I'm autistic and have developed several disorders due to trauma. This does not contribute to bigotry at all. I hate it when people try to use this as an excuse. It doesn't even explain anything. It's completely separate to bigoted actions. It might mean that you express those bigoted thoughts in weird ways (such as expressing it in company that would not respond well to such comments) but it does not affect you having those beliefs in any way. All neurodiverse and traumatised people can be assholes, as much as they can be wonderful people. Neither of which is caused by their neurodivergency

Brent Morgan is another Disney cover artist with abuse allegations. whenever I hear his acoustic covers of Disney songs that go viral on TikTok I have to scroll past, it’s a bummer his music is so widely used and yet not a lot of people know about this. there’s one big one he has that gets used a lot that’s a transition of This Is What Dreams are Made Of (you know, Lizzie McGuire movie, hey now hey now) starting with the original song “now everything’s technicolor” and then goes into his acoustic cover. He also does acoustic covers of Kiss The Girl that I hear a lot on my FYP given that I’m a super fan of The Little Mermaid (also apparently he plagiarized that cover? which is weird bc it’s a cover like how lazy do you have to be to use someone else’s style and chords and modifications of the existing melody and changing the key to the same different key that wasn’t the original key 🤦). I try to leave comments on videos using that sound so people know, I’d say around 99% of people using it have no clue and just picked it bc it was a trend and sounded nice. I feel bad having to be the bearer of that news on those videos since they’re usually like announcement posts or Disney vacation posts so I don’t really comment that often and will just skip the video entirely.

I was never a huge fan of pogo and I didn't find his stuff in the early KZbin days, but I heard a lot of it on Tumblr in the early 2010s and can probably say he was an influence on me as an aspiring edm producer back then. As a member of the lgbt community though, saying I was extremely disappointed with the kind of person he would turn out to be would be an understatement. Never a fun subject, but in light of his work making the rounds on tiktok it's probably important to remind people of the kind of person he is. I've also been in similar communities where enough time has passed that people are now fans of artists who were once disowned by the community for things like sexual assault, and while it's exhausting to discuss things like that it's important for people to know the full story there. I gotta laugh about him idolizing ben shapiro and saying he wants to be just like him. Oh, you're just like him alright, pogo. We played Pogo at our Pride Parade (Dublin) for our float years and years ago. The thing I find very funny about the whole situation is that in most other cases, I think his career would still survive, but he wildly underestimated how gay his audience was. Since his "the pulse shooting was good tho" video, all I've heard about him from other gays was "I used to listen to him but then...". He shot himself in the foot and then decided to keep shooting the same foot to make it better. I legitimately wouldn't be surprised if the guy was ultra closeted and that's not because of the whole "he hates gays cause he is gay" thing. The gaydar just goes wild, you know.

Probably yeah, Kanye's anti-semitism is literally because Pete "The Plower" Davidson made his ex-wife climax more often, he had this paranoia that jews (his psychiatrist included) were out to get him or hurt him or take "what was his". You know, I remember during the time of early Internet. it was common for people to say things that were controversial as a joke. I don't know why but no one ever questioned it. And it was just accepted when teenagers or even adults would say "you're a f*g" or "What are you R***rded?" as an insult. And I've noticed these same Alt right people still act like that, like their stuck in time 20 years ago. Not wanting to grow up and realize that other people exist besides them. I remember a particular ex-friend of mine during the 2010s would call me "lesbian chick" as a derogatory insult Insteed of my name. Just because I was bisexual, so I got tired of it and got revenge. I kissed his girlfriend in front of him and convinced her to dump him for me. He never did recover from it.

If this dissolves into an argument in the comment thread, I'm just scrapping this comment, but- There's just too much to love by LGBTQ+ creators and allies for me to try and justify separating art and artist and 'death of the artist', especially when it's so blatant. It's just not worth it for me. It's ultimately up to each person to choose if they want to do the same, and I hope they do, but there's just so much gay and queer joy out there to waste time upholding and defending bigotry Bonus: what a coincidence this is second video in a row I've watched mentioning the old diagnosis of 'Asp*rger's', since outdated for simply 'Autism Spectrum Disorder' because the guy it was named after was a real, full-blown N*zi collaborator. Yayyy. Was diagnosed this myself so recall when it was changed

Saying that there's a 'lot to love' about LGBTQ and allied creators already shows a bias. It sounds like you're trying to giddy giddy LGBTQ people to get brownie points. Almost all of the music i listen to is from pedophilic or homophobic creators and I am not either of those things. It's not like they're earning too much money anyway, because there are LITERALLY 2 MILLION OTHER PEOPLE LISTENING TO THEM EVERYDAY. I don't think my couple of views is gonna change anything, and as long as it isn't too obvious, people are going to be listening to them until new technology appears.

