According to the internet These are characters who are princesses, but aren't official members of the Disney Princess franchise. They sometimes or rarely are included in some products. Some unofficials aren't included at all due to it's marketing and how successful their movies where. There were some like Esmeralda, Jane Porter and Tinkerbell were once part of the franchise and later removed due to Esmeralda not being strong enough fiancally to fit the Disney Princess criteria, while the Disney Princess brand was in compeition with Winx Club, which was why Tinkerbell was removed from the lineup. Then Jane Porter was removed because her color scheme of her dress was too similar to Belle's, to avoid people confusing her for Belle, that was the reason why she was also removed from the lineup.

Okay, I gotta criticize. If you're saying Ariel is from Denmark instead of the US just because Denmark controlled the US Virgin Islands at the time that her story is set (and no, the author being Danish does NOT mean he's obligated to set his stories in mainland Denmark), then you also have to specify that Merida is from Scotland, NOT the UK, as Scotland did not belong to England at the time. Also, Jane is very clearly from England, not America. And you don't get to use the book as a pass because you're referring very clearly and specifically to the animated films. So you HAVE to use the date the animated film came out, which is 1999. And in the film, Jane is English. You are missing Moana, who is from Samoa, and Mirabel, who is from Colombia. Raya isn't from any specific country, but rather represents multiple regions in SE Asia, so if you want to narrow all of these down to one country, you'll have to omit her.

REMARK: Personally, the princess I identify with and like the most, is Belle. To me, she is the one with the most character, very independent, with an intellectual passion (reading books), outside of cooking and cleaning or serving others, and constantly stood up for herself in the face of an injustice or disrespect done to her, instead of lowering her head in submission. She stood up to both Gaston and the Beast when he showed disrespect and never compromised herself. She refused to marry an arrogant man when he even tried to blackmail her by using her father and also showed Beast his place when he crossed the line, while another princess like Snow White or Cinderella, in the same situation, would have probably cried and accepted their fate or wait for someone to rescue them. Belle knew what she wanted, had self-respect, was decisive and independent minded, not submissive and helpless like Snow White, Aurora and Cinderella, yet very feminine, soft, kind, righteous and delicate. Just unapologetically feminine. To me she is perfect and the one I would see as a role model. As a bonus, I also love the fact that she is French. It fits her character and the book reading passion. I have the most common personality traits with her, or at least I like to think I do. 😃
