Disney's Aulani Makahiki Character Breakfast, Pool Day, Menehune Trail & More

Our fourth day in Hawaii and our second day at Aulani saw us visiting Makahiki for their Character Breakfast followed by a relaxing day at the pool. Aulani has two water slides, a tube slide and a body slide, as well as a lazy river.
We ate at Mama's Snack Shop for lunch, which is a quick service location in the Aulani pool area. The kids went to Aunty's Beach House in the afternoon which is a complimentary daycare of sorts.
Then we went down to the beach before eating at dinner at Off the Hook, another poolside dining option at Aulani that has both table service and mobile order options.
After dinner, we did the Menehune Trail Scavenger Hunt and enjoyed a beautiful sunset down by the ocean.

Every video we saw said Aulani was expensive, and they weren’t joking. I see why people go to Costco and buy food to cook themselves or eat elsewhere for every meal.

Wait till she sees Makahiki’s dinner cost. 😱😭 The character breakfast is on par with Goofy’s Kitchen in Disneyland. I think Goofy’s actually might be a tad more expensive.

Correction, Goofy’s is the same price. Goofy’s is a buffet though. Truthfully, that didn’t really matter as we still didn’t eat all our food. In a way, Makahiki is better because we got to take the leftovers and ate them for breakfast the next morning.

We are loving your videos! How long do you roughly think the Menehune trail takes? And did you have to book in advance?

About 20-30 minutes. The iPad rental is an hour. You have to have it back before then so it doesn’t take too long. No reservations. You just show up and ask to do the trail at the Pau Hana Community Room.

About an hour. Amy left a little early, maybe 7:50 AM, to get a spot at the pool, while I settled the bill and took our leftovers back to the room to put in the fridge.

I think so, technically. It was a Deluxe Studio. We didn’t use DVC points, and aren’t DVC members. But we were still able to book that through the regular channels. It wasn’t a special request or anything.
