Disney Cruise Week! | Disney's Private Island Castaway Cay, Farewell Party & Secret Character Meets!

Today is Disney Cruise Week Day 5! Thank you to Disney & Disney Cruise Line for inviting us on this 5 night Marvel Day At Sea Cruise for free. We start the day by heading off the ship and on to Disney's private island, Castaway Cay!! We've been waiting all cruise for this day! It was cold and windy in the morning but it did warm up after lunch. We ate at the adults only area in Serenity Bay. The food was served buffet style and was just okay but we were more excited for the snorkeling! We head back to the Family beach and snorkel around the island. They submerged lots of fun things that you can explore on the snorkel trail. They have a Mickey Mouse statue and a Minnie Mouse statue, A Nautilus ride vehicle from Disney World's closed attraction, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea! That was cool!! We also saw some squid, a barracuda and a sea turtle!! It was the best snorkeling ever. We head back to the ship for dinner at Animator's Palate, we saw the show this night too. Then we watched the Farewell show but also had a secret meet and greet beforehand. That was a really cool surprise! We had a great 5 days and we're definitely sad to be leaving the cruise. Oh, Tim your underwater footage was amazing. I have snorkeled there and you made me remember how incredible it was. I'm glad you both had a wonderful and magical time. 😊 Thankfully, the seas were calm for you. My husband and I were on our first cruise ever back in March 2001. It was a Disney cruise (I think we were on the Wonder). It was a 3 night cruise. The first night we were in a very bad storm. By the evening, the ship was rocking so hard that it was very difficult to walk. We had to cling to the handrails in the halls. It was very unnerving for us. I was having a lot of anxiety. Thankfully, the next two nights were calm seas. We ate at Palo on our last night. It was relaxing and wonderful. The food was great. I'll never forget our server's name - Dragon! He was so awesome! ☺ Overall, it was a fun cruise. Unfortunately, my husband came home with a not-so nice souvenir - the chicken pox! Of course we laugh about it now. 😁

I’ve never been on a cruise either, for similar concerns as Jenn had, but this definitely gave me a confidence boost. It’s super dumb, but that Fantasmic music at Artists Palette made me tear up (spoiler alert.... it always does.) great videos as always! I was reading through comments and noticed your worry about seasickness. You really don't feel much! The only thing I felt on ours (not a Disney cruise) was when our ship had a medical emergency, had to go back to shore, and then double-timed it to our destination. It was just the boat going faster than normal that made it a bit choppy, but even then it wasn't too bad. My husband was explaining it all to be before we went because I was nervous as well lol. Apparently they have air tanks or something to that effect that they can balance to stabilize the boat in rougher seas. Just bring along some Dramamine and you'll have a great time. :)

I went to castaway key on the Dream when I was younger. I mostly spent my time at scuttles cove and I remember they had this treasure hunt all around the island! I had a blast! (and yes, you’re correct about the stingray things... we got to feed them and they swam through those little plastic things)

Serenity Bay is beautiful, especially in the spring/early summer where the water is warm, take a couple beers out and sit in a foot of water. There's also the chance that Captain Jack Sparrow will walk down the beach.

This was a great Disney Cruise Series!!! I loved it. It makes me want to go back on one right now. THose things in the stingray adventure are the feeding stations for the stingrays and they go up and down those ramps. you get to feed them and pet them as they go up and down the ramp. The next time you go on a Disney cruise that stops at castaway cay I highly recommend the stingray feeding.

Other cruises are just...different. I feel i would feel like a kid on a Disney Cruise and an Adult on all the other tyoes of cruises. But sometimes you gotta just go sonewhere to feel like a kid again.

Loved the snorkeling footage, the turtle was great. My big grown son is a diver as well and isn't afraid of much but he hates cudas. We were doing a safety stop once and cudas love to hang out at the boats, the boy got behind his little bitty mama to protect him from that cuda.

The string ray adventure was worth it, Tim was right, those things float on the water, you hold down food on it and the stingrays swim up a ramp and over your hand to eat it, and you get to pet them. After you get the snorkel around with them for the rest of the hour. I'm glad Tim enjoyed the fish snorkeling, when did it in Nov, didn't see many fish at all, cause it was the time the waters were changing. But it was still worth the exercise to get out there... and work my way back to the shore to see the items down there. There are buoy's that mark were the stuff is (red/blue balls that float on top of the water)... good to know so you don't wear yourself out trying to find them.

You are right about the things at the stingray adventure. We did it a few years ago. They swim on those like a ramp. They float on the water. That’s how you feed them. They swim by and suck the food out of your fingers. Then you snorkel with them. Highly recommend it!

This series has been such a treat! I honestly never had any interest in going on a cruise before. In fact, I used to be a little afraid of them. We LOVED Castaway Cay, it was soooo nice there! The last time we went they had the Flying Dutchman ship there from Pirates of the Carribean. That was quite awhile ago though. The island is part of the Bahamas, Disney purchased a 99 year lease from the Bahama government in 1997.
