Disney's Beauty and the Beast (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Hudson's 1994 Super NES Disney-movie based platformer, Beauty and the Beast.
It's a lot like the NES version, but with some pretty amazing detail in the graphics, a really well-done soundtrack, and the most horrendously spiteful gameplay mechanics you're ever likely to encounter. If this was full of blood, army guys, and Nazis I would understand - then the game would obviously be intended for teens/adults.
Seriously, though - what were they thinking? Imagine being six or seven and receiving this for Christmas, only go get one of the most frustratingly difficult games on the SNES. You'd be part of the perfect target demographic - except that you'd probably not stand a chance at getting beyond the first stage. I love the presentation here, and I forced myself to get through it because I wasn't going to let, of all games, Beauty & the Beast get the best of me, but man. Unless you're looking for a game that makes Contra III look like a cakewalk, you're better off using a Game Genie. Or avoiding it all together.

I ended up buying a every game that was made for the SNES so I was able to complete all of them. now I don’t recommend buying all the games as it’s a waste of money but it’s still cool to be able to say that I own all of them

I have this interesting scary theory about the enchanted objects that are attacking the beast. For those that still remain loyal to him, there are others that have been driven to madness by the long enchantment and have now turned against the master to make him pay for their cursed forms.

The prince was barely even a teenager and was recently an orphan. But of course she has zero empathy for what he's going through.

The platforming levels were DEF too hard early on (esp for the 5 yo me as well). The difficulty scale should've been the post-forest castle middle, final third, and THEN the forest third. Learning that you had use some of the creatures as platforms for perfectly TIMED screams = rage quit

Mixed feelings about a sixteen-bit synth "The Mob Song" playing over "Beast is having an unusually hard time in the castle for no reason". ... Then -- in a part of the story where something that ominous might be more suitable -- you get that more downbeat version of "Gaston!" -- ... Reminds me of something I'd hear in _Quest for Glory_ or something. ... One of the later recuts of "The Mob Song", some of these graphics at the end, the transformation that goes by... feels familiar. On a passing side note- So, LeFou's _packin'_ ...!

Finishing this game is one of my proudest gaming achievements. It’s right up there with The Lion King. ^^ From the first cutscene which is so nostalgic, to that rising spike pit in the *second level* , to the purple curtains (purple drapes, eeeee!), to whatever that pterodactyl thing was, to the snowball level that was harder than what it should have been, and then when I died on the final part because I jumped down into the wrong part of the pit and missed the rooftop where Belle was … yes, that actually happened. Also, my game cartridge had a green chip instead of the standard colour. To this day I’ve never known why . . .

@@BIGNOSEPOPPA the interesting thing was there were 2 different versions of Aladdin… the Aladdin game for Sega Genesis was developed by Virgin games USA… the game for Super Nintendo was developed by Capcom. So they were 2 completely different games. I liked the Sega Genesis version better by Virgin personally… you got to use a sword for your weapon in that game unlike the SNES version

I know this vid's old, but still... I'd like to say my piece. After seeing one individual [I'm not at liberty at saying who he is this time out of fear of namedropping] attempt the first level, and my my attempts to clear that first stage... Hudson and Probe [I guess?], this is one of your worst misses yet! And this came out in a time where there were much better platformers such as Donkey Kong Country, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 [Plus Sonic & Knuckles], Mega Man X, and Earthworm Jim. I can't wrap my head around as to why people can mess up the Beauty and the Beast license so much. This game, first of all... No. Just, just no. I've seen gameplay footage of the Genesis titles... Even if one's ridiculously hard, and the other's pathetically easy, they don't catch my fancy in the slightest. And then there's Beauty and the Beast: A Board Game Adventure for GBC, a Mario Party-esque game - From what I've seen from a LP of that game... The story mode's die rolls seem to be loaded against your favor! I'll bet when I get around to playing Kingdom Hearts II in whatever shape or form, it'll definitely feel more at home for me.

This actually looks cool and wicked for a game based on a chick flick, it's got a dark vibe going on. This game should of been re-released alongside aladdin and the lion king in that disney collection. It would of made more sense to include beauty and beast in that collection instead of the jungle book since those 3 movies were from the same era of the disney Renaissance

According to Console Wars, yes you can. You have to catch the snowballs.That was one of their biggest complaints of the game other than the jumping. That level should've been a bonus level.

This game sucks dude. Because of jumping in order to move is the momentum but the books and bats were terrible, super fast run careless to hit by an enemy, and teetering but it executes terribly. So I chose the Sega Genesis version of Beauty and the beast (two games like belle's quest and roar of the beast) so you have watch the Console Wars to prove me I'm right.
