Thank you for showing us the rules! I'm more excited about the game now: it seems like there will be more depth and variety to deck-building than I originally feared. I can now see how this will both work well for kids, and yet can get very competitive. Spells will really change things! I assume there will be some sort of AoE, otherwise the best start will always be to ink something huge like Gantu and then drop a whole bunch of 1 and 2 drops on your first turn (going wide), and just questing with all of them (except maybe one held back for shenanigans) immediately. You'd expect to lose characters quickly, but also win the game on turn four or five. So I look forward to seeing the AoE! 💜

According to what was said, inking something big or small, regardless, will only result in 1 ink being produced, so inking something big like Gantu should only produce 1 ink, but should free up your hand for other cards you might be able to afford

@@Bluerawgamer He meant to drop your cards that cost a lot of ink with huge. ;) So it means to drop your high cost cards as ink early on and then rush the board with smaller stuff that just generates ink fast.

I plan on playing this TCG very seriously. They're supposed to have a strong tournament scene from what they've said, and I'm really excited for it. The big thing I need to know is: Is there a Legend Rule like in MTG? Can you have multiple of the same character in play at the same time, or are they unique characters, so the extras clog up your hand?

If they have that ink symbol then technically they're not clogging up your hand. You can just play them as ink. That being said that is still a good question though.

I didn't think it was even possible for me to be MORE stoked about this game, yet here we are. It seems like they've grabbed a bunch of different mechanics from a bunch of different TCGs and lumped them all together into a nice package. The Ink system is almost identical to Kryptik, but that community is incredibly toxic, so I'm glad to see another TCG implementing this system. The quest or challenge system really adds another layer I wasn't expecting. Seems like there's going to be some pretty in-depth strategy to this game. Props, Disney. You done good. I will be opening tons of packs of these cards on my channel once this launches. Super excited!

The one issue I'd have with, of course, the mana system, is if there isn't a proper drawing system to balance it out. DBS really suffered from this. One general question is, do you need to match colors when paying ink for cards? The rules don't really specify this. It might not be necessary because the game limits you to 2 colors (which I like a lot personally, see Elder Scrolls Legends).

Your mana can be used for any of the colors in your deck

Ink is played face down. So you don’t have emerald vs ruby ink by example. All face down ink cards can pay for any card

The rules do specify. "Once you put a card in your inkwell, nothing on the front matters -- including its ink cost and ink type. It's simply ink."

Hearing that this game plays a lot like Keyforge makes me more excited for Keyforge return. Lorcana will of course do well, but with the new Keyforge formats I'm really looking forward to getting into it.

Okay, one question answered, when I learned that Inkwell cards could pay for any coulor, makes sense since they are facedown, my imideate thought was: what stops you from throwing together all the best cards from all coulors into one deck? But the limitation to 2 inks per deck takes care of that, thank god.

theres very little to stop you from summoning characters, never exert them so opponent can't challenge, and do nothing but that, then when you have enough, 'quest' them all to get 20 lore and instantly win. The only way for opponent to stop you is removal effects and there doesn't seem to be many and they seem to be costly like the 5 cost dragon fire, and all it does is remove 1. Seems like every deck is going to have to be mostly removal effects to stop this, and again doesn't seem to be many and they're costly, or it will be solitaire, 1 of the 99 problems duel masters had.

Then your opponent will beat you out because they will be questing the whole time, getting chances to quest multiple times per character.

@@shadowedknight66 You could say the same for duel masters, as in ' your opponent will beat you out because they will be attacking the whole time' but that wasn't the case and it's the same situation you'd just summon pass and not attack until you had 6 creatures and attack for game. Most times in any 'manacurve' tcg both players will have the same amount of characters until removal effects unless a player 'bricks' because most times things will be even, so if both players have say 3 characters, even if you quest midgame, the first player who quests midgame loses because then you'd get challenged and removed, then your opponent still has 3, you have 2 but then you do it back then you have both have 2, then if you keep doing this you will have no characters and opponent will have 1, then it's back to square 1 of summon pass until you have game on board. It's the basic maths that created the situation in duel masters. At least in magic you can block which remedies this by a degree. There's no universal mechanic that blocks questing. So heavily removal oriented or solitaire.

