Disney World-Hall Of Presidents (Original 1971 Program)

This is a reconstruction of the original "Hall Of Presidents" program at Disney World that opened with the park in 1971 and ran through 1993 when it was overhauled (not for the better IMO).
I have taken the complete soundtrack from the souvenir LP that was released and used available artwork and stills from the multi-screen film program where possible to offer a different viewing experience from some of the camcorder versions that are also available on YT (which were taken just before the attraction closed in 1993; a couple screen caps from those home videos are used in a few instances). The final segment comes from the "Grand Opening Of Walt Disney World" special in 1971 but since that truncated things a little, some additional stills were added to allow the unedited soundtrack to be retained.
The original program represented a triumph of Disney artistry and a memorable experience to those who visited Disney World in the 70s and 80s. The program narrator is actor Lawrence Dobkin with additional voices by Royal Dano as Abraham Lincoln and Paul Frees as George Washington and Stephen Douglas.

This is absolutely the best version. Paul Frees as Washington totally nails it, and the narrator and the music are impeccable. And Royal Dano as Lincoln is absolute casting perfection.

Disneyworld opened on October 1st 1971. I was born on August 31st 1971. This version is extremely good for what they had for technology back then. It also feels more patriotic then the one today.

The original recordings for the Hall of Presidents were actually recorded under Walt Disney's supervision back in the late 1950's when it was originally intended for Liberty Street at Disneyland.

It’s amazing that, aside from Royal Dano as the voice of Lincoln (which it should still be in the exhibit), Paul Frees (the Haunted Mansion’s Ghost Host) voiced almost all the rest of the characters.

Dal McKennon as Andrew Jackson is recognizable. Dick Wesson may be the one doing the roll call of the states in the Constitutional Convention segment. Not sure if it's Lawrence Dobkin also doing Benjamin Franklin.

This is my favorite WDW attraction and I hate that the show was revamped in 1993, it didn't need a revamp aside from upgrading the outdated flickering projectors that had been in the attraction since opening. Unlike later versions, this version stays true to the transcripts and the many years years of research that Walt Disney and his team did for the unbuilt Liberty Street. Eric Foner really destroyed the show, and thankfully the current version completely eliminated the fingerprints that Foner put on the attraction in the 90s. I will say this though, at least the music for the Foner written shows was very good, but aside from that they suck.

Couldn't agree more that Foner destroyed the show. To me though, the HOP will never be back to its former glory until the original Lincoln speech with Dano's vocals is restored and IMO they should eliminate the speech by the current President because it's simply become too toxic one way or the other. The only reason why the tradition started in 1993 was because of Eisner's tight relationship with Clinton.

I think it's great that Royal Dano voiced Lincoln. He also voiced Lincoln in Disney Land's "A Conversation with Mr. Lincoln".

The audio track is slightly off. The narrator's voice was really slightly lower and the playback speed here is a smidge too fast. I have a copy of the original. But this is extremely rare to see, so. Not bad.

I didn't use the pristine CD reissue of the souvenir LP which I should have (this was an older LP transfer). If you're going by the later home videos, yes Dobkin's voice was lower when he would redo the entire roll call whenever a new president was added. He may have also re-recorded his lines leading into the Lincoln speech though the narration on the film part remained unchanged. I still keep hoping that someone has the clean isolated underscore for this version of the attraction. They used to play it in the waiting area and I would dearly love to hear it again.
