Bob Iger did this to Disney. His arrogance, right before the Fox buyout, was so grand that he could shove whatever he wanted down the throats of his customers. We quit being the "Disney family" in 2019. I was sure others would follow, it took a couple of years.

If they'd have had better, more engaging stories that wouldn't be an issue. TBH...the content put out of late has been poorly written and unfortunately contains messaging that at least 95% of the traditional family Disney audience is not in full agreement with, and are put off by. Disney audiences like traditional stories of the hero's journey, where good learns, grows, and overcomes bad. Just go back to that and they'll find great success once again.

How to improve Disney: 1) No more LGBT and gender politics (as well as politics overall) in kids' films/series. They're immediate box office bombs, and drive away the massive amount of parents who don't want other people to show that stuff before they discuss it when they see fit. If there's a backlash, increase donations to LGBT-based charities until it dies out. 2) Quality over quantity for Marvel and Star Wars properties. People are fatigued and need more time between projects to be hyped. 1-2 max per year with certain exceptions under their other studios (Ex: Deadpool under Fox). 3) Talk with the public to see how their theme parks can be improved. Actually justify price increases before implementing them.

Chapek closing Disney Stores all-over was a terrible idea as they also serve has communication-vehicles for new releases and the merchandise helps to generate hype, especially after the first week of release, keeping weekly-drops softer that we see today. This is especially true for Pixar and Disney Animation. It’s also possible, through the stores, to gauge the interest for a certain release in advance, and adjust pre-release marketing accordingly. Portugal is a tiny country, in global terms, but closing the Disney Store in Colombo Shopping Mall, one of the largest in Europe and where all tourists end-up was a major misstep. Lego Store was more than happy to take over the spot …

If and when she goes it will make zero difference. The problem is that Disney bought something they didn’t understand and certainly didn’t understand the fans. After ROTJ was released SW was basically dead until the Thrawn books started to appear. Who kept SW alive throughout this period? The hardcore fans….many of whom have long since walked away after being let down and then insulted by Disney for daring to raise their opinions. As and when KK does finally go the chances are the next person waiting in the wings will have exactly the same mindset. For me, Lucasfilm's destruction of the classic characters replaced with absolute meh, their involvement in politics and agenda that has COMPLETELY lost my trust, the Marvel dilution of product to the point I haven't watched anything in theatres in years, don't own Disney+, basically means me, and my kids via me, watch almost no Disney content by choice. Also, will never visit the parks, INSANE prices for a almost purely consumer experience. I thought I'd share my youthful enthusiasm for Star Wars with my kids, that's a no-go now, and I won't introduce them to any new content, so for our family, Disney is dead.

Disney+ content was not the problem for Marvel Studios. Two major problems are quantity overquality… scaling the output beyond the ability of Kevin Feige & co to stay as close to the ground as they did and the lack of narrative core. Phase 1-3 scaled it’s storytelling in a very organic way and easied it’s audience into auxilirary characters. Phase 4 just seems lost and all over the place with no narrative core for it hint at. Avengers 2012 comes 6 movies into Phase 1 and points towards a larger story with a core team of heroes and then builds phase 2 and 3 around them. Nothing in phase 4 / 5 suggests a similar central narrative… and the threads there are have too much irrelevant content in between any follow through on them.

But he did buy 20th century fox and Lucas film and completely ruin them to the point where Disney's entire market cap is basically the equivalent today of those two purchases ($75bn). Iger needs to fire everyone in charge at Lucas film and animation: the stories, casting and cgi is a joke. The company has become a joke.

Unless Disney changes (no chance) they will never bring it back to its glory days.

This is an interesting interview. Although calling Disney+ a loss-leader might be too extreme, it seems like Bob Iger is spinning the streaming channel's value as being as much about connecting directly with fans as it is about distributing content. As for the relatively new focus on costs, the macroeconomic climate with its higher interest rates is almost certainly a factor. Film and technology projects that were once NPV positive aren't any longer thanks those rates and the resulting slower economy. Ultimately, however, even if interest rates weren't higher, a pullback in content production was probably necessary. As a fan of Marvel and Star Wars (and DC and Star Trek), there was a time I would've found it hard to fathom stating this, but there was simply too much content being generated. Aside from diluting those brands, it also apparently took a toll on personnel, which probably hurt the end-product, as well.

