Well I will say that they're not the only theme parks having problems I can't remember the name of the company it was great the head company in cedar point and Kings Island I believe they are some other venues they've been having trouble for quite some time keeping Park attendance up. I mean if we look at the business format of a theme park literally dates back 150 years or damn close to it. So I think the bigger question is simply for how many generations can excited about standing in long lines hardly getting three rides a day because the lines are so long while they're standing in the sun and the heat? And then of course you have the cost that's associated with going to such venues so it what point do you get a generation or two then stops and says why do I want to spend thousands of dollars on travel expenses and overpay for everything in the park and all we're going to have to show for it is a couple of trinkets and a sunburn? I mean how long can you really keep that up I would say close to 150 years is a damn good run for any business model now I know the Disney but I'm saying that the entire business and or industry is in trouble. And there's varying reasons for each company and or Parks themselves is to why attendance might be down okay so Disney has some political backlash, but of course economics figure out whereas over at six flags it's purely economic problem. And then cedar point it's probably economics coupled with if you have a choice to go to Florida or Louisiana versus Ohio perhaps it could be a bit of a location problem who the hell wants to go to Ohio?

@@ebee3522 For Great Distortions of Characters from World History; See " Cleopatra!?" It's starting to "appear$$$" that both "Snow Brown Tanned from Sunbathing" AND their " Little Mermaid ", were possibly INTENTIONALLY created in such as manner as to be INSTANT FAILURES ?$$$ UTHINK? Fail then borrow more money? I'm waiting to see the " Barbie Has Anorexia" doll. Thanks for not just showing us other producers' VIDEO CLIPS and caring ABOUT the details of the information. Knowing how greed and the elite function; Seems evident this HAD to have been somebody's PLAN$$$?; Most creators are just not that stupid. (Bankruptcy?) A COMMENTER did mention Dreamworks....a group of Walt's trained original writers still trying to hold the fort. THIS GUY KNOWS EXACTLY what he's talking about. Some of your COMMENTERS need to try to WRITE PRODUCTIVE material encouraging the honest video producers and refer to CRITERIA THAT SUPPORT THEIR "ASSUMPTIONS!"How many stories have "they" written about mermaids btw? How about Beautifully Black females ? They have talented writers; why not just CREATE a new and different STORY starring " BLACK BEAUTIES ? WHY the necessity for such violence ....and DUH, and WHERE IS THE MUSIC ? According to Bob Brunner (Bambie orchestrator fame), "if the children don't leave the theatre humming the melody of any of the songs; it ain't a children's movie!" He claimed to have been quoting Walt. I'm looking forward to seeing a healthy movie titled " Barbie was Anorexic." The irony here is that Walt and his buddies were all members of the Church of the Latter Day Saints (The Mormans) . I worked at the WED studios on Buena Vista when I was a Kelly Girl in college...The "rumor" was that you couldn't get permanent work there unless you were Morman-but I do wonder if that was just a rumor. MAYBE THE NEW DISNEY WRITERS are rebelling against Christianity, Family, and all the things Walt stood for ? Poor Walt, must be rolling over in his grave; He's the one who said the "Children should come out of the theatre SINGING their favorite song from the movie." Yipes. Halle does have a beautiful voice; yes but I still haven't heard a melody worth remembering. AND WRITERS CAN'T IMAGINE mermaids without including MEN or a SHIPWREAK?? Singing underwater usually produces bubbles, doesn't it ? Not even a gulp in the soundtrack? If you're going to rehash your own former works, the least you can do is ascertain which items to leave in-instead of deleting them! . I may never understand why someone who was awakened or awoke....could become WOKE.! (Luckily, I can use it because it rhymes with "broke.") I apologize for not being woke enough to produce original materials that would appeal to Hollywood, and will probably be deemed to be racist; But I HAD to create MY "Little Blue Mermaid" as being " blue", because, unfortunately, logic played a major part in the "reasoning." The reasons behind that decision; Blue is the color that helps mermaids camouflage themselves while swimming in the oceans, so that the sharks can't see them well, and "Melody" is blue because she feels sorry for the Earth People... "Melody has a pet SeaPony, and I should apologize for not terming him a sea horse, so that others can understand from what the SeaPonies were derived(Surfer Boy) .I also apologize for "Melody's melodies, as they are actually appropriate for young children to adapt to, remember and, duh..actually SING. "LyndaFayeS Little Blue Mermaid" musical for children, by Geofonica, with three dimensional characters - And NO stories about sailors; I apologize, again, for coming up with an original story. Ana Maria Ceuca sings it in French, Spanish and Italian. Wish I knew some writers at Disney who weren't on a dry spell. "Honey" stars in " Beauty is as Beauty Does" and claims "Man should go to where he's never gone before....yep, his back yard!" "DisneyLAME" back yards GOOD. "The Great Awakening" the song from the dream...and not woke. What is funny is I don't think they can leave Florida. It is kind of the problem with the "resort town" they've turned Disney World into. If Disney World moves to one of the Carolinas, Colorado, or one of the other smaller states that has offered, they're basically starting over completely. Disney World would need to go back to what it was in the 80s and likely spend 10+ years rebuilding the park slowly. Nothing else works: Those states just don't have the tax revenue to support any major infrastructure changes on a speedy schedule. Its not that these states are struggling per-se, its that moving Disney World from an infrastructure-standpoint is going to cost 10s of Billions and Colorado (as an example) only rakes in about 75 billion a year in taxes... So even if Colorado gives Disney huge breaks on land, what are they going to do? Dedicate 15-20% of the state budget to building the infrastructure to support Disney World moving there immediately? That'd be political suicide, and Disney is incredibly cash poor, so I don't see how they can foot that bill. They'd have to put something serious on the market, like Fox. If Disney World moves to a bigger state like Texas, the state likely has the infrastructure to support the "resort town" concept right out of the gate, but most of those bigger states aren't going to cut checks like Florida did in the past to help Disney with the actual move. They either just don't have the money (i.e. California or New York) or don't really need Disney economically (i.e. Texas), so, similar to the smaller states, Disney is going to end up footing a lot of the bill.

