I feel that genie plus is way better than fast pass BUT GP prices are getting out of hand. I've taken a trip when GP was $15 per person per day AND you could Pre purchase it with your vacation andi took another trip last year when it was surge pricing and day to today was a thing.... I miss pre purchase GP 😅

Something I noticed in Hollywood Studios. Some rides like Alien Saucers it seems like at certain times (5 PM) Disney will toss up an extra random lightning lane so if you are quick you can get it even if all the rides are sold out.

We are a large family, there is no way we can tac on another cost to the already outrageous Disney ticket + parking fees+ food costs. We will use the free Genie+ . This is one price gouge we refuse to play into.

I feel ya. I have a large family now and they also got rid of a lot of the annual passes that used to help us out a lot. The annual passes we had we could pay monthly payments instead of all at once and it gave us free parking! The fast passes were so convenient. I have little kids and the long lines are brutal but with the fast passes I could plan ahead of time and avoid almost all lines. Now with all the added prices, parking, genie + ect, it’s almost impossible for my family to afford to go now.

AJ and team, you are doing a good job explaining these methods Disney is using to control access to popular rides while they are inundated with guests. Still, i think it might take a PhD, or a very special kind of brain, to hold all this information and use it effectively. Do you think that when Universal’s Epic Universe opens, a lot of people will opt for that instead of Disney World, and alleviate some of the overcrowding? Thank you!

So complicated and stressful, what is the joy of going to Disney anymore constantly getting ripped off with constant upselling and hidden costs plus you need to be a logistics and computer expert or you spent tons of money to wait on line cooking under the Florida sun. Lets not forget there is less capacity at the parks with construction and ride closures.

There are two approaches to a Disney vacay. One is to plan it all out, the other is to wing it. It's up to your own personality to decide which is best. Honestly for me, it's all about the planning. If I want to wing a vacation I'm going to the beach.

I’m thinking save a reservation for rides that seat you side by side. Rides that have single rider lines don’t need to have that reservation for time saving purposes. This doesn’t mean all rides are like this.

I’m kind of wondering if you have an answer or maybe this could even be a show of why Disneyland and Disney World are so completely different and how they operate. I do wish genie plus would go back fast pass plus. But somehow lines just seem to be worse and rides break down way more it seems

Another hack for parents with small children is only one parent needs to make a genie + reservation if you’re doing rider swap. So you can get one genie+ or get two and book different non kid friendly rides

I have a question about the photos of the attractions. If I ride ToT 4 times during the day, only one with the genie reservation, I will get all 4 attractions photos? Or only the one I reserved thru the app?

I got DAS for my upcoming trip. Once you are approved, in the same phone call they will line you up with four park days and two DAS ride passes per day. You pick the rides you prefer, but might not get DAS for that ride. Each pass is essentially a one-hour window, like when you use Genie+. You go to the ride during that window, show your Magic Band or whatever to cast member, and they let you in the lightning lane. You still have to wait in the lightning lane, but it will be shorter, and you don’t have to pay extra - because you are physically or mentally unable to wait in long lines.

Yo the pricing is crazy one week at a resort and all the parks in July is about 7k

How many guests? My daughter (33yrs old) and I are going then. We stay at All Star Movies (all the hotel rooms are nice in all resorts so it’s a low cost with all the perks we need). We’re there 10 nights with 8 day park hoppers and our cost is $3588 total. I do understand for families it is pricey but when adults pay their own way it does cut down on the costs that’s for sure.

what is a "return time???

basically, when you book your lightning lane, it gives you a return time. this will be an hour long window (ex 3-4pm). then, you go about your park day and ride whatever else you want. then, at any point during that hour, you go to the ride you booked the lightning lane for, scan in (either with your magic band or phone), and go through the lightning lane queue, which will probably be about 5 minutes instead of the hour you might wait in the normal line. hope that helps :)

I’m a little confused. Disney’s website says you can book an individual lightning lane as a non-resort guest once the park opens, but the video says once you enter a park. Which one is right?

I cannot understand why Disney still has this. I find it to be the most stressful, rat race, feature. Dear lord why can I not purchase the dam thing the day before, why do I have to wake up and rush to my phone and begin my vacation with stress at 7AM, or maybe I'll wake up and Midnight and purchase, frustrating.

It's awful. Just what we all want to do while on vacation is be forced to wake up early rather than sleep in and actually be able to rest from an exhausting day at their parks or what's about to be a very exhausting day. I've never seen a company make something so unuser friendly. Ugh.

Both. You can join the queue and buy an ILL. In my experience, the virtual queue fills up way faster than the ILL.
