travel technology, I don't know, but something needs to change. What if it's just a general tour of the dig site to help drum up money to keep it going, and then you have a cave-in that redirects everyone and we discover something even better than just bones? You did mention that you wanted something more tame to Everest and Dinosaur despite your ride sounding more or less on par with them in terms of intensity. Perhaps you go more Jurassic Park River Adventure with it, but then hit everyone with some more intense roller coaster moments than just one drop. You can have it be designed a bit more like it's in a bowl to hide this secret world from the rest of the park. The tour starts off indoors, and if there's some way to do it, disguise the whole indoor section as the lift hill, and then when you actually get to the part where the cave in happens, riders are surprised to see that they drop on outside where there are dinosaurs in a hollow part of the Earth. A few ups and downs and banks, a few jumpscares from carnivores, everyone's trapped, but then your guide notices that the cave-in opened up a new hole to the original caverns you were in before and that's how you can get back home (narrowly escaping one last chomp from a big carnivore of course). It's almost kind of a reverse Everest where all the fun stuff actually takes place outside. With a few well covered animatronics among more static dinosaurs out in the open, and with proper landscaping and painting on some walls, you could make the area of this "underground world" look bigger than it actually is and survive the Florida weather.

Interesting idea, but it banks on a faulty supposition, that "these plans are not going to happen". Oh, one of them is going to happen, and it's going to happen soon. Why? 1) Animal Kingdom is next. It's now not only the worst-performing park at WDW, but it's #6 in Orlando and it's going to be #7 after Epic Universe opens if they don't do something. 2) This is now the THIRD plan for Dinoland, though the first plan also involved an Indy retheme. In the past decade we have not heard of something being built between Asia and Africa, or anything along that boring train route. It's been all about Dinoland. Every. Single. Time. Why? 3) Because that's how Bob Iger operates. He's not interested in building new lands unless the park is hemorrhaging guests. Cars Land and Pandora were aberrations that had money thrown at them only because Disney couldn't afford to annoy the people connected to them: John Lasseter and James Cameron, and these two parks were desperate. Otherwise, "new" lands just replace old lands. See Pixar Pier, Galaxy's Edge (Florida edition), Toy Story Land, San Fransokyo, Cosmic Rewind, Avengers Campus, other Avengers Campus. If they have nothing to retheme, then they just go cheap, like Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland or one-ride Arendelle in Paris. (Need further proof? Hong Kong Disneyland is 52% owned by the government; it's getting two rides and one is not a clone!) Dinoland is in play because all three ideas involve retheming rides. The last two both include TriceraTop Spin rethemes. 4) IPs. Iger is simply not going to build anything that isn't an IP. They couldn't even build a water play area without playing Moana all over it. That's why Dinosaur has gone back and forth between Indy and Zootopia. Yes, Indy is old and performed poorly this year, but the Indians Jones Adventure rides are evergreen at this point. And Indy will sell merch, at least moreso than Dinosaur. Encanto, on the other hand, THAT will get people into the park. THAT can go on billboards and commercials. It'll be "We Don't Talk About Bruno" for two years straight! 5) Speaking of Bruno-no-no-no, they need to make Lin-Manuel Miranda happy. He has threatened - publicly - to take his talents elsewhere if he doesn't see some Encanto happening in the parks. That's why it's popped up in TWO different concept art pieces. Miranda has done more for the studio than any other creative lately and they can't afford to lose him. (Another reason Moana got made while Mary Poppins did not.) 6) But, also they need characters of color in the parks. Almost every rumor we've been hearing lately involves a brown character: more Moana, Encanto, Coco, Black Panther. Disney is getting trashed over the coals for how lily white the parks are. Tiana is not enough to make this go away. They need diversity in EVERY park. 7) I think we've gone back to the original Indy idea because the original plan was to create a South America plan. So that "tropical Americas" line is important. There are no tall pyramids in South America, but there are in Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras and Southern Mexico - aka "tropical North America". This tells me they did their research since the last rumor. They did A LOT of research as they painted the Indy temple red, which is what the Mayans did. This has moved beyond Blue Sky stage. 8) I think there are going to be animals. That was the biggest complaint about Moana. No animals. South America was originally chosen because people want to continue the continental theme. The concept art for the Encanto version has all kinds of pathways hidden amongst a large number of trees. I think we're getting animals! 9) They've been trying to find a way to clone Mystic Manor since that thing opened. Casa Madrigal is a MAGICAL MANOR. Not only will that theme allow them the easiest transformation, but they're also looking at being able to clone it, if it's done right. Could it be done cheaply? Of course it could. But I still think it's going to get did.

