I received this in the mail today and wasn't expecting it. Disney sent it to us regarding our upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. I thought it came early, but it's ok. The video covers the unboxing so to speak of the Disney My Magic Plus + and My Disney Experience tools and what you can expect and do to prepare for your magical vacation or holiday to WDW. I literally just booked my vacation 2 hours ago after watching this video yesterday. My wife an I have been toying with the idea of taking the kids this summer. We've been watching videos like crazy. Yours was the last one then I booked it. Cant wait until my kids see the bands! Our trip isn't until the summer which is months away but we're super excited!

I would also recommend getting the my disney experience app! Super helpful in planning your trip! My daughter loves to get on and see what there is to explore at disney world! You can make reservations for restaurants and select fast pass + options :) have fun in May!

They def do NOT send thumb drives out as far as I know anymore! We got our 4 bands and a website link to what was on his thumb drive :) Same packaging but we got our 4 bands in it with our names and color choices! Very Cool

Yes, thanks. Since this video, I have taken another WDW trip and only received Magic Bands as well with the link and no more thumb drive. Besides myself getting the thumb drive last year....I have only heard of 1 other person getting a thumb drive. Not sure how or why Disney decided to send them and to who. You have up to 30 days before your trip to order you magic bands if you want to customize them.. As in pick out what color you want. We are going in a couple weeks! You can order them anytime before then. You can buy your tickets, link them to your magic bands and start making you fast pass selections early too! :)

I got a similar package but it didn't come with the flash drive. The card inside with the picture of Edna has a link that takes you to the same video on the My Disney Experience website. I received this randomly for my upcoming Disney trip in May, but I only received it a few days ago. Kinda jealous about that flash drive!

Hi Mag. I think you will receive them. I believe at this point nearly everyone is. We went in Oct 13' too and got them then, and are also getting them for May this year. At first, I was reluctant about it, but on the Oct 13' trip everything for us worked just great and very convenient.

Is the band a like a pass or a ticket or is it like a digital organizer and can we order one to customize it because I will be staying in a resort but don't know and how would you buy things do you reload money at a stand and

Its everything you need for your stay to be convenient. If you have a valid park ticket, you use the band to get inside the park. If you're staying at a Disney hotel, you'll use the band to get inside your room. Finally, if you link it with your credit card, you can buy stuff in the park. Watch some more videos, they'll explain it in more detail. :)

You will get them prior to leaving for your trip so you should have plenty of time to prepare your trip before you even get there. :o) Have a great trip.

I'm going next month... Was I suppost to make a reservation a few months back like you did? Because my family would really enjoy that and they'd be very disappointed if they didn't have this "power" as Disney called it.

You'd need to book ASAP if you're staying on property. That will open up your window for Fastpass reservations, which you'd be able to do the moment you confirm a room reservation. You can do it last minute, but your options will be far more limited (some rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will have their Fatpasses booked out weeks in advance). They'll send your bands out about a week or two before you actually go. If you book too late for that, you can pick them up on property.

We went in October and got the magic bands from Polynesian, they only,gave you 3 fast pass selections per day but wasn't bad because they had the paper system. Paper is now gone, they were supposed to increase the fast pass plus selections per day but I'm hearing it's still only 3. Is that what they gave you for May? We are getting ready to plan another trip but are having reservations about the possibility of spending a lot more time in line...

I'm going to making selections for fastpasses in a few days with My Disney Experiance (not at the 2 month mark yet for our April trip!) so I can let you know if it's still limited to three. Also, in Epcot and Hollywood Studios I know they changed it a bit by having two tiers. Meaning Tier A will have certain rides while Teir B will have some other rides. Hopefully that'll change in a few months, I don't really like that at all. But people I talk to say it's because Hollywood and Epcot don't have as many thrill tickets rides as Magic and Animal (I say BS for that but).... pretty much... I'll let you know.

rumor is they are going to charge extra if you want more fast passes. The new system cost 2 billion which is more then the cost to build Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios combined. So they are in a scramble to find ways to make the money back.

I made fastpass+ selections about a week ago. They are still limited to three for each park and Hollywood and Epcot have the tier system. And there wasn't an option to pay extra if you want more fastpasses. (not yet anyways)

MoonLitCat wow that sounds horrible. I read that the fast pass system crashed in Hollywood Studios last week which shut down Toy Story Midway mania and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror for almost the whole day.

BeyondMain Street Shoot! But wait, if the entrance gates are hooked up with MM+ scanners instead of where passes are usually swiped, how is that possible? I'm not sure if you know this, but MagicBands work in Disney Infinity as well.

You can hold up your passes to the same MB scanner. We saw tons of people doing that.

Haven't been back to the parks since Oct last year. At that time the fast passes still worked like before. Good question. As of today, I don't know. My next trip is in May...so I'll know more then....although that is still months away. :(

BeyondMain Street I was there last month, and no, the paper fast passes are completely gone. It's a definite readjustment if you're used to the old system. There are still a lot of kinks to work out. The mobile app was getting completely overwhelmed and was pretty much unusable most of the time. At Epcot it wouldn't let us get a fastpass for both Soarin' and Fast Track because it's a tier system...so we ended up just getting the other two for Imagination and Spaceship Earth...which...you know...you don't even need them for. It's also definitely designed with people getting packages in mind. I was going two days with two friends that live in Florida and have annual passes, so we were only spending one night at the hotel. Not realizing, I just bought my ticket AT the park and realized that before we'd checked into the hotel, we couldn't get bands, so we were stuck with no fast passes at all at the Magic Kingdom. I should also mention that the "friending" on the My Disney app is needlessly complicated and confusing. It's Disney so I have no doubts that they will work it out, but for now it's sorta shaky.

Hi. When you book your WDW (walt disney world) vacation, Disney will send them to you. Then you can link them to your vacation and park tickets. A bit of a headache...but kinda cool.

Obviously not. You can't use something from Disney World for Universal. And yes, you have to buy it, but if you're staying at a Disney Hotel you get them for free I guess.

green pink grey yellow blue red orange. if you plan through disney and stay at a disney resort--you'll probably get these. if you stay off property--you might not get them....but you can buy yhem in the parks right now for liek $13.00ish.

If you're staying on property, they'll ship your band(s) out to you about 10 days before your trip. If you're staying off property (i.e. not in a Disney-owned/operated resort) and you want a band, you have to buy one on your own either online or on property (Disney Store has them available online).

No. If you're not staying on property, you'll receive an RFID enabled card that will act like a band for admission, Fastpass access, photos, et al. It functions identically to a band in the aforementioned circumstances. However, the cards can't be picked up by long range readers, which limits their functionality for things that depend more heavily on them (e.g. Be Our Guest triangulating your position and order).
