can't find any video about how to replace just the cable, keeping the original lcd panel, is it soldered directly on the panel??

What can le are you referring to? You can change the short cable that connect the lcd to logic board and it’s changeable unless the lcd board is damaged and that can’t be replaced, at least in home and you will need clean room and training to do so, and most likely won’t be successful for the first 10 times, we have the original displays very inexpensively and you should come to your doorstep. You totally can, but it is not necessary. The replacement of the display cable would require the removal of the logic board. Additionally the LCDVS Display cable does not often fail or need to be replaced, so replacing it is not needed in most cases.

@@tekdep Would a faulty LCVDS display cable have the same symptoms with the screen going blank when opening half way? I replaced my display a year ago and this just started happening. Hoping I can just replace the cable and not the whole display again.

Excellent video. But wait what? This Mac has a removable SSD?? I thought Apple stopped doing removable SSDs in 2014 / 2015?