I do not trust Disney to do things well. However, I've been saying since Encanto came out that they should make South America. They've already got UP in the park (Paradise Falls is in South America) and Encanto is very popular (I know box office numbers were shaky but as a teacher, I saw the way kids loved it). Making it tropical Americas is smart because it gives them wiggle room on what they can make. I just hope they do it well.

While it makes sense for the story, I think a drop track is more intense than what I had in mind for this coaster (somewhere around a Space Mountain level). It’s one of many MANY aspects for our Fictional Realm Walt Disney World idea, which is basically Walt Disney World, but MINUS the limited space for each park and especially minus the budget cuts that have affected many attractions, especially in the late 90s and early 2000s. In our re-envisioned Animal Kingdom, Dinoland USA will be recreated as “Forgotten Times,” meaning it will represent not only dinosaurs (the only dinosaur-related stuff being Dinosaur and the fossil playground) but it will also represent all sorts of extinct species and animals from other lost eras such as the Ice Age, Stone Age, you name it.

As long as the entire Disney company stays intact and they don’t break up the parks and media branches, IP’s seem to be a prerequisite for any parks expansion/overhaul budgets. They don’t trust WDI to do anything original on a large scale and find it to be too risky. What executives constantly underestimate is the amount of Disney parks fans that don’t care for modern IPs and want to see original concepts. This part of the reason why they use events that used to promote new parks expansions as focus groups to bounce ideas off of. Taking the customers for granted will backfire in the next decade as Universal surpasses them

Back when universe of energy closed, I was desperately hoping that the animatronics would be recycled in Dinoland to create a more family friendly dinosaur attraction for those who don’t want to be in dark places with scary dinosaurs over on dinosaur. I had no idea something like that was in the original plan for the land! And I like your concept, a time traveling rollercoaster sounds really cool and you could definitely accomplish some cool portal effects using tech similar to escape from gringotts like when the dragon seems to take you through the screen. But I do think the idea of being perused by a carnotaurus and some of the story beats too similar to dinosaur next door. I think you could tweak this to maybe show case the dangers of herbivores since they can be a threat too. Maybe getting caught up in a stampede of triceratopses or stegosauruses could be fun. But of course this doesn’t need tweaks anyway because Disney would probably never do something this interesting or not IP driven :(

Given more time, I probably would have developed the whole ride for the video but I have a busy month. It might be worth completing the theming in the track and uploading it though.

If Dinosaur looked as good as it does in your video around the 5:45 - 6:30 mark, I don't think they'd need to replace it. The lighting looks incredible. We rode it earlier this summer and it was mostly dark, with an occasional flashing light on a broken animatronic.

LMG Vids does a lot of color correction in his videos, so dark rides look very clear and easy to see. Yeah, it's definitely darker than that, but I actually think the darkness works as an element because it's disorienting and hides how small the building is.

I get that Dinoland can feel kinda cheap in comparison to other lands, but I have always really loved that section of the park. Some of my very earliest Disney memories are of eating at the Donald Duck sit-down breakfast in Dino land during our first few trips to the parks with my parents and siblings (along with my aunt, uncle, and cousins who are all similarly aged to my siblings and I). Those early memories of Dinoland and experiencing that magic as a kid remain some of my most fond memories ever at WDW. I find the little shops there to be some of the most well-themed at all of WDW in terms of details and making it feel like a real-life place with all of props and visual gags they have incorporated. Tons of fun little details to discover, so I always make sure to stop and take a look around at all the small things that they have incorporated into that land that so many people won't even consider because they believe Dinoland to be inherently lesser than other lands. Idk, I am almost certainly in the minority with this take, bit I have truly always loved the vibe of Dinoland. There is obvious room for improvement, but surely I'm not the only one who actually enjoyed Chester and Hester's Dino-rama and Primeval Whirl, right? It does feel a bit out of place, but that isn't because of poor theming. Like I said, there are plenty of details in the theming that get overlooked there, but when you stop to take it in and consider all of the little details, it actually is just as heavily themed as the rest of the park. It actually does feel like a real roadside carnival at times, which is exactly what the theming aims to do there. The argument really just comes down to whether or not that sort of "roadside attraction" type of land belongs in AK, which is a point that I can understand both sides of the argument. It will definitely be interesting to see where they actually end up taking the land, but I would be a liar if I said I won't miss Dinoland, warts and all.

