I think the art work was second to none. Just look at that design...you almost know you will enjoy the content even before you place on the turntable. Back in the day, Disney knew how to catch your eye with their products. And this one is an example of them. Thanks so much for posting another musical gem!!

I think Disney should put out an audio release containing each piece of music for every single unit in the classic version of this parade. They should also include a full color picture book featuring images of all the units. That way, fans can follow along as they listen to the soundtrack and relive all their favorite memories of seeing it live in the Disney parks.

Classic!!! I was audio tech in high school who worked the audio board for our huge auditorium. When we had student assemblies I used this as the student body was entering the auditorium to and being seated. It was priceless.

GREAT job! the Small World portion sounds cleaner than i've ever heard it on a record of the parade. the 2 bells at the beginning the 3rd iincarnation of Small World went AWOL after this, resurfacing on the '95 CD release of Tokyo's soundtrack of the parade.

I had this original picture disc from my very first visit to Disney, in 1973. Unfortunately I lost the disc during a drain flood that wiped out my whole record collection. This was still inside it's clear sleeve with the purchase sticker still in the top right hand corner. I was really gutted when I lost this. It was still in a pretty decent condition and sounds like it might have been of a greater value than when I bought it...except...I wouldn't have parted with it. So happy I've found the original tune.

The year of my birth!!! What a great year to be born. I remember seeing this Mainstreet Electrical Parade with my parents in 1991. Gosh how the years have flown by. All I have are the memories in my mind and the pictures....but how I wish I could physically go back in time and be there once again. The memories are flooding my mind and the tears are flooding my eyes......it doesn't take long for time to swiftly and briskly fly by. Sorry for fealing such nostalgia and reminiscing. Seems like I do that more and more now. There's more years behind me than in front of me. 😮😢

I read somewhere that this original version was retired in 1974 and a newer or updated one was produced in 1975. I think the 1977 version was tweaked and a vocoder was added in the beginning of the song at that time, which is the version most of us are familiar with. I think the reason I can't remember this version or even the parade in the early 70s is because I have more memories of the parade in the late 70s and early 80s. That and the fact that the original version lasted only two years.
@Bill59255 жыл бұрын
The original version was replaced by America on Parade. In 1977 Disney considered just putting new lights on the old floats. They tried it with the train float but decided to go with all new floats and lights. I still have some of the original lights. I wired the lights onto the floats in 1977. I watched them build the iron and rebar structure, then followed plans on how to wire the lights onto the rebar. Then women sewed fabric to the rebar on the inside of the floats. Once a float was finished, it was trucked off to Disneyland or Walt Disney World. We made two sets. Eventually more floats were added and over the years the lights have had to be replaced. This would entail stripping the float down to the iron work, rewiring the lights and replacing the fabric. It took my crew about 8 months to do this.

I was looking for this version, really thank you very much for sharing it with the KZbin community. and more than this version they used a program here in Mexico called: "El Chapulin Colorado" (the red grasshopper) with the great Roberto Gomez Bolaños, known as Chespirito. Receive a big hug and you are well. Regards. :D
@FukiMakai9 жыл бұрын
+Ricardo Mora "Moram-Rick" Hi, Chespirito used in 1976 this version (when the original Perrey's Baroque Hoedown version is almost identical to this) and in 1978-1979 the 1977's rearranged version, worked over the original. That's the way I heard this piece for the 1st time. I'm from Argentina and sadly never went this live, I'm 20 years old and the few days I was there, I didn't visited that area.

@Iris Toro yep, the 1972 version of the msep music was reused from 1983-1985 and for the final time with two episodes from 1991 and the 1977 music was mixed with the 1972 soundtrack and you can tell it by the bassline

The First Disneyland Electrical Parade actually evolved from the Disney World Electric Water Pageant. All that big black empty space out on Seven Seas Lagoon, an engineer said, and nothing to do with it. So a 2D lightscreen version of a blue & green whale (like from an old Lite-Brite kit) was devised. It led to an entire slue of additions, and Disney Imagineering knew they had a big hit. A park parade debuted later, originally with 2D floats. 3D floats and new music debuted in 1977. The rest is Imagineering history.

Thank you for posting this! Did you by any chance record this in a lossless format? If you did I'd greatly appreciate if you'd share it with me, as it would be much better than ripping from KZbin. I am working on compiling detailed information on the electrical parade. One aspect is the mixing of its music on the many releases over the years. Thank you for your time :)

@kylehill36436 жыл бұрын
Almost everything on YT has copyright. Otherwise we would all be stuck with cat videos which on site reviews a lot of people think it still is because they only see it thru the "app" and that is what usually shows up I guess. I don't do phone crap so I don't know but I do for sure know the site is way different on a phone. Today's programmers CANNOT differ between mouse and touch screen. It just all gets screwed up.
