No, this performance was even before newsies opened on Broadway. After review this was September of 2011, and after he finished newsies at paper mill, he went and did Bonnie and Clyde. After it closed he went and reprised his role in newsies on Broadway. Corey doesn't come in for almost a year

For anyone from the movie fandom complaining, a lot if the original characters are still around (Crutchie, Racetrack, Delancey Brothers, Davey and Les) and added ones (Romeo, Albert, Buttons, Elmer, Finch) and it's just as lovable as the movie! If not that, than maybe even more lovable. And the changed lyrics you just gotta get used to, but I definitely know that if you liked the movie you'll like this. Give it a chance.

Mia, I was one of those people. I saw it at the Papermill and that was my gripe...then I skipped seeing it on Broadway and just today I decided to buy the recorded Broadway version it off amazon...wow..I am so hooked.....I've watched the whole thing twice now. I love some of the things they added and the new songs, especially the one for Crutchie in the refuge. I'll always have a strong point for the movie version but I really appreciate everything with this "new" version as well. Seize the Day! -Buttahfingah Maddy ;)

Oh, gosh. I'm going back to this after all this time obsessing over Newsies and tears are in my eyes. This was my first exposure to the Broadway cast and I remember sitting there with crazy chills thinking "These guys are so talented," "Whoa who's that dude spinning like a boss," "New Jack Kelly has an awesome voice," and on and on. And now that I've come to love every one of these boys, seeing how far they've come is just overwhelming. I'm so proud of them. Especially Jeremy, I'll miss him ;__;

Guys, don't complain about the different lyrics; it happens with composers. Jack Feldman wrote them a long time ago, and his tastes have probably changed and he wanted to rewrite them to reflect how he now writes. No big deal.

Yes it is a little annoying with the new lyrics but I think it has a lot to do with how we're all so familiar with the original. The new lyrics aren't bad, they kind of grow on you.
