This film is special to me because it doesn't shame the feeling of sadness, and shows how sadness belongs, and has a purpose and a place in each and every one of us. We're bombarded each day with exhausting expectations to be happy, to be positive, to smile even if you don't feel like it. But life isn't like that; it's about balance, and being in touch with our melancholy, sombre, sorrowful sides for the sake of being healthier, happier, more balanced people.

Charles Dickens once said, "Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hard hearts. I was better after I had cried, than before--more sorry, more aware of my own ingratitude, more gentle.”

I find the movie special for that same reason. Society needs to see that sadness helps balance our emotional health. And really, sadness is one of the biggest things that show were human. I'm totally sick of being told to always be happy and joyful even when inside, I'm not.

We're told to get away from sad people and only hang out with positive people. It puts a lot of pressure on people to cover up their emotions instead of getting through them.
@emilyannthevioletghost7158 жыл бұрын
bananian That's true. We need to be with those who are down to help them through, and really, sadness and joy go hand in hand to help make us more human than people think we should be.

@lionboy923 when I was 7 or 8 we moved. We moved from Kildare(down the bottom of ireland) to donegal ( up the top of Ireland). I missed home for a very long time after that. I went from having loads of friends by my side to being bullied on a daily basis. The bullying didn't start for about a week after starting school there so it wasn't really until then that I noticed how much I really missed it. Bit now I have the best friends I could hope for so I'm extremely happy that we did move

Michael Giacchino is such a talented composer. He didn't layer too many pads, but he chose the perfect ones. It feels as if the memory orbs are the instruments he used to make the song at 1:49. His ability to create music that fits the fictional environment is so inspiring.

Aside from how beautifully touching it was to see Riley breaking down sobbing and expressing her true feelings to her parents, I also love the bit when Joy offers Sadness the blue core memory (from the first day of school), trying to atone for her earlier treatment towards Sadness. However, Sadness decides to discard that core memory as she and Joy create a new core memory in tandem that is both happy and sad. The first core memory Riley made in San Francisco of her being hugged by her parents is both yellow and blue, showing how pivotal this moment is for Riley.

0:20-1:32 And so it begins: Riley's depression is seconds from its tipping point... Like thunder rumbling faintly in the distance, it heralds the dark, lifeless void of a storm. The waters churn restlessly with frustration. Her wrong choice is about to unleash a grey, soulless hurricane which will devastate her life. And yet, what ultimately undoes this relentless force? 1:10 The power of a single teardrop... In one epic moment, Sadness averts Riley's fate, diminishing the storm and clearing her mind like the waters' smooth surface. Now full of new-found hope, Sadness sets Riley off on a path home!

This film REALLY hit me. I think it’s because I was about the same age as Riley when I first watched it in the cinema, and it’s the first time I can remember really trying SO hard not to tear up whilst sat an inch from my parents, on multiple occasions. Even though others, such as Up and the toy story films have really made me ugly cry, this one just hit me on a personal level, and I love this film to bits

Out of all Pixar movies this one is my favorite. I can connect with Riley's emotions and how she is so homesick. I've moved at least nine times and am atte nding my eleventh school. I have recently moved again ( like on January 7) and I am missing my friends like crazy. The place that I am at now is no good. I just want to go back. ... so lucky how Riley's parents agree on moving back.

This is my favorite Pixar movie too! It's not my favorite movie overall, but I just love it! I've never teared up so much. I thought it was an average kind of movie the first few times I saw it, but nowadays, it's scenes like these that make me feel emotional. I know how much pain Riley had been through struggling with moving to San Francisco, and how much she misses Minnesota. Watching her break down crying in front of her parents makes me wanna cry too.

I know those two have gone from my life, but I want to just rewind time back to 2016, say goodbye to my dog, scatter his ashes. I feel so selfish. All I did was sat in a dark room scoffing my face with chocolates whilst my family went out to scatter his ashes in his favourite place. 2011, so I could say goodbye to my grandad again. He was just amazing, unfortunately he lost his battle to lung cancer... Cancer won. He was a strong man tho.. I remember the days vividly. I was young and small, my grandma became the carer for my grandad as he progressively got worse. She has frosted like glass where you can see silhouettes of people but not clearly. She was wiping his face with a damp cloth. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. My parents never told me he was slowly dying front of us as young kids

Many people are saying that joy can't exist without sadness, and it's true, but it's also the other way around. It's not about paying more attention to a neglected emotion, but allowing all of them to do their job. Emotions exist for a reason, and that reason is what keeps the mind healthy. Trying to control them is what leads to trouble (in my case it was anxiety and depression), so every time you feel like you just need a moment to cry, a moment to laugh, a moment to feel angry..... well, go for it.