This reminds me of a lighter version of fantasy flight lord of the rings which could be cool. I imagine they could put location cards in and a self playing rule set and then you can get a co-op game to.

The ink system (mana) is very much like how DragonBall Super is played so me personally I’m not TOO worried about it. Adds an element of strategy because you’ll have to choose to keep the card or have it as ink. The one thing that doesn’t make it much more difficult when compared to DBS is that only certain cards can be used for ink where as in DBS any card in your hand can be used for energy/mana. Overall this game looks amazing and I’m SUPER pumped for it to release

I play dbs as well. One of the issues i had back in mtg is that you either have too many lands and not enough cards to play or not enough. A lot of standard decks brick too often. Being able to always have options as long as you have cards in hand is fantastic. Tho it seems hand size will be very different in lorcana since draw effects seem to be slower and expensive tho this likely will change over time

So it says you can put a card face down to add into your inkwell as long as it has the ink symbol around its cost, but how can you confirm your opponents are not cheating by putting hades into their inkwell if you are not allowed to look at the cards they have stashed?

I don't really like how the mana system works in this game. Like okey you can uses any card to become mana but other than for paying a card your play card who become a mana don't have any other uses also the game don't have alternative mana card who specializes on mana field. It maybe can be fix with some effect like returning card from mana, or an effect you make you can play a card from mana zone. Also with atlast a card required to be mana just hope the draw engin in this game not suck. Especially with 60 card in deck.

I would like to see abilities like "if you have (x) number of a certain type in the ink/mana pile then you get a +x bonus" or something along those lines, because your right it feels so bad to give up 1/4 cards to never see it again without some other use, idk maybe I'm exaggerating

​@@emberpowertcg7692 It is an improvement in some ways over MTG though, because in Magic your resources or land cards can often flood or screw you depending on your draw. With this most of the cards will be able to serve both roles, either resources or cards to play. Having played Duel Masters/Kaijudo though, it does feel bad to lose good cards to resources sometimes and you often run low on cards to play late game.

@@Bezaliel13 Keyforge was notorious for having "OTK" decks. Generating resources is usually less interactive than taking life from your opponent, so it will need delicate balance :P

Probably will get villains that can steal to "cheat." Of course, Songs seem to have already powercrept Actions *mechanically* tbh, so might have to worry a little. Honestly, we can only hope.

I personally like dedicated cards for resources like mtg or force of will. I can test using cards from other TCG's as proxies to see how I feel before buying, at least it's standing out against other massively poular TCG's though. And having similar aspects to Keyforge doesn't count because I never hear that being on the level of Digimon or One Piece in mass appeal.

There is like 10% of the cards revealed. Thats quite the statement to make. You are assuming what we have seen is an equal portion of every mechanic in the game. They might be holding certain mechanics to reveal closer to release.

the thing I like the least until now is that art direction for each card is way too similar. I know that there are different artist involved and the artworks are really great but I'd like to see more different artstyles involved, similar to what happens in Pokémon and One Piece

Sounds like Quest is an immediate action. Exert a creature -> get Lore. The video mentioned a different game called Keyforge as a comparison, which might be causing the confusion. In Keyforge you also use creatures to collect resources, but unlike Lorcana those resources don't win the game by themselves. They have to be "forged" into keys, which doesn't happen until the start of your turn, giving the opponent a chance to stop that from happening.

I'm honest the mulligan rule feels really really strong! You can just abuse it if you're looking for a certain strong combo. I'm honestly thinking they'll change it fairly early on in the games lifespan when the first weird combo decks are appearing and abusing this mechanic.