For being a cheap addition, Dino-rama really justifies its existence with its story and theming in how it's incorporated into the overall land. Also, I'm also a fan of a good wild mouse coaster, so I never hated it like everyone else pretended to do. I get why it people don't understand it, but I also think that its time is long past and something more exciting should take its place.

@@PoseidonEntertainment oh yeah, a good wild mouse is good, clean fun. We always loved that one. To this very day my siblings and I will STILL say “Please stand before exiting. Bye Bye!” to each other in that southern voice at the end of Primeval Whirl every once in a while lmao. We have always loved that one. I don’t really get why they demolished it when they did without having anything planned to take it’s place considering that little lot has been needlessly sitting empty for a few years now. Actually, I think I remember reading something about them no longer being able to find replacement parts for the ride vehicles so I guess that’s why they tore it down early. Tis a shame. People can hate on wild mouse coasters all they want but I guarantee they have a good time on the ride. Obviously it’s not a great original attraction, but the theme and spinning cars always made it a fun little aside during a day at AK, imo.

@@STSGuitar16 Yeah, I also heard it had to do with maintenance. Granted its capacity wasn't great, but it did always seem to have a decently long line and I wouldn't consider it unpopular.

I always thought a mine train ride similar to Hong Kong Disneyland's Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars would fit nicely in Dinoland. It would be low to the ground so as not to conflict with Everest nearby, and the desert theme would fit right in with Dinoland (I like the thought of using Zion National Park as inspiration). The concept would be similar to yours in that interns from the Dino Institute have repurposed an old abandoned Amber mine into a fun roller coaster and they're inviting tourists to give it a whirl. Unbeknownst to them, there are some dinosaurs inside that were trapped in amber millions of years ago and some of the velociraptors have broken free! The ride would start out as a normal mine train, and then riders would come across the trapped dinosaurs. Next, they'd encounter a few velociraptors messing around with old mining equipment and other silly scenes, and then finally riders would get attacked by some of them as the ride nears its end. When you pull back into the station, instead of being concerned about the escaped dinosaurs, the interns are ecstatic and can't wait to tell their colleagues at the dino institute. I like your idea too, but it feels a little too similar to Dinosaur with the time travel stuff and the interns sending guests in to retrieve something for them. Either way, I think a dinosaur mine train attraction would do wonders for Dinoland and it's a shame that current Disney leadership doesn't seem to see the potential in this land.

I went to Animal Kingdom in 2018 for the first time, we walked by Dino-rama and thought it was stupid. So we completely skipped Dino Land. I feel like I missed out now.

I hooe Disney just keeps Dinoland USA and expand their park east of Asia. They have enough space and the parking lot is barely used. They have the money to build that.

I fed this through the Disney committee and here is what they said: 1. Replace the interns with members of a “Fossil Co-Op” 2. The coaster moves fast enough that we don’t want moving animatronics except for the main villain dinosaur. 3. The whole coaster and events take place in the mind of Andy playing with Rex and other toys while on a camping trip. This achieves brand synergy with Toy Story 5 and the advertising and theming will support this.

I don’t know, Dinoland U.S.A. just felt like it was doomed to fail from the start. I mean what we’re they thinking putting a tacky carnival-style area with cheap aesthetics in arguably one of the most beautifully-exotic themed parks in the world? I like Dinosaur a lot too but this change was inevitable unfortunately. I’d say I have faith Disney will make better changes following D23 but who the heck knows at this point 🤷🏼‍♂️

Chester and Hester's wasn't original though. That space used to be occupied by a small attraction that was essentially a tent with dinosaur bones.
