Ik ppl are freaked out by Sebastian but I think he looks fine. I think it just makes more sense for him to look real if they are going for live action but they did find a balance, which I like. And I think Halle Bailey singing and Lin Manuel Miranda’s songs will save this movie from the less than spectacular VFX.

Exactly, the critters don't outweigh the lead. I think the realistic approach makes sense especially with the live action Aladdin where I didn't even think Raja was gonna be in the film. So I'm glad they're in the film at all. And Skuttle being female is a fresh take. I just hope Sebastian sings more than raps and that the Sam Wright is respected...

I think he looks cute! In the cartoon, Sebastian had a human-like face. If folks don't like this, think of how creepy a human-like face would have been on a crab. They'd have been like, "Is he mutated?" 😅 I think Flounder looks fine too. Scuttle looks great, imo.

This trailer was phenomenal, it gave me so much hope for this movie. The only thing I’m not totally sold on is Melissa Mcarthy, I think they missed a chance to do something a little more high fantasy like Will said! I also love the notion that Ariel being darker skin makes more sense given all the Caribbean influence on the music. I love the subtle ginger hair and that TAIL. Also the pink head scarf is very reminiscent of the pink dress she wears in the original. I can’t wait to see this film!!! Disney live action has been hit or miss and I hope this is a hit!

Emma Watson was not belle she was herself playing hermione playing belle and it just wasn’t right . Emmy Rossum playing Christine in phantom of the opera ,Anne Hathaway ,Natalie Portman all could have done the role justice if they had made the film in 2012 or abit earlier . Who they could have picked now I don’t know but Emma wasn’t it and I feel she only got the role through playing hermione granger . This beautiful amazing actress is everything !! After seeing what I’ve seen I couldn’t imagine anyone else in the role . She is Ariel ! She’s captured her innocence yet coming of age “I’m 16 I’m not a child anymore !!!” I’m excited to see who plays Vanessa if they are even doing it as I’ve seen nothing about it . I do believe this will be the best live action since cinderella in 2015 I’m super excited and when I saw Eric I felt like Ariel did he’s perfect so yeah I’m excited

I was incredibly impressed with this movie. The actor that plays the prince is definitely a major heartthrob shame. All the pictures I found of him on Twitter he doesn’t really have hair. It’s completely shaved, but his first name is Jonah.❤ so cute, he just looks fatter with hair 😂 and the man can sing, I love that he has a song in this movie… This one is better than the Disney animation movie in my opinion, I just can’t get over the fact that Ariel was so stupid in the original, I mean, she just seemed like an airhead… I don’t mind the lower contrast and lack of animation. The under the sea ecosystem is just beautiful, considering how it was a complete re-creation done with CGI that alone is amazing. The only things I don’t like about it is the way that they did her family. The diversity of her sisters is not very believable and not a big fan of the actor they chose to play her father.

The test screenings for the little mermaid have been fantastic and both mario bros and the little mermaid are going to be among the first and second billion dollar blockbusters of 2023. Just a bit worried about the animal characters in this. People in my screening were laughing at Modok when I saw Quantumania because of how ridiculous and stupid he was looking. Hope Sebastian and flounder work.

Realism generally means the attempt to represent a subject matter truthfully, without artificiality and avoiding speculative or supernatural elements. Given that we're dealing with a fair amount of fantastical elements with this story, I wish the production had taken a more abstract or elevated approach with some of the visuals e.g. a more elaborative coral or whimsical depiction of the marine life.

Hallie can sing well and Ariel's tail is pretty BUT her acting is... ok. She had a good reaction to Triton but not much emotion in her voice. It's fine, not amazing but not awful either. Flounder looks so boring in this '' realistic '' 3D. If he was cartoony, like Sonic in his live-action movies, i would find him cute and charming. Here, he's a real fish with no emotions. This character is so small, i can barely see him even if the movie is brigther than before. That's not fun 😐 I will give a chance to this movie, i won't pay to watch it but will try to enjoy it for more than twenty minutes. I won't fall asleep unlike with the Lion King remake. It was so boring that i yawned after ten minutes then, no joke, was almost sleeping. Not sure it will happen with this one, it's reassuring!

Can’t please everyone. If they made Flounder like Sonic then people would still be in an uproar. I dig the realistic approach. It’s an equal balance of animation and realism. Replay the trailer and you can see he was smiling while swimming up with Ariel and then his eyes widened when Triton started speaking. Makes it clear that these animal characters will in fact, emote.
