Little mermaid is actually Danish not Greek. The idea that mermaids are in Greek mythology is a inaccurate misconception. Sirens and mermaids technically aren’t the same.

The story that the movie is based on is Danish, but I believe it was confirmed at some point that the movie takes place in the Mediterranian, though I remember Prince Eric's kingdom being in Italy, not Greece ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As far as I understand, Powhatan is unfortunately an extinct language. There are a few written records by William Strachey and John Smith (not Pocahontas' husband John Rolfe), of some 600 or so words. But that's all that's left of the language. She’s written by a Danish man, which you probably know. But the history of The little mermaid would be in Greek. Probably because they use Greek history - the mermaid king etc.