@@People_of_the_Mouse sounds great when you say it that way but Disney was shifting things around to certain areas to make books look good for the parks (there was an article done on this). You also have to include costs & all that go along with what they claim in revenue, it’s not all profit. Compared to other years they are making money still by raising prices but people will not continue to pay the large prices & ones that do will not return on regular basis like previously. Disney management is greedy along with trying to be involved in politics even though they are supposed to be an entertainment company. They are trying to push a woke agenda & people are tired of it. When you go & expect entertainment you don’t want all this drama with it you want to enjoy your experience & you don’t want to break the bank doing it. People that side with them can disagree but the stats are proving them wrong & we will see this continue because Disney has forgotten they need us we don’t need them. It hasn’t happened overnight & they won’t go under immediately but they are seeing & feeling Universal passing them by. When Epic Universe opens Disney will find people will no longer pay high prices to see subpar attractions or rides.

Long before "DisneyWorld" or "Paris Disneyland" I was a kid in 50s Southern California going to the newly opened "Disneyland" in Anaheim, CA, a 20 mile trip from our house... It was great and I loved it until they got rid of the BOOKLET, with the A through E tickets. We as a family, never spent more than $50 for parking, rides, ticket books for 4, all day good food, fun and memories, etc. Suddenly, with an increased entry fee, anyone could get on any ride so all the E ticket rides were suddenly flooded and those rides, which used to mean a line up of about TWO MINUTES suddenly became lines of 40 MINUTES and MORE!! That's when I pulled away... then came DisneyWorld and Paris Disney and me saying... BYE BYE! Went regularly, pretty much annually for a bunch of years. It didn't seem so expensive, they weren't raising prices every year. There were still some mom-and-pop motels in Kissimmee that made it affordable. Quit travelling there, got married. Went back for the first time in 20 years when my daughter turned four years old. Cost me a month's salary for three of us to stay, eat and go to the major theme parks at Disney in a week. Haven't been back since 2006. I heard all about their new Ratatouille and Frozen attractions. Doesn't lure me. Now that I'm 70, I prefer to sit around and remember how it was. I wouldn't mind sending my grandkids--without me.

