Rainy days are the best at DLR. Less crowds, but still an enjoyable place to go to.

Disney World's monorail is cool but Disneyland's monorail is Miles Davis cool. The trip through Tomorrowland and Fantasy land is really awesome.

That is the filtration center, that filters the water running through the cooling towers/heat exchangers. The water is exposed to the elements during heat exchange for the HVAC cooling system.

I'm curious. Did the monorail used to have windows that opened? I noticed that the message on the loud speaker told passengers to keep their hands, etc. inside the ride/vehicle (don't remember the exact wording). It looks like those windows would always be closed, but that doesn't make sense with that announcement. Not sure of the time stamp on that, but it was on the way back from the Downtown Disney area.
@AlextheHistorian4 жыл бұрын
The safety spiel is referring to the windows in the passenger cabins. The nose cones are only loaded upon request.

@@AlextheHistorian, you're right, I was referring to the part about the windows. So, do the windows open? They look like they're always closed (but, of course, then the announcement wouldn't make sense; I thought maybe the windows in a previous model were open but now they were closed). Either way, thanks.

@@jeanneg7430 the windows in the cabins open and close. Depending on the weather, if it's cold, rainy, or both, they will shut the windows, but otherwise the windows are always kept open because the monorail doesn't have working air conditioning in the cabins. However the nose cones don't have windows, they only have windshields, and because of a lack of windows they remain air conditioned year round. The nose cones are not accessible from the monorail cabin. So guests are always confused by "keep your hands and arms inside the cabin" because when you're in the nose cones, you don't see an open window. Even the day I shot this video, the family in the cone with us laughed at the spiel and I had to explain that the cabins often have open windows.

Excellent video Alex. Made my day today! Ty Also, wondering if you could do a video about Disney opening back up after a long period of being closed. For example, your experience with rides, facilities, parades, after they've been closed for refurbishment or return after being grounded. Any thoughts on Disney is using this time to refurbish the parks. Your thoughts on bringing back cast members, etc.

i have a question. if you enter the monorail from tomorrowland and you stop at downtown disney. can you ask to stay on the monorail to go back to tomorrowland.
@AlextheHistorian4 жыл бұрын
Yes but only certain times of day. There's a window of time where from noon to 5pm the monorail isn't very busy, so they let you stay on. But during other hours, the monorail is very busy and its priority is transit.

Alex, I just watched this video again. It makes me miss the Monorail, hoping that it will return soon. Supposedly, there was some testing of the Monorail yesterday, as well as some type of maintenance vehicle going the opposite of the normal direction on the track. Hopefully this is a sign that the Monorail will be returning soon!