Why? He's destroying DIsney! How can you be so blind to that? He needs to go, and the entire upper management staff has to go with him. all new management has to come in and RESTORE Walt Disney's original vision of wholesome, family entertainment and parks, that is geared to a large audience. Not the 1% of transvestite, race-obsessed female-bosses that want to tell everyone how to live. If you don't believe in Walt's original family vision, where it was GOOD for a princess to want to fall and love and find their "price charming", then you don't believe in Disney. Its something else. Call it "Rainbow Plus" or something, because it promotes division and perversion. And yes, Walt's family said he's spinning in his grave right now.

He acknowledged the failure to perform and mentioned their strategy moving forward is centered around making less and spending less. I'm not optimistic yet, but that's definitely the best direction for the company as a whole. Stop flooding the market with subpar content and instead focus on only releasing quality content. It's gonna take a company that big a few years to course correct, let's just hope it isn't too late by then.

Y’all want to invest in the parks? Why not upgrade some of the rides that are already built. For example…. Place more scenery and viewing points around the Walt Disney World Railroad. Trees don’t do the trick. Upgrade the speedway by replacing the current cars with more modern looking electric cars. Refurbish the figment ride. To me the most important thing is that Disney World needs a new fleet of monorails. They’ve already replaced all their parking lot trams, so it can be done.

Couldn’t agree more, this guy bob says he cares about the direct relations with customers at parks, and here you mention the compete out of date and garage WDW scenery/viewing points we pay to see, company has billions to upgrade everyday without interruptions to visitors, they should find ways to innovate on that to keep things fresh instead of closing whole sections of the park (feels like I’m paying to be in a construction site), right now the parks feel spoiled. Also I’m a DVC member who spends lots of money at Disney World.

Disney needs to build more Ride Attractions and not so much " walk around / stores" for their parks. People go to Disneyland, DCA, WDW to experience attractions that are exciting. The whole Avengers Campus in DCA in Anaheim California has ONE inneraction that the people can actively have an experience of hands on, doing something! Shops are good. Stunt shows are okay. But the general public are not spending hundreds of dollars to take their families to SHOP. During our last trip to Disneyland and DCA in June 2023; the shops were not crowded, very few people were spending time and money there. The LINES at every attraction that were open ( several attractions were closed for one reason or another); and due to the fact that more and more stores are a priority; definitely causes congestion at rides! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Disney has dropped the ball on what is the most important focal point in their parks! Just imagine how long Disneyland would have existed had Walt only built Shops. Mr Iger, it is clear that the bottom line is not creating a place for entertainment but for selling the Idea of obtaining a collectable. I love Disneyland and am a stock holder. But im very disappointed in what is happening.

A peak only happens if you recognize actual issues and fix them. Disney has just been pumping out Hollywood tropes that are just old now. And keep acting like their new release movies are a first for "insert diversity here", when movies done that back in the 70's or even earlier in some cases. Live action remakes are always bad. I don't know how you make a movie longer, yet feel rushed and low energy. Really the only good thing about the remakes is some of the music. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 was the only movie I looked forward to. Yeah they still did the divorce trope in a way. But that was on screen in a different series with reasons, so I give it a pass.

Bringing the whole family to films has drastically changed. 1st-Budget! The everyday consumer is really hurting these days and having multiple kids + partner + popcorn, tickets, candy for all... that's A LOT! 2nd- Kids desire to be off their tablets. It's over gang... if the kids have to be off the screen... their annoyed. So now you're FORCING them to go to something you can't even afford. 3rd- (the most obvious) Streaming culture even before Covid but def since then has taken over. You save all that money, the kids an still be on their devices and the whole family can pause for bathroom breaks. I LOVE the movies on the big screen. I'm a filmmaker and it's my every weekend thing to see movies at the theater. But nothing can stop evolution and the above... is only going to continue. My response: AMC and all theaters NEED to create a STRONGER EXPERIENCE to make going past the above hoops worth while for ticket buyers let alone entire family. ALL SEATS should be converted to 4D Experience. Something worth putting devices down for, something you can't get on the couch. ALL SEATS SHOULD HAVE THE OPTION to be normal for those who dislike 4D. It sounds simple but such an experience for literally EVERY MOVIE across the country would change everything and yes... TICKET PRICES REMAIN THE SAME or else it's not worth it. This will simply bring everyone out, back to the theater. It's a worthy investment to both the studios and all big chain theaters.

No one is going to convince me the Star Wars sequels werent rushed or meddled with, no one is gonna convince me the MCU shows werent rushed, no one is going to convince me the Pixar movies werent rushed and the Toy Story sequel #4 was not demanded by Disney to get more money....or numer 5 for that matter.
