Thank you for this. I’m a Disney lover who has always enjoyed the Disneyland Railroad, since I was a little kid. There was a few times I could smell the oil and exhaust.. Therapy for the soul. I’m also a Class I Railroad engineer and the whole saga of the stop inside the tunnel, putting out and reigniting the boiler flame, that was fascinating to watch and think about. I usually just consider it an amusement park attraction and never put much thought into the operations behind it.

Walt was RIGHT! A true storyteller! This is my 2nd DL ride. The tram being the 1st. I do the grand circle tour. The railroad is a true "time traveler" Long b4 Back to the Future + bf H G Wells the Time Machine movie. It goes from Victorian Age, a jungle, the old West, post Cavil War, a far away land (Battoo) cartoon environment a land of Fantasy & whim, to Tomorrow, in the past & Pre-historia. Through tunnels, past waterfalls & BEYOND imagination! Ppl said, guests would "refuse" to climb stairs & ride the train. 66 yrs LATERRRRRRRR......LOL!

There is one train with forward facing seats, it is called "Excursion 3". There are three trains with side-facing seats, they are Holiday 2, Holiday 4, and Holiday 5.

Hi Alex. I saw this when you first posted…. At least I think it was yours. Every post you put up is appreciated. I imagine you are reaching that timeframe where missing the Park grows heavy on your soul. I get that as it’s now been 11 years for me. I was supposed to go last month but Covid and the Park changes along with higher rental car costs etc made it impossible. May we both get back there soon.

The engines aren't designed to operate on that pressure. 150 is their maximum operating pressure.

A yellow coach (carrying the clowns and other circus performers), a flatcar with a calliope organ, two more several flatcars (carrying various circus wagons), an orange stock car (carrying the elephants), a blue stock car (carrying animals like monkeys, horses, zebras, and camels), one more flatcar (carrying the tent and its supports), a light blue stock car (carrying the giraffes (whose heads are clearly sticking through the roof)), a pink stock car (carrying predators like hyenas, apes, bears, lions, and tigers), a light green stock (carrying animals like ostriches, seals, hippos and kangaroos), a green coach (carrying the circus workmen), a red caboose numbered 2 (carrying the Ringmaster), or a silver coach reserved for Dumbo and Mrs. Jumbo?

It's not any if them...the Casey JR circus train is a freight train...the Lilly Belle is a private observation car.

It definitely would be interesting if they still had their diesel roster I saw at least a few photos of. I'd like to one day compare it to the trains I work down here in Minnesota on a railroad called NSSR.

Oh no no, you must be thinking of another amusement park. Disney is VERY careful about their theming. The Disneyland and WDW railroads take place prior to the end of the Victorian era. Plus, the whole point to constructing those railroads was because of Walt's fascination for vintage live steam. There were no deisel-electric units at either Disneyland or Disney World. The only thing I can think of was that there once was a stationary (and 90% fake) recreation of a California Zephyr, which was used as storefront entrances in the Disney California Adventure park. The only part of that train that was real, was the cab of the EMD F-unit. Maybe that's what you were thinking about?

This video was shot on different days over the course of a year, it wouldn't have mattered what the rotation was, I never had planned to make this video.

Is the deer still near the tracks and what Indian is that supposed to be on horseback and what about the moose in the river and what became of the house on fire and the Indian village?, I used to go to Disneyland when I was growing up and it would be nice to see the place again but with the current admission fee of over $75 a person I don't think so.

Yes the deer and elk are still along the tracks, the Indian Chief on horseback has been there on the river since 1956. The moose are located on the island along the riverbanks. Due to the cost of gas, the burning settlers cabin was replaced with an intact settlers cabin which overlooks the river. The Indian Village is still located along the river, seen better on the Mark Twain Riverboat. There are also more additions because there's a Panther along the tracks in Adventureland, elk behind the train along the river, and also a Mountain Lion as the train passes above Frontierland. Foxes can also be spotted among the trees prior to arriving at Toontown Depot.