We're outside of their political crap I can say that this is most likely going to be echoed throughout most theme parks in fact it has been for quite some time. Think about it the concept of the theme park is pretty much 150 years old. That's a hell of a long life span for a business format particularly in the entertainment business. So the question is really for how many generations can you really keep people super stoked about not only paying money to get into a park but then to be excited to stand in huge lines that take up most of the day to the points where you're lucky if you get three rides a day plus you still have to pay money for everything else in the park??!!! One day there becomes a generation if not perhaps couple of generations no matter the reason that touches it off did they all said don't want to stand in the hot heat for shitty rides anymore and they all said don't want to spend $60 on a crappy lunch. To be honest a lot of people dumped the theme park concept 20 years ago if not 25 years ago most of those people generally kept quiet about it because amongst their co-workers friends or family they would look potentially bad that they're not taking their family to these places so now that there is political upheaval particularly at this they have a good reason to be more than boisterous about not going in fact they're almost obligated to sound off that their boycotting them. Both sides have a virtue signaling. So really I say that the core recent for the theme park business to be going downhill and has been going downhill for 25 years boils down to economics people simply can't afford it I can come off at cedar point which also owns Kings Island has been having trouble. I mean no matter which venue you care to go to even if you were to avoid theme parks and head over to the Christian camp verification I mean you still have travel expenses you still have to come up with the money to get into the fucking Park then you have the levels of passes that you can purchase of course you can repurchase all of this online but no matter you're still spending the same money I mean you're looking at basically what a couple thousand dollars to blow one week if your time at a shitty theme park no matter the theme and then all you're going to have to show for it is a couple of stuffed animals and a very bad sunburn? Yeah I don't think that people are really into that anymore so I can say it's not just Disney!

The relationship between Walt Disney and the CIA was so close, that they actually played a key role in helping Disney with the purchase of the land to build Disney World. Disney hired Paul Helliwell, who ran CIA operations in Southeast Asia, and “Wild Bill” Donovan, head of the spy organization that eventually became the CIA. With their help, Disney was able to purchase the land at a very low cost and retain control of the property

The last time I went I had Genie (completely worthless due to its design) and when I tried to buy express passes for the popular rides at 6-7am... I had to wait because of the priority system and could only get a reservation for 7pm. Even their staff complained that Disney's treatment of them was much worse. Magical vacation... my rear end. Our family visited in fall 1984 when it was reasonably priced for a world-class destination attraction. Researching a recent podcast, I looked into Disney World prices. In 1980, Disney debuted Unlimited Passport Tickets, priced at $18.75 for 2 days and $29.25 for three days (about $70 and $108 today, according to Inflation Calculator.) In March 2022, a three-day one park per day ticket ran between $325-$400 for an adult, depending on the time of year. How can an average family afford this?

One thing I am surprised you didn't cover in here, which I think is _huge_ is that engagement with kids is down. Back in the 90s/00s, when those parks printed money, Disney was seen not just as a kid friendly brand, but a brand that kids identified with. The 10s/20s has seen Disney fail on both of those labels. Disney's politically charged messaging has brought the divisiveness present in modern politics into parental focus, so many parents see engagement with Disney as political now, so many parents now see something as simple as a Disney World vacation as inherently aligning with their world views. On top of that (and potentially more importantly), Disney's lack of content which appeals to younger/pre-teen audiences has resulted in failing engagement with younger kids. Couple that with Disney's "Princess Problem" (i.e. they turn every IP into something that feeds into the "Disney Princess" brand, even Star Wars and Marvel), and the result is Disney has spent the last decade building a brand that is targeted at women in their teens and twenties, rather than kids and pre-teens in general. These issues have collided into a reality that Disney World is just not a destination for parents with young kids anymore, and the age demographics that Disney appeals to aren't likely to prioritize a Disney World vacation given the cost of it is comparable to an all-inclusive, and there are way more cost effective travel options. Seriously, just look at the data for the 5-12 demographic. That age group just isn't watching Disney stuff like they used to back in the 90s/00s. Video games are absolutely booming in that demo, and you're seeing KZbin, Netflix, and Comcast brands really push into the spaces Disney used to occupy. Speaking anecdotally, I am a great example of the problem Disney has. I have daughters who love Disney Princesses, they have bought into the brand, and I can tell you that my kids aren't bugging me for a Disney vacation, it just doesn't click for them, even when I show them videos of what happens there (we've entertained going three years in a row now). My oldest daughter wants vacations to revolve around water parks, she thinks the Magic Kingdom looks cool, but every time it has come up she just asks me if they have a water park there. Her younger sister doesn't understand why we would go to Florida to see Jasmine or Rapunzel when they can "just come to her birthday party" (we hired Princess look-alikes to be at her birthday for like 200 bucks). I hate to say it, but Disney kind of made this bed for themselves. Its been 15 years in the making, and they've had plenty of warnings along the way. I can't feel sorry for them.