Sometimes (esp on platforms that reuse/repost content like tiktok) the origin of a piece can get totally forgotten or lost. Which, is a problem in of it self for sure, but maybe that has a little to do with it ... Regardless, I do agree that we forget pretty quickly... a lot of companies and influencial individuals seem to purposefully take advantage of it, making a response and then laying low until public attention and outrage lowers, then continuing with business as usual when most are no longer emotionally invested or really aware of what's going on currently. The more time goes by, the more people who don't know about the incident will increase as well.... It makes me mad when companies or individuals 'tone down' their problems enough to be presentable (i.e less visibly immoral or problematic) but not enough that you could say they actually recognized what they did was wrong, or, more importantly to me, that they were willing to do the right thing or change anything that might affect their profit margins or support base... just enough that the more hidden problems or systems are less offensive.. and that you get told 'well, they stopped doing X' when you express continued criticism or not wanting to support them.

Until now I was completely unaware of any of this - I thought Pogo was just "that guy that makes those movie remixes." This is definitely a good breakdown of the whole situation. I will say though, as well as you towed the line and being fair, I personally don't think it was deserved in this case. He used direct and blatant language in his bigotry, used every excuse in the book to try and save face (being mentally ill, bicurious, or living in a podunk town that casually uses slurs doesn't excuse or justify any of his behavior - I myself m all three of those things myself while being openly gay. Context is not a get-out-of-jail-free card), and has rubbed elbows with and respects and aspires to be like a bunch of dangerous far right pundits. @@rmj8905 It's an old as fock post, but I have to express something much more then that repetition now... It doesn't even need to be complete rando's... As some mere example, here is a small anecdote: I thought that I knew my father, someone who LONG stuck with you, believed to trust through all of their imperfections, had good intentions, heck at one point they thought he was truly a "nice guy" as he says (you already know where this is going)... Who turned out to be a manipulative scum at the end, a borderline sociopath, and an overall horrid virus of an influence under the deeper lens... One that I am still trying to get back up fully, as I realized he left me stagnant in potentials to better his ends then initially precented... People like him? Get WAY TOO LUCKY or WAY TOO PERSUASIVE to baffling extents, that you'd think there is some supernatural BS at play, but really want to give them the actual facts straight that one day it's not worth thinking that way... Cuz if it's something else that I have further learned and need to keep in mind no matter what is this: *Do not push your luck too much (said father ended up scramming, later broke or... worse... Unless character development sets in for him, it's too late and in way too deep now... Should have not been too smug hm?)* They say never meet your hero's every god damn time... Might as well not even exist at this point. People are generally assholes sure, I can be an imperfect asshole at times much like anyone can be... Just not to this sheerly awful extent. The point being that it's been happening more and more so anomalously in a very bad way, even to those closest to you, I am glad that I am not the only one who starts noticing such a Reverse Flashing anomaly XD.

This information upsets me. Pogo's work has inspired me so much, if you can't tell by my own username. I adore the musical style of his work. I even have an original character based on his logo, a rabbit with his distinct colors. I am disgusted and mortified by his beliefs, although it's very fitting that Disney worked with them given their track record. It's ironic that his logo is the upside-down color scheme of the pansexual flag when he's so biggoted. I'm glad that his musical style has been reclaimed/reduced to a genre; it really is fantastic and shouldn't be purely associated with Pogo.

None of this is mutually exclusive. I love the music, but disagree with his views and how he goes about them.

It's sad to hear about this, it sucks that someone so talented that created whimsical music from Disney clips is a horrible person, he was not convincing at all that his old name was just something edgy and immature when he was a teenager, full blown homophobe 😔

The fact that in his first video he could have easily said that he used to be homophobic and by the time he wasn't his whole brand was attached to his internet name. On top of that if you make a living through the internet and spreads into irl, you need to learn self control and keep your opinions to yourself especially if it's solely to get edgy points.

Pogo rules, making some of the best music/videos of modern times - I don't believe the man has any hate towards homosexuals or gender dysphoric folks, I also don't believe he's a misogynist. He clearly has some right wing views but that is not a crime - he is probably dissillusioned with the state of Western society trying to bend the laws of nature to fit a narrative that suits someone's political ideology - identity politics is a total mess. I personally LOVE contrarian viewpoints because they challenge the hive mind, doesn't mean I agree with them, I just utterly HATE dogma.

