Disney Dream Cruise 2022 CASTAWAY CAY Island, Snorkeling, Crazy Storm, Serenity Bay, Wet BBQ & More!

Join us for day 3 of our first Disney cruise aboard the Disney Dream on Memorial Day weekend 2022! In this video, we visit Disney's private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, and go snorkeling to find Disney treasures like a Dumbo ride vehicle and more, before being called out of the water due to a massive thunder and lightning storm! We also visit Serenity Bay, the adults only section of beach, and have BBQ lunch at Serenity Bay BBQ, that is cut short by the oncoming storm. We see a crazy waterspout (a column of rotating, cloud-filled wind) that looks like a tornado hovering around the cruise ship, everyone on the island has to hunker down, we eat a soaking wet plate of BBQ, walk the abandoned airplane runway and finally catch a golf cart ride back to the ship, all the while being completely drenched and nonstop laughing and fun in the storm! It was the kind of thunder that sounds like the sky is ripping open and it was unforgettable! Castaway Cay is a slice of Disney paradise in the Bahamas that you can only access via a Disney Cruise, that we absolutely loved and already can't wait to visit again! The way you two handled that storm is exactly why you’re my family’s favorite! You could tell you were both having the best time and laughing through it all . Some other people would have complained or ruined the experience but you had a sense of humor and made it a day to remember . You also made the most of that snorkeling before they called you out of the water and you two had me crying laughing while you were “practicing “ 😹 I love how genuine you both are it’s such a joy watching these vlogs .

I have been to Castaway Cay four times and have never had the kind of adventure you two had. That water spout was something else! And you say that there were three total that went by the ship. Wow! It's all about the memories. You'll treasure this adventure. Strorm at Disney is always better than a sunny day at home! We were in a really bad storm one night while in Sense's spa..it was awesome! The water was sloshing out of the hot tubs. Great memory for us.

I have not been on a cruise in probably a few years now, I have been on royal carribean mostly, never tried yet a disney cruise. I like that disney cruises has the castaway cay island, that is the big reason I would try a disney cruise over a royal caribbean, they are both good I think in different ways. Royal has that promenade area with the slides, but I like the different environments they both offer something special.

@@SuperEnthused The allure of the seas, or oasis I believe are the same ship and then there are a few newer ones, my favorite I would recommend was the independence of the seas, it did not have the promenade outside but one indoor and it was my favorite ship. I think it is in europe now sailing. But will def consider a disney cruise soon!

I was texting Sam while u were there and I was telling him I’m glad you guys at least got to dock on the island because sometimes people don’t get to go period! Great snorkel footage. Hopefully next time you can get out to the nautilus in the back. I’ve always said serenity bay needs a more permanent covered structure for their lunch area because rain like that can ruin lunch time over there. Glad you had fun! Wow! What a Wild Adventure on the island! Sudden tropical storm, water spouts, rain-soaked hiking, talk about the Full Travel Package! 😉 But you and Sam handled it very well, taking it all in stride, but it definitely made for a memorable First Time Cruise experience. Really glad you were picked up by the golf cart, that would’ve been a long hike, in the rain, with thunder and lightning going off in the sky. Oh my this day you both will remember for a lifetime!!! My hubby and I got caught in a massive storm and downpour at wdw on the peoplemover we ended up laughing and other people on other trams were laughing and soaked too!!! But going into space mountain we were already drenched and we froze in there!!! Looks like a great time. My hubby and I are talking about a Disney cruise .

I was also on that cruise! The waterspout was crazy, we all had to evacuate. I had sand up my pants and everything. The sand was horrible but the waterspout, was a freak of nature! Loved the vacation!

Those island storms are crazy and so much fun. We went to Freeport one time on a cruise, and it rained like crazy. It's wild seeing such a flat area get rained on that much cuz it floods so quickly. I'm the weather nerd who would be filming as much of the waterspouts as possible. I've never been on a Disney cruise, but I've been on other lines and love everything about cruising. I miss it so much! This makes me want to go on another one so bad.

We have a zillion Disney memories but we still vividly recall our Everest 5K that occurred during a monumental downpour, standing in line for a Party For The Senses (in cocktail attire) when the heavens opened, and running through Disney Springs for a fancy dinner in bare feet with our pants rolled up so that we could be presentable at the restaurant...

You would think that DCL would have a better plan in place for storms like that. They're not uncommon, I'm assuming. The trams can't run when it's storming so it's safer to let people just walk? No way! You had such a beautiful attitude about it though. I would have been in tears!

I was laughing along with you while you were eating your lunch while getting soaked 🤣. I had something similar happen to my at a factory I worked at. They decided to treat everyone to BBQ for lunch one day they had a tent set up and the only table I could sit at was near the edge of the tent. Things picked up quickly and I and my food got soaked.

Cool adventures. Storm reminds me of a tropical storm I experienced at WDW with my sister back in the 80's. We got really wet but wanted to get the most out of a day.
