He didn't personally go searching for her, it was the Grand duke, that was charged with finding Cinderella. The king sent him to find the girl, after the prince stated he would marry no one except her. The Grand Duke may not have had a good look at her; plus; at the ball, Cinderella stood out with her unique dress and refined appearance; even though every eligible maiden was to attend, he wasn't looking for a Scullery Maid.

This was an interesting theory, but I have another. I think the glass slippers actually belonged to Cinderella's mother and were a gift to Cinderella. I think that the fairy godmother was very close to Cinderella's mother and there is some evidence of this within the films. The best evidence is found in the song "A dream is a wish your heart makes." This is more than just a lovely song, I think it was taught to Cinderella by her mother as a way to maintain a good heart as the fairy godmother could only be summoned by someone who believed. How do I know this? After Cinderella's mother's dress was destroyed and she goes and cries, in that scene you hear the lyrics of the song being sung by unseen people. This is not ambient sounds because as the lyrics are going Cinderella RESPONDS to them. She states "I can't believe anymore" it is at this moment that the fairy godmother appears and says "If you had lost all of your faith then I wouldn't be here, yet here I am." This song was a way to summon the FGM in a moment when "her heart was grieving" as is stated in the song The strongest evidence is actually after this moment when Cinderella notices she has appeared, she is not shocked, or scared, or even surprised she simply talks to the FGM casually without question. Then when the FGM asks herself "what did I do with that magic wand?" Cinderella says "Magic wand? then you must be...." to which she responds "That's right I am your Fairy godmother" This is proof that Cinderella knew she had a FGM though she may not have ever met her before. It's my theory that at some point the FGM crafted those shoes for Cinderella's mother maybe as a wedding gift, to which Cinderella's mother requested they be given to her daughter upon her passing. This could also explain why they fit, but still fall off because they are not her shoes but her mothers shoes, yet also why no one else could fit them. In the Live action there is some proof of this as well as the FGM speaks of Cinderella's mother casually when deciding the dress. "I don't think she would mind a change of color," and repeating the quote "we must be brave and kind." Cinderella's mother even talked about fairy godmothers to Cinderella when she was a child and their existence to those who have a kind heart. When the FGM says "I am rather good at making shoes," I think this was a way of saying she had done it before probably for Cinderella's mother. That's my theory as to where they came from, and why they don't disappear, because they are Cinderella's inheritance from her deceased mother.

I think the reason the glass slippers stuck around after midnight was because of the love between Cinderella and Prince Charming. Remember, the Fairy Godmother was summoned by Cinderella so she could go to the ball, not fall in love with the heir to the kingdom's throne. I think the Fairy Godmother decided to alter the spell since, after all the horrible things Cinderella had been through, she deserves a happily ever after. But she wanted to test the prince, to see if his love was true. So, she gave him a clue and little information about his mystery lover, and he was determined enough to find Cinderella. Insert happy ending here, the end.

He Man , Well, kind of. Keep in mind that love in classic fairytales is weirdly described. Plus, the Fairy Godmother made Cinderella unrecognizable (a ball gown is a big change from rags so she look really diffferent and it was probably part of FGM's spell) so it wasn't just the Prince who didn't remember what his love looked like, but THE WHOLE KINGDOM, with the exception of Cinderella's step-mother since she is the main antagonist and it's her job in the story to make good old Cindy's life miserible. Although, He Man, you made a very good point. I didn't spot that at first.

If it's only meant to fit Cinderella, then it likely means that any girl with the same shoe size as her would be "rejected" by the shoe. Think of it like the one ring in Lord of the Rings. I recall the ring has it's own will and capable of shrinking or growing. The same might go with the glass slipper. That is probably why all the girls in the kingdom who tried on the shoe could not fit it at all. It's only for Cinderella and the fact that it was created from magic makes it highly possible that it's not a normal slipper.

My theory is that it's because the glass slippers weren't made from anything. Just pure magic. Her new dress was made from tatters, a pumpkin into a carriage, and mice into horses. She was barefoot. The glass slippers appeared. It was pure magic. There was nothing for it to turn back into.

Before I actually watch the video, I just wanted to say I think the slippers didn't vanish was because they weren't transformed from something into those, I think it was a gift from the fairy godmother. Cause she used the pumpkin to make a carriage, the horse and dog for the people, the mice for the horses, and the tattered dress for her ballgown, BUT in this movie she wasn't wearing anything thing on her feet, so that's why I think it's a gift. ** I WILL EDIT THIS AFTER I'VE WATCHED Edit: I didn't even think about the 2015 film. In my humble opinion as a film critic, it is one of the best Disney sequels....surpassed only by The Rescuers Down Under a couple of other worthy sequels. I will say that I'm very impressed with everything you had to say on this. You made a lot of sense of it all. Well done to you. However, I did want to point out one little cravat. There was one other time that someone else other than Cinderella managed to "wear" the glass slipper, and you almost showed it. Drizella does manage to force her foot into the glass slipper, albeit only briefly. Still, she does manage to make it fit. That also brings up another thing that I noticed and wasn't commented on. It appears that the shimmering magic just above the heart on Cinderella's glass slipper also begins if the slipper is being worn (i.e. toes in front and heel in back). When the footman is trying the slipper on Anastasia, and consequently trying to make it fit, you don't see any sign of the magic sparkles. Likewise, when he is trying to do the same with Drizella, there are no magic sparkles. However, once Drizella forces her foot into the slipper, you see the shimmering magic start, and it only stops after the slipper flies off of her foot. I just thought I'd point this out. It would have been interesting to see how you would have included that in your explanation. Still, great job.

I've always had a theory on why the slippers never disappeared. There are two slippers. One of them was with Cinderella and the other one was with the Grand Duke. Think if they both just disappeared. Then the duke might know something is up and/or might go on a witch hunt for Cinderella because she could be a witch. Also the Fairy Godmother is kept in secret. While the slipper disappearing wouldn't lead to the Fairy Godmother, the magic would be exposed to the Duke and possibly the king. If that all makes sense.

Cinderella's mother was actually like half fairy or something so Cinderella had fairy feet and were ridiculously tiny. That's why her shoes wouldn't fit anyone else.

I will say that the person who portrays Lady Tremaine in the 2015 version is definitely much prettier than the character's animated counterpart in the original trilogy(even though they're both old)