If you watch his interview with Steven Crowder in full, it shows exactly what you're saying. At the very end Pogo even says he doesn't consider himself far-right but either centre-right or more staunchly right (In Australian standards). I do not excuse what he's done but I do think there is a level of deep misunderstanding and misconstrue of what Pogo was trying to say, if you take it all at face value. I don't believe he was using bipolar and autism to excuse bigotry but that his intent to upset people was to use extreme rhetoric but lacking social and verbal cues to convey the joke. Almost too deadpan. Text based blogs do not help convey jokes either. As he said with his diagnoses (even saying his empathy is "muddled"), it's possible the social nuances and emotional expression to convey a joke/satire was not there so it came across as more serious than it likely intended. He expresses criticisms towards modern feminism in the interview but not necessarily his views on women, from what I remember at least. What's ironic is if the scenario I expressed is truly the case, it only served to validate Pogo's point (not the homophobic and extreme stuff). Best case scenario if this was the case; Pogo did a stupid and it heavily backfired on him and his career prospects from a poorly executed extreme joke (of which the f*tron video was never meant to be public and was done as a joke among friends I think from what was said long ago) and he doesn't actually hold such extreme hatred, misogynist, homophobic values. All that's left is a guy with differing political opinions and health issues contributing to these issues.

To be honest Pogo, I do agree with you. The culture and sarcasm of today is nothing compared to the 1990s and 2000s, something that some millennials and early Gen Zs take for granted. But at the same time, in my opinion, the LGBTQ+ law on June 24th, 2015 was the biggest mistake the obama administration has ever done. And look what has happened to the group, they are doing WAAAY too much influence and acting like gods in multitude of different countries, despite that they are humans just like us. All I ask the LGBTQ+ community to do is stop shoving sexuality and your viewpoints down our throats. I can understand why African American month in February is important, but not Pride month (what a joke that one is every june. Turning a month that used to be about the last day of school and summer vacation, now turned into a month full of sexual deviant stuff from the LGBTQ+ side of things). To be honest Pogo, at this point you might end up being an outcast from society, and believe me, if I was near you I wouldn't mind bringing you on board, despite the criticism from other people, I would just say to them "People it's business, at the end of the day as long as he can make money from it and move on, then that's fine. But all of you take them way too seriously and it was a dark joke at the end of the day. As long as he's not physically harming you, you should not worry too much about what he says at the end of the day." Again, if he does gay shit to me, sorry, then I'd tell him you have three chances and that's it. Blow them all at once or over the years, and you're done working with me. But that's just me. Pogo, you're still one of the favorites I came across from another channel, and yoru plunderphonics will still be referenced and used to this very day.

"I can understand why African American month in February is important but not Pride Month" Why? And you know assexuals exist as well, don't you? Romance and sense of self is not always about sexuality, that's also what Pride month is about. That people like you (talking to people who see themselves in Pride Month) exist and existed with an history often washed aside the same way african american history of that month is and is all about saying "we exist, we existed and we're proud of it, we're part of the picture even if many people don't want that and want us silenced and pushed aside instead". Why is the normal thing of saying you exist and that you're just as normal as anyone else with the same desires for recognition, normality, humanity and love (including marriage, are you against marriage or what) as anyone else "shoving it in people's throats" and "having too much influence like gods"? It's not the case in your views if it's a black person that does the same thing for his identity isn't it? Especially since many want to whitewash that history now, making people to deffiantly speak up more, right? Why is this any different here, it's the same thing. Isn't that kinda of a double-standard? You're not the best person you could be, you know?

@@Game_Hero I know that asexuals exist, but the thing with me is that I can't think of anything the LGBTQ+ had any impact on society or any kind of change in their lives. African Americans/Africans in general did a ton of protesting, boycotts, and strikes because they were tired of segregation and wanted Civil Rights and bea part of the other non-black citizens in the 1950s and 1960s. For LGBTQ+ though, it was all about gender and gay marriage, I don't see any semblance of a society having to use tumblr terminology and having to use two pronouns to refer to that person. It should just be male, female, or other/Not applicable. But that's just me. The reason I mentioned shoving it down our throats was because of the mainstream media praising it like as if it's the only important thing we should care about in june, despite massive anti-LGBTQ protests saying we should have pride assemblies to children 12 and under. And that LGBTQ+ is not as important as Math, Science, Social Studies, and History. That's where I was coming from. Yes, I admit I'm stupid in many ways, but I have something to say as well even if it means getting beaten up by others who don't like what I say about LGBTQ+ groups, calling me tons of phobic/tumblr terms and such. So what? I'm heterosexual, I'm proud to be one. But I don't want to associate my gender with LGBTQ+, it doesn't feel right at all. So that's my two cents to you.
