Remember, Florida itself is in the middle of a health outbreak! Economically, this is a tough time to be vacationing. A lot of uncertainty will keep abroad travelers away. Disneyland has more local visitors and dropping by is not that big of a deal.

Hollywood Studios has Galaxy's Edge - with 2 rides and one (Rise of the Resistance) that had people getting to the park hours early to try for a boarding group, plus a new ride -Mickey and Minnie's Railroad - that was only opened a week before the shut down, and a ride that was always the most popular for Fast passes (Slinky Dog Dash). As a result, Hollywood Studios will get more interest for a long time. The AP early opening reservations was fully booked for all options within 30 minutes of its opening.

Thank you SO much for the update. We live out of state but have reservations at PP w/ tickets for early August. I think we have decided to not go partly based on your perspective. You and Adam are right about not wanting to go to Disneyland the way it will be into the unforeseen future. We want it to be the way it always has been and enjoy ourselves. Disneyworld is a destination spot and most people come from out of town, state and country where Disneyland is more a SoCal local destination spot. Hollywood studios is more local with Galaxies edge.

You got to believe that a good portion of people who would travel to either coast's resort have been out of work or limited work/income since mid March. People going to Disney during this time would really need to have already spent the money. As a Signature AP holder, I do not plan on going at reopen, and probably not for a few months after. Considering the current SoCal covid #s. Even if OC is not amongst the worst, LA, Riverside, SB, Imperial and Ventura counties all are.

The number of Covid cases have gone up in many areas like Anaheim, Baldwin Park, Downey and Fontana. In 3 months our organization saw 20,000 cases of Covid (from mid March to Mid June). In 12 days, the number increased by over 10,000. Also, hospitalizations in Anaheim have gone way up (along with some other areas, hit hard). They are a lot higher than they had been in March, April and May! Also, ICU admissions are going up! People are not taking Covid seriously! We almost had control of it around Mother’s Day: there was about a week without calls, messages, and new cases of Covid. That started to slightly increase 10 days after Mother’s Day. The last 2weeks, it is skyrocketing! Over 200 emails, each day, mostly about Covid among a small group in our clinic the last few days, and likely to get worse about 2 weeks after July 4th get togethers.

I’ve done the two parks in 24 hrs .. and yes my favorite is Disneyland also .. I so appreciate these updates and Mr Dave .. we are so on the fence about traveling this year ...

something i've been wondering about is when disneyland does open with limited capacity,how will they monitor the amount of people in the park? i mean,once you're in do you have to stay in until you're ready to go home? will re-entry be possible (they certainly can't go back to hand stamps!)? also, if people make reservations and don't show up will there be a "stand by" entry line to fill those vacancies? or if some AP makes a reservation and just goes for an hour or three will that open up a space for a "stand by" person to come in later? lots of variables.

I am an AP holder but I'm in NV and i will be there every day I can I am going for opening of DTDD its 80.00 round trip airline ticket and I'll uber to the park. It's affordable and I'll stay just that day. So no crazy money for a room. But I guess I'm an exception

I think it’s important to mention how about 20% of Magic Kingdom’s guests are from out of town compared to how at Disneyland about 60% or more of the guests are locals.

The other thing to consider is park tickets have been halted for over a month. Annual Pass holders have their tickets. How many people have vacations planned but can't buy tickets?

I have been wondering if they are still doing FastPass? I have not been a fan of them and to me it has seems to have made it worse. Most of the people that are going to Disneyland today don’t know of a time without them. Part of the fun to me is not having to planning my day not have to schedule around when my passes were. To people watch and talk to people in line as you wait. I have found myself going on rides with shorter lines and enjoying it. I have seen where families are rushing to rides and not enjoying the park the way Walt may have wanted you to. And yes I went to Disneyland when Walt was still alive and there was a much different feeling to the park. This in not to say that is want to deal with the ticket books again. Disneyland was built to relax and not rush around as we do in our lives today.

Did you see the footage of that ridiculous fool ranting, raving and cursing in a grocery store (maybe a Trader Joe's but not sure) here in California -- because she was asked to wear her mask, but she refused and had to leave? I'm afraid that some of the Cast Members at WDW might have to deal with that behavior sooner or later, but I definitely expect it at Disneyland (when DL finally opens). I think the woman in the grocery store claimed that she couldn't wear a mask because of breathing problems or whatever. Who knows if that's true, but it doesn't even matter in this situation -- because if the place of business you are entering requires you to wear a mask, then wear the mask!!!!! If you know you have breathing problems and a mask will impact that, then you should not go out during a pandemic -- stay home and order your groceries to be delivered. Don't expect to march into a store -- or a theme park -- and not adhere to their rules, and then throw a tantrum when they ask you to wear the mask. Some people just ruin it for everyone else with their antics.

That is interesting. DLR I can totally see more spots available fir APs for sure. I am wondering though, isn't it the folks who hold the single or multi day tickets that spend the most money in the short term? I hope we do not see Disney do a lay off like Universal did.

It's math. Disney has to have about 4 spaces open per hotel room, and they should have those 4 places open in at least 2 parks. Out of state guests are the ones who go to the hotel rooms. Florida is on fire with Covid, and I know that people up here where I live (NY/Northeast) are not about to travel out of the area right now. People from other countries are not about to come. Magic Kingdom and AK not being filled are not surprising. AK is a massive people eater where it's easy to social distance. MK is much loved, but Epcot is a true locals park because of the food and general laid back vibe and HS has all the new fancy stuff.

I don't think that Disneyland will stay closed long.... Floridas covid cases are VERY bad... Of course it has TONS more room than Disneyland so that's more social distanceing... But if WDW does good, maybe DLR can too... I'm in the middle of both and I'm risking by going to WDW and Universal Orlando to check out this Cinderella castle... Because it is BEAUTIFUL ❤️

I am just hoping to get there soon. I know its about being safe. I have not been there since last yr on my bday march 31st 2019 and i went early oct around the 2nd. But in 2020 i have not been yet smh March 31st was my bday time. But sadly Disneyland was put on hold. And here again the rug has been pulled out from me on them canceling July 17th. My goal was trying to go july 28 to aug 4th. I was hoping to celebrate my bday july 31th. July 31st was going to be the new march 31st. I am trying and hoping to be at Disneyland soon. My pass expired may 6th and i had so many opportunities to rebuy the pass. But i could not bc of the pandemic situation. Smh. I am concern about when they are going to extend the pass. There aren't a lot of Disney World resorts open currently.and I don't know what they're opening dates are scheduled for. I had heard they're going to use some off them for NBA players. I don't know if that's true or not.
