Display SharePoint List Attachments in Power Apps | Viewer Component

In this Power Apps tutorial video, we will explore the different options available to display SharePoint list item attachments in Power Apps. We will cover the most common file / attachment types. We will use Image, PDF Viewer, Audio & Video controls in Power Apps to show PDF files, Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) & play audio and video files inline.
We will leverage a Gallery control in Power Apps to showcase the attachments related to a SharePoint list item.
The Attachments Viewer control has been built as a component which acts like a reusable control.
The component can be directly associated with a SharePoint list item attachments object.

To anyone struggling with seeing the AbsoluteUri, DisplayName,ID, & Value fields...I went to "settings", "upcoming features", "retired" and turned on anything that mentioned components. Then reimported the component file. Not sure if a specific one would have done the trick but I was done messing around lol. Also make sure you update the tenant in the code mentioned at the beginning of the video. If you jump straight to the viewer instructions you probably missed that like me 🙃

I am fighting with this and, when I saw your comment, I thought this was, "it"! Unfortunately, after applying those changes in the 'Settings' under 'Retired' (everything re: Components) I can see the file name in the component but images will not load. The component does not show the AbsoluteUri, DisplayName,ID, & Value fields in the Custom Properties. @RezaDorrani or Sara - are there any additional insights you could share?

Rena-Another gem! You are so generous to provide the component! I noticed one thing. When I use .Value to show the attachment in the gallery, any image that is attached from a folder and is portrait ends up being rotated 90 degrees. Any portrait image attached by taking a picture via the mobile app stays portrait. If I change .Value to .AbsoluteUri in the component the image from the folder remains portrait. Have you encountered that? It also happens on a simple viewer gallery without the component, so it’s not an issue with the component. It’s with .Value, or me :), it seems.

I was hoping to use just the image+document+PDF components of your component, however Power Apps will not successfully let me install the component, and I cannot figure out how you 1) Made it so only the view control related to the specific file type shows 2) How you integrated the PDF viewer through that button! Hi Reza! Thanks for the video it was super useful, im still somewhat new to powerapps, and I'm using the component, and got it mostly working, except for one thing. At times when a new attachment is added, and you click the arrow to populate the attachment, the attachment will go blank and won't load until you click on another populate button in the gallery and click back to it. Do you possibly know what I can do to fix this? Or the reason this might happen?

i have no errors and its works for some files, not all for me, for example, I have a JFIF file, and also when I run the app on my phone none of the preview attachments doesn't show all image or pdf in the gallery-like yours but on PC it works on 6:35 by the way thanks a lot

Currently, the component always remains visible regardless of where I am in the form because it moves with the scrolling. Comments would not be possible with the attachments. All we have is the name to play with.

Hi, Reza. Thank you for generously posting your component to github. It works great. For the xlsx file types I am only getting an excel Icon. It is not an issue as the file can be downloaded either way. It could be that the svg code for that type is no longer supported. How do you develop that code? Hello Reza. As always, a great video that provides very clear direction. Thank you!!!! I am experiencing a few issues with the list attachment viewer component which I'm hoping you can help to resolve. 1) For Word documents with a .doc extension, the system is not returning any image (document or icon). For those with a .docx extension I have many with screenshots within. For these documents the component is presenting a preview of one of the screenshots within the document instead of the Word document itself. 2) All PDF previews are very blurry. I've tried adjusting the resolution, but it does not seem to have any impact on the preview. Any suggestions on resolving these issues?

1) It is default behavior of the pdf conversion action. It will pick images in word doc if present. 2) Have not experienced this hence not sure.

You are truly helping me a lot. - Just one question: How can I adapt your component to display previews of links to other documents? That is: instead of attaching a document to the list's item, I'd like to use a link to an existing document in a document library and use your component to preview that document referred through the link. The link would be a field/column to be added to each item. I'd like to do this in order to avoid creating copies of images designed for social media. Thank you in advance!!

Another level! Thank you Reza. I noticed when I created a new item immediately after my prior item that the attachment from the previous submission does not clear out on my next 'new' item and I have to clear it manually. Is this a powerapps/Sharepoint list bug? Can it be solved?

I've been using this solution in different applications, but suddenly the timeline command 2:43 to load the first image stopped working, it only works if I don't do any filter in my list, if I do some filter that is this command bring nothing. Thankyou so much Reza!! Great video! We have been using your component for over a year now. Only issue we run into is if someone submits an editable version of the document (word or pdf) then the viewer will not show information in the editable fields. Is there any way we can overcome this so the data is displayed? Many thanks, Danielle

I have never tested it with editable fields. Probably thats a limitation with the api used to convert it to pdf.

Hello Reza, thank you very much for your valuable information and video instructions. You can explain everything very entertainingly and profoundly. This video with the preview images also helped me a lot. Everything works as intended on my computer in the browser, but unfortunately the preview images do not work on my smartphone. Is that a limitation with the previews or can it be a programming error on my part?
