There are multiple levels to maintenance: - Routine maintenance, which consists of inspection, cleaning, greasing, and replacing wear parts before they break down. And replacing parts found during the inspection. - Breakdown repair, which consists of repairing the broken item and inspecting other items that may have been damaged, and possibly reducing the time for routine maintenance. - Writing reports and updating everything in the computer. - Lastly, looking at spare part inventory. This is huge! Having sufficient spare parts available is extremely costly. At WDW it has to be in the 10s if not in the hundreds of millions of dollars in inventory. If they have to wait to make spare parts, or modify parts to fit, this costs time, but saves money, at least on a temporary basis. Refurbishment is frequently just extensive routine maintenance. They will sometimes make external changes to refreshen the ride, but key wear components are replaced. Obvious example of an issue: The WDW monorail is years past its design life. So breakdowns are to be expected. And they will occur, until the $500,000,000+ budget item is approved.

Me my husband have both worked in the parks and seen good and bad workers there. So when things like this happen, you question why they fire or keep certain people. Disney is just picking favorites.

Back in 2020/2021 WDW let go of 32,000 (long time) cast members in all areas. I was one of them. They did not replace us! That is a big loss of seniority and knowledge gone for no good reason. What do you expect? All the experienced cast are GONE.

The show at DL was always better than the one at HS. But after Murphy burned up, the show they brought back isn't as good, still slightly better than HS, but nowhere near as good as it was before. Instead of "plussing" it, they "minussed" it. This stems from current leadership from the board to Iger, HATES Walt and Roy. They're jealous of the talent, ingenuity, and vision, that they don't have. So if they can't do it, then destroy it. As Iger said, no original ideas are allowed at corporate disney anymore. Because he has nothing original about him. The only thing he knows is IP. But he's NEVER created anything fresh, new or original in his entire career, not just at corporate disney, but as a network exec before that. So why take care of that which you loath? Especially if the pixie dusters will still pay through the nose more money and get less for it.

Concerning the Disneyland show's costumed actors not showing up on the island, even though the lights are directed to the location where they are supposed to be, is there any insider information indicating why no one showed up for work? Was their a quiet strike behind the scenes?

Yeah, it's too bad. He has similar views to these guys - that Disney quality has deteriorated in recent years - but I feel he is unwilling to admit that it is due in part to Disney's current obsession with politics in their parks, media, company structure, and mission.
