That young boy mermaid in the end! This is why this film is important. The Asian young boy in me sees himself as that mermaid. Now young boys can confidently see themselves as a mermaid too. The original film inspired me to become a diver. At age 30 I no longer have fears of the sea or the ocean. I also work for protection of coral reefs in my country. Uhhh I've seen better CGI from the Disney company, especially after Avatar 2. There are still some scenes here that are a bit rough and could've cooked longer in the editing room. Idk about Triton but he looked a bit weird, maybe because of the proportions but hopefully they fixed the under exposing while underwater.

There are many versions of the song that are changed to better fit the singer’s voices or their intentions for the character. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Before I wasn't such a fan of the little mermaid but I liked it because of Ariel. But now I feel... that my memory of seeing the animated one. And seeing the movie again in this beautiful live action... made me feel like embracing the story and its characters more. I feel almost certain that the ending will be different. In the Japanese version at Tokyo DisneySea, Ariel actually turns down Ursula's offer and decides to stay a mermaid. It's not a film, of course, and Disney didn't create the original story, so who knows how it'll end? I think it'll be interesting.

The problem with this film is legitimate. Its simply not about skin color/ race. It’s much more than that. It’s about keeping true to the original spirit of the European folklore story and the Disney animated classic. I recall how people were in an uproar when Tom Cruise was cast as Jack Reacher. Readers of the popular Lee Child novels were extremely upset that Cruise was set to play the lead character of the novels because he did not fit the character’s body type, age and height. All physical traits. Also in the 90’s people were so upset with the casting of Tom Cruises as the Vampire character Lestat from the late Anne Rice novel “ An interview with a Vampire “. Fans of the novel were upset. Most recently some people were complaining about Chris Pratt be ing cast as Mario in the upcoming Mario bro’s film because Chris is not Italian.
