Disney needs to let the muppeteers have a say in how the characters are portrayed. They know the characters bette than anybody that could ever write for them. That’s a big issue rn

absolutely, it's far too noticeable that the freedom they have with their characters that they know better than anybody has been far too limited recently

I actually quite enjoyed the “Office/Parks & Rec”-style show. The writing was pretty good and it had lots of good jokes. It was the newer one that’s on Disney+ that is unwatchable, for me. Kermit’s voice without Steve Whitmore is just wrong and it feels like it’s trying way too hard. Here’s hoping that Haunted Mansion has something of the old-school Muppets about it, though they’ll need a new Kermit voice actor to pull it off. FWIW I also found Muppets Most Wanted really funny with a great celeb cast. Oh, and you forgot to mention Muppets From Space, which was a quiet classic no one talks about for some reason. Great video though!

Hey! Thanks for watching. I agree, I really enjoyed the Muppets ABC series as well, especially by the end of the show. I revisit it pretty often myself. I definitely agree with you on Matt Vogel's Kermit, I didn't want to rant on him in the video as I'm sure he's doing his best but I really am not a fan of his Kermit. For me Steve will always be the best post Henson. I'm hoping Haunted Mansion is good as well but as of right now we don't know too much about it so it's kinda a wait and see haha. And yes! I didn't put up a pic of Muppets From Space but I like it a lot as well! I appreciate your thoughts!! :)

I personally love muppets most wanted. It is SOO MUPPETS! it is fun and chaotic like the muppets HAVE TO BE. also the abc show is incredibly underrated in my opinion

loved this !!! im binge watching muppet video essays and ironically all the ones i just watched started off with a good minute long monologue explaining why the muppets mean sm to them and your intro getting straight to the point, claiming that if yours a person you already know why the muppets are great, was such a funny contrast, in general this whole video had such a great sense of humor and editing!!! such high quality, i wishhh this got more views bc its genuinely also a rlly good look in the mishandling of these characters. i think you nailed the biggest issues with the treatment of the muppets as it stands now, theyre used cheaply for nostalgia points rather than actual projects which is very disheartening to see considering their whole ethos is creativity and passion and love!!! the look into the individual projects is smthn i majorly agree with too, the muppet movie with jason segel was definitely spawned out of love and that same love isn’t extended or seen as evidently in future projects, and the projects begin to become more and more hollow as the years go by. i mean i can enjoy some of the newer projects but there is definitely a new sense of plasticity to it now. and its insane to me bc these characters are icons theyre beloved, in any appearance people adore them!! so why arent they being properly utilized!!!! (i mean we know why as you cover it in the video too, disney isnt willing to put in the time effort and soul unfortunately) sorry, this is probably a super long comment at this point on a year old video but it was genuinely really engaging!!! couldn’t help but ramble about it, again amazing video and hilarious editing, seriously dude i cant get enough of it

Great compilation of thoughts, many of which I share! When the ABC series was announced I was so excited to see a behind-the-scenes, og series reminiscent show. While watching it I didn't get the lighthearted whimsy of the muppets at all and I couldn't figure out why, but you explain it excellently. I hate that Disney feels the need to modernize everything, even Mickey himself is a victim, imo (the horrible shorts they play all over the Disney channels now). For crying out loud, Mrs. Piggy looks like she's gotten about 14 rounds of plastic surgery and is more of a total jerk than the strong independent type she used to be. I won't even mention the disney+ show because I hated it so much. I'm hoping that Disney releasing the entire og series was not the final big hurrah for muppet fans. Hopeful for many years of movies, shows, cameos, and laughs with all of my bffs!!
