Disney's Vero Beach Resort Check In Day! | 3 Bedroom Beachside Cottage Tour + Dinner At Wind & Waves

In today’s vlog we head to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort to check in for a little beach vacation! We start with the scenic drive out to Florida’s Atlantic Treasure Coast, it’s about a 2 hour drive southeast of Walt Disney World. Then we check in and give you our detailed tour of the beachside cottage, we stayed in the 1550 Hawksbill Cottage. Then we get Jackson ready for bed and we get some dinner from the Wind & Waves Grill to go and we eat it on our Sunrise deck. This was a great first day, check in was at 4pm so we didn’t have time to do too much outside of the tour but tomorrow we have a full pool and beach day, so be sure to tune in! The living space on the second floor is called reverse living and it’s done so you get the best water views from your living space.

It’s also if you have a flood from the beach all the major appliances and living area or not damaged.

Reverse Living has a lot of benefits - heat from the kitchen is released directly to the roof instead of heating the rooms which then have to be cooled - sound carries upward, this allows bedrooms to be quiet while others use the living space especially for large families in a vacation space - can enjoy views and breezes and cool the living space easier instead of giving those benefits to the bedrooms - for security you only have to secure windows in a home and someone wanting to break in cannot tell what is held in the living space that is worth stealing or if the living space is being used A lot of the new town homes in my area are being built with this reverse living plan concept in Texas

i like the scale so you can weigh yourself and the bag to make sure your bag is not overweight for extra costs edit: for flyers after souvenirs that is a good hack

That’s one of the reasons I think! They apparently updated the code so that it makes it safer in case someone touches it, it’s less likely to cause a shock, a spark, or a fire because it’s less likely to complete the circuit :)

Switches with the ground on top are also considered safer, because if the plug wiggles loose and there is something wet or metal that falls on top of it is going to contact the ground instead of the ‘hot’ prongs.

Vero is my DVC home resort! When you are in the front desk, main lobby area, look at the floor again. There are subtle grooves in the floor that are meant to look like turtle tracks.

Thank you so much for wondering if any of the cottages are accessible, Jenn - as somebody who has become increasingly mobility-challenged over the years, I sincerely appreciate you mentioning that. Because - I was wryly laughing, looking at Jackson having trouble get up those steps "That's what I would look like, and I need to hold onto a handrail, 'cause I don't have a mommy". :) So glad you guys are getting to stay here. I have seen the property from the front parking lots, and seen vlogs, and it looks extremely relaxing, and tons of activities - just like Hilton Head. Love the rocking chairs, real orchid in the bedroom, double balconies for sun rise/set viewing (how cool is that?) and the water carafes on the bedside tables, and bedroom ceiling fans (prefer those when I'm sleeping, if cool enough for no AC) Sea turtle toilet paper is nice, but i wouldn't want to use it, if ya know what I mean, too cute for that!! First time I ever saw one of those "bathtub clotheslines" was at OKW, in '93, and neither I, nor any of my friends, could figure out what the HECK it was - we were pushing it, etc, but never figured out how to pull it out! :) :) Your place in Vero kind of reminds me of OKW - with lush gardens, pathways, and all the wonderful space in the unit!! Also LOVE all the different k-cups they supply!! What a SPECTACULAR ocean view - LOVE it!!!! I agree Tim, I could spend LOTS of time out there!! After being forced to iron EVERYTING in the household growing up, and a LOT of stuff when I was in the Navy, I don't iron ANYTHING, EGVER> I buy wash and wear - if I wash it, and they lied, and it has to be ironed, I give it away! Facts! :) How totally cool about signing/leaving the shell in the jar - LOVE that!! Socially distanced hugs from New Jersey to the 3 of you! Stay strong, stay positive, stay healthy!!

I loved the fun fact Tim gave about no porch lights on the homes because the sea turtles need to look for the moon when they hatch. Very interesting!! I wish I could stay there and sit on the porch and watch the sunrise. When I lived in Naples, I wish I spent more time admiring the beautiful Florida beaches. Thanks for the great vid!

my late mother-in-law had a house in Anna Maria Island called the Seagrape Cottage, right on Gulf Drive across from the beach. She used to take seagrapes and make jelly out of them.

OMG THIS BEACH RESORT IS GORGEOUS!!! WOW!!! I love the setup and space!!! And that leaf was like the size of Jackson's face haha he is so cute!!! And omg I love the seashell Idea that is so cute!!! And part of the meatball fell out of Jackson's mouth! But the food looked really good!!! And THAT VIEW IS BEAUTIFUL!!! Me and Tim said it at the same time haha but it is omg!!! Typically when an outlet is switched (light switch), it will be mounted upside down to indicate which on it is.

Correct...upside down outlet means that it is turned on and off by a light switch somewhere on the wall.

This the common practice for outlets in commercial installations. It is the best practice done for safety. If something falls on to the two prongs (hot and neutral) it could cause an electrical fire. I have seen this with a dime falling off a dresser to a plug that was not pushed in all the way. But if the ground is up it will hit the ground and trip the breaker or just fall off.
