Yes it is expensive. I was hoping that with them adding more hotel/DVC space to the Disneyland hotel that we might see lower prices but it's still quite expensive and things seem to be selling out.

Did they check physical keys or your phone reservation for early entry? We are staying at the GC but grandma is joining us for a day and I'm hoping she can hop along to early entry with our family.

Hello - they have only checked our room key and we've done early entry about 10 times. They waive the whole party through when one of us shows our room key. Not everyone has the app on their phone - so I don't see how they could enforce that anyway - and hotel reservations don't automatically link to your app because Disney's tech is so weird. Based on our experience - you should be fine.