Well certainly people are tired of their political however you have to figure that for every person that is against their stance there's probably three people that aren't that could care less. So the real race that Disney is having a shitty time is simply because most people don't have the money to go there it's insanely priced furthermore if you stop and think about what the typical theme park experience is it's hardly fun you stand in the sun all fucking day and you're lucky if you get three rides because the lines are insanely long. I can say that it's not just Disney have a problem so the company they've been having problems for years to be honest things at Disney haven't been the best since pretty much the mid-90s I mean it's been 25 years they've played slight amounts of hell trying to get people down there I think what has happened for the most part outside of the political stuff is simply the concept of theme parks is just dying it's a business format that literally dates back $150 years so the bigger most important question about all of this is simply for how many generations can you actually expect people to be super excited to pay loads of money to get into the park to do nothing more than stand in the hot fucking son and pay 60 bucks for a shitty lunch I mean that cannot go on forever it does not matter if it's the political crap that touches it off coupled with economics or if it's pure economics that touches off the decline the point is people have lost interest I don't think people really understand the sun was screaming kids all fucking I think America is literally asking themselves why they volunteered to do that to begin with!

I don't think I've ever invested in a luxury service. I built this business just after the 2007 housing-crisis. One of the first things I did, was understand the difference between a need and a want. People need banks (for the most part). They need oil. They need internet. They need electricity. They don't need restaurants, hotels, cruises and theme parks. Happiness died in 2009. We're in a declining empire. Invest wisely and don't neglect your physical assets, because this all comes crashing down, all that might actually matter is how much water, food and ammo you have.

Exactly right! Two and a half years ago, I asked my investment manager to sell all my Disney stock. He was reluctant, citing the strong performance of the parks. I insisted, based on my dislike of the company's leftism. He sold the stock and I made a good profit. Now, investment gurus are telling people to buy. I smile whenever I read that. A company that's selling assets is what we in the infantry used to call "a withdrawal under pressure" or, in other words, a retreat. Disney's woke ideologues will never give up their leftist religion, the board will just hire another Iger after he leaves and the company is doomed. Anyone who buys Disney stock now is what my father used to call "a damned fool".

You were a kid in the 50s? Lucky.. I was born in 84, I swear I have an old soul all I do is watch old shows from the 50s 60s 70s. Gunsmoke being my absolute favorite, what was it like in the 50s and 60s? Was it like they say it was? You could actually afford a house and car, everyone was active and very social. Everyone treated each other with kindness, society actually had respect for each other.

Honestly Disney needs to put Back the magic into Disney. They need step back from Hollywood and refocus on the theme parks. Lower the prices of the tickets and make it about the family experience again And maybe then release the odd movie. I’m a 41 year old metal head who was brought up on there movies. And It’s sad that kids today won’t feel that same warmth inside.

Also, with high prices charged, there is no reason to make $600,000,000 dollar movies. Disney employees are making $18.00 per hour. That is NOT enough money to live in the State of Florida anymore!

Amusement park jobs require few skills for the most part. I'm not defending Disney at all but employers pay for skill levels. As an employer, I would expect to pay my college educated accountant much more than a highschool dropout bussing tables. Salaries aren't based on the value of a person. You cannot put a price on a person. But skill sets are much different. If a person wants to earn more money, that person needs to learn a skill set that is in demand.

remember when the toddler was eaten by the alligators, that is when i decided to never go back to disney or buy anything disney. the hotel had a man made shore line inviting you to come wade in the water, the only warning signs were Do Not Swim. but no warning signs of gator infested waters. how sick is that. they should have been charged with murder. and management was alerted by several people who noticed the alligators from their balcony, and the response was oh the gators are our friends. well they were not the toddlers friend.
