Disney Channel The Wonderful World Of Disney Intro (2003)

The best era of Disney Channel ever! :) I'm not exactly sure when this aired but I know it was sometime around 2003. This intro is for Disney Movies before they air. I know that Channel 7 used this intro around 2003 as I have a recording of it.

Compared to the 1997 version of this The Wonderful World Of Disney which used to air on Disney Channel back before the rebrand to the 2002 logo in 2003, this intro has several differences: 1. 0:06-0:12 The transition to the ocean has been changed where rather than have the camera zoom in to the window as in the 1997 version, the 2003 version has it magically cuts straight to the window, and stock footage of live-action Mowgli (portrayed by Jason Scott Lee) from "Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book" diving into the ocean is replaced by new animation of Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" (1989) lounging on a rock nearby a CGI model of Captain Hook's pirate ship, and the camera zooms in at her to compensate for this change. 2. Abrupt cut at 0:13, where just as the camera pans to Captain Hook and Peter Pan's pirate showdown, it quickly cuts to the tower where Snow White is clapping to the song "The Silly Song" from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937). This is to make up for the 1997 The Wonderful World Of Disney opening music which has been shortened for this version of the intro. 3. Compared to the 1997 1997 version of this The Wonderful World Of Disney which used to air on Disney Channel, the CGI Sleeping Beauty castle is now recolored with darker colors in the 2003 version, and the night sky used in the background is now darker and not as well-lit as the original 1997 version, even with fireworks in the sky. 4. 0:39 At the end of the intro, the color and layout of "THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY" titles have been changed slightly; while the 1997 version has the titles spread out in the middle of the screen, the 2003 version has the titles squeeze space on the right hand side of the screen. In addition, while the 1997 version had rainbow colors used for the title, the 2003 version had the THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF titles colored yellow and the DISNEY title colored white. Also, in the 2003 version the CGI Sleeping Beauty castle is now positioned to be slightly further away from the camera compared to the 1997 version.

@@kingandrewcecil348 You see, many international networks have also used this intro. This includes Latin American and Japanese versions of Disney Channel. Other Asian and European channels have also used it. The Latin American version of the intro uses the full 1997 intro, with the only change being the title translated to “El Maravilloso Mundo De Disney”. In Brazil, it was named “O Maravilhoso Mundo de Disney”. Both intros were used till 2014. The European and Asian channels (by Asia I refer to countries like Russia) have used this intro, tho they made big changes to it. It usually begins normal, with the transition of the window showing Ariel. But on that transition the camera goes inside the water, showing Marlin, Dory and Bruce. Then the camera goes back up, showing off an new CGI animation, where we see Captain Hook, and and road section of the castle where we see Lightning McQueen driving. Then the next transition is normal, showing Snow White and Belle and the Beast, but instead of Buzz there is another Disney character (each version is different, showing another one). Another transition happens, showing another new CGI animation, where we see Simba, Nala and Rafiki, then we see another window. It either shows Aladdin or another Disney movie scene. Then the intro ends as normal, with the title changed, translated depending where the intro was made. The music would be the shortened 2003 version. There’s also an Indonesian version of the intro, made by this channel made RCTI. In this one, the CGI is fully re-made, tho it remains with the same animation and style as the version I mentioned above. The main differences are that, in the first look of the castle’s inside, instead of the Dalmatians and the lady and the tramp, we see the live-action Alice and Carl with Russell. Sorcerer Mickey would also get his 3D model. And for some reason, the text “The Wonderul World Of Disney” remains intact, tho the colors of it are in gold. The intro used in Disney Channel Japan would be the same as the one of this video, with the ending the only thing changed. The final notes of the intro would be extended, Tinker Bell never shows up and the text instead reads “The Magical World Of Disney”. The intro ends with an fade, not with the red, blue and purple sparkle fireworks of the end. It would be used till 2010. When the intros involved with this one stopped being used, these channels decided to make newer versions of the intro, replacing them with a ew intro, but with the 1997 theme still intact (tho it’s always shortened). Disney Channel Latin America and Brazil’s new intro would consist of many of the castle tower ascending from the clouds, while lanterns with Disney scenes in them are shown flying around them. The castle windows would also have Disney scenes. In Disney Channel Japan (also used in Disney Channel Korea), the new intro would consist of the following: It begins with a look at the night sky, till a star shines. Then multiple film frames showing Disney characters would begin going around the castle, which is modeled after the one in Tokyo Disneyland. The intro would consist of multiple camera shots of the castle, with film frames surrounding it and fireworks being shot. The text would remain named “The Magical World Of Disney”. However, when it got used in Disney Channel Korea, it was shortened, and the title would be named “Disney’s Movie World”. Disney Junior Latin America would also have its WWOD intro. The intro would consist of a look inside the castle, where inside of it there’s a factory, many robots producing in Disney movies. The intro would end with a look at the Cinderella castle, which surprisingly modeled after the one seen in the 2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo. So yeah, that’s a lot of the variants they made of this wonderful intro.

It's nice to see some countries still continue using the iconic 1997 Wonderful World Of Disney opening title sequence before airings of Disney movies even as late as 2011 (albeit with some updated changes made to reflect the addition of newer Disney theatrical movies) when like nearly 99% of Disney Channel feeds around the world such as the USA, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, etc. retired this intro before movies in favor of its own movie brand "Disney Channel Movie" since late-2005; it's very nostalgic, and yet, still reminds audiences on what Disney Channel's movie programming block really should represent as - its vast library of animated and live-action classic movies made for the big screen instead of made-for-TV live-action Disney Channel Original Movies, something which post-2006 Disney Channels around the world are sorely lacking nowadays until their recent closures in favor of Disney+ streaming service. And for a nice touch, some of these later Wonderful World Of Disney intros even had Disney's iconic fairy mascot Tinker Bell reanimated in CGI animation (despite still looking a bit cheaper in animation quality compared to DisneyToon Studios' CGI Tinker Bell direct-to-video movies due to the obviously smaller production budgets).
