She is Mother Nature, so the volcano was also a part of herself. Within the abundance and beauty of nature is also the destructive and deadly parts. You can’t have one without the other. It was the innocence of nature being confronted by her dark and destructive shadow. She had to see her total self to understand her power and capabilities. When she first saw this “evil” part of herself, she ran, until there was nowhere else to go. And that’s when her shadow consumed her, destroying her previous understanding of herself. When she “awoke”, everything had been destroyed. Everything she’d known about herself was dead, which made her feel defeated and apathetic. And the deer, to me, represented the unconditional love that is always within, whether you’re able to see it or not.. but can also come from a friend or family member. This unconditional love showed her what it felt like to have the wind in her hair again, that not all was lost. And crying has always represented healing, to me. You can’t fully heal from something until you feel the pain. And as soon as she started crying, new life began to bloom. She remembered the joy that came when she was creating new life.. she remembered her sovereignty. Our challenges hold the potential for our greatest blessings. Within life, there is death. And within death, there is life. Nature is cyclical and so are we. I saw this as a reflection of the inner transformations we all go through in our lives. 🦋

I am 63 years old. I don’t remember having seen this though I must have. My beloved daughter became a drug addict some years ago. When the deer “birthed” her with his breath, the long hair reminded me of hers! She was young, happy and full of joy! She tried drugs; they were the volcanic spew that ate her alive, and destroyed our home. Eventually, after years of rehabs she did get clean. A light went out of me, almost losing my child so many times, in this way. Powerless. Thanks be to God, programs of recovery and the most loving people who shared everything they could with her to get her well again, she was restored, like the sprite in the film. Thank you for posting this clip . God bless all the families of other addicts out there ; we are not alone ❤

One of my most ethereal and poignant memories from when I was a child is the day I watched this film. I was 13 and I travelled to the cinema in my city alone and bought my ticket. The film was playing in screen 10 at the Odeon on London road in Liverpool. A modest sized screen deep in the depth of the cinema. Quite far away from any other screen. I slowly realised that I was going to be the only person in that entire screening and I proceeded to watch the film alone in this beautiful cocoon. It was an utterly magical and an experience I won't ever forget

I don’t know if you noticed, but the setting of the video almost resembles Mt. Saint Helens. It’s a volcano that erupted back in the 80’s in Washington State and created a massive crater that took out half the side of the mountain. The landscape around it was reduced to tree stumps, timber, and ash. I wonder if the artist took inspiration from that knowing the beauty that surrounded Mt. Saint Helens before the eruption occurred and the landscape was turned into an apocalyptic world. Above all, amazing musical and art performance. Good job Disney. 🌲🏔🌋🔥💦🌱

One of the all time best examples of visually storytelling. No dialogue needed. We can see everything going on and all the character development. We can feel the emotions and relate. Through the actions and facial expressions of Mother Nature, we learned to care about her character at the beginning of this clip. Such a masterpiece. The best part is that this is a piece of art that can work with many different interpretations! The on,y creative thing they did was Moana. I loved Moana, but I think it’s ironic as hell that Moana shit on Old Disney while it clearly took inspiration from other Disney movies including this. The antagonist looked exactly like the volcano in this, while her true form looked a lot like Mother Nature. Also Moana clearly took some inspiration from The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas. Lindsay Ellis did a video where she pointed out all the similarities and plot points that were in both Pocahontas and Moana.
@killerklown217 ай бұрын
Yeah, and you can see from this animation that the Lava Phoenix is like a cruel mockery of Mother Nature. The inspiration that Moana took from this is very much obvious, especially since the Lava monster there was essentially Mother Nature twisted into a monstrous form.

Computer animation is cheaper and quicker so it makes more sense for companies to use it. Unfortunately this also means less care needs to be put in it. Some anime companies still use animators rather than computers for their shows and that is something I appreciate greatly. Unfortunately these artists have a bad time due to long hours for little pay which is scaring off new talent. It is my hope that one day animation like this will come back in popularity

Bring back 2D animation Disney 🙌🙌👏👏👏👏
@freddy2nt5 жыл бұрын
This level of 2D animation was only possible through decades of experience in animating on a flat piece of paper. Most people think that animations have evolved from 2D to 3D, but the truth is that 3D animation was the lasy way of animating! Technology ruins art. There will never be another 2D animation on par with this, or The Lion King, or any Disney classic. Simply because the people who managed to master the art are dead and the current generation of animators do not inherit the knowledge. Look up "recycled Disney animations" on KZbin to get a better idea of what I'm trying to say.

this is heavily 3d animation though, an early version of Houdini was used for this piece - mostly the beautiful Sprite flowing creations that appear as she flies through the environment i do hope that Disney eventually attempts another Fantasia though perhaps as some sort of collaborative compilation effort as the market for such a thing today is probably increasingly limited to do it entirely inhouse
@ScornedOne10805 жыл бұрын
@@freddy2nt Oh there is nothing "lazy" about 3D modeling . . . that shit takes hours upon hours . . . each character having hundreds of points of articulation, AND you have to add detail/texture on top of that. Don't bitch about 3D not evolving . . . the oldest instances of CGI were introduced in the late 70s and early 80s. The move TRON was the first to use the best tech at the time, and was nominated for an Oscar . . . but it was shot down. They though it was cheating to use computers.

You feel crushed having what you had and created taken from you and feel scared about spreading the love and creating beauty. Whether be help from a good true friend, family member or a partner you can rise again and heal, you may never forget the emotional scars but you can rise to being more powerful and creating even more beauty in the world.

It was amazing and beautiful to see Mother Nature bring the whole forest to life magically. Her one and only friend is the elk that often visits her when calls out to her when she answers his calls by feeling his breath. Loyal friends and companions. But beware of the spirit of destruction that destroys everything in its path, Mother Nature's evil shadow. No, the whole forest is gone, dead. But the elk found her and begged her to restore it and the all plants and flowers as well. She fixed everything with magic and the forest was better again. The guardian of the forest.

Lotus Jewell I don’t think it represent humanity. I think it shows that in life we have much beauty and joy; and without inevitable suffering, we would never appreciate it. Because of the volcano, life was born again and was able to reach even further up the mountain.
